A MAJOR lost opportunity with this limited series was they could of made Nightwing and Starfire the Vampire King and Queen of the whole thing. They would of slayed so hard as a Vampiric power couple! I hate how much DC overlook/forget how great of an item those two are! Ending bumper being focused on Moarte, fitting!

Honestly I kinda call bs on Superman being turned. He's literally *solar* powered. Previous stories established that a vampire drinking his blood would burst to flame, and even if that doesn't apply in this continuity, the fact his powers are so antithetic to a weakness to sunlight should make him useless as a vamp. ... With that said, thanks Moarte, and good rest. See you next year, and thanks for all these horror comics you made us discover^^

I do have to admit a touch of annoyance regarding this story: DC just can't seem to maintain any manner of consistency at all when it comes to the effect Kryptonian or Tamaranian blood has on vampires: half the time it's a super serum that grants immunity to vampire weaknesses, and the other half of the time it's like trying to drink napalm.

Personally my issue is how every hero suddenly becomes evil upon being vampirised, which especially sounds dumb when applied to people like Hal Jordan, Wonder Woman, and ESPECIALLY Superman

Bob the unlucky guy who became a vampire can resist his new vampiric impulses, but someone who's powers literally run on willpower immediately starts chomping every neck he sees?

Spoilers for the comic. Wait, wouldn't Sups be immune to vampires due to him requiring solar energy for his powers? Or is his situation like Starfires?

There was a comic once where Superman got bit by a vampire and it burst into flame from the solar energy.

This comic plays fast and loose with who can/should be turned. In this case, he is turned and slowly grows weaker. He eventually steals Luthor's warsuit and uses a weak amount of sunlight to maintain a facsimile of his power at the cost of constantly burning. Personally, I hate the Starfire blood twist since it makes the mystery of the first few issues unsolvable.

@@Awesome_Pichu It makes sense when you realize it's the only way the story can work until the second volume. Same deal as why the nonpowered heroes are so effective while everyone else gets beaten with the nerf bat.

Superman being turned makes no sense. In past comics we have seen that his sunlight infused cell are immune to the vampire curse and that any vampire that drinks his blood burns like they drank pure sunlight. Wonder Woman being hypnotized while holding the lasso of truth also doesn’t make sense as we have seen it overcome mind control on multiple occasions. And you have to think that the green lantern rings would detect the vampire curse and not work for a turned Hal Jordan. Also how could even vampire Wonder Woman lie about Batman being the vampire while wielding the lasso?

Personally my issue with this comic is that the vampirised heroes are suddenly A-ok with killing/turning their fellow heroes and friends. Even if they were under some form of hypnosis, it doesn’t make sense for some like Hal Jordan, Wonder Woman, Superman, etc to NOT resist it

Another Longbox of the Damned come and gone. The commentary was good and Moarte's overview was good. However, I honestly cannot say that DC vs Vampires is a good comic. It just sucks. The lore of the vampires in this comic spits in the face of any reason or logic. Yes, yes, I know; comic logic and 'rule of horror' and all that. But I *cannot* get over the fact that the Justice League should be taken down by these basic leeches. First: How is Hal still wearing his Green Lantern ring? Last time I checked if a Lantern dies, the ring comes off and vampires are the LIVING DEAD! If anything they should be wearing a Black Lantern Ring. Meaning, that any 'defences' that the Ring gives are moot and I'm pretty sure that Hal's 'genius plan' to infiltrate the League would turn some heads and get noticed! (Unless they're being written by Dan Slott who makes everyone as perceptive as a blind brick during the Superior Spider-Man run.) Second: If Hal was under the control of a vampire, WHY IS HE STILL WEARING THE 'WILLPOWER' RING? If Hal has been dominated by a stronger willpower (as is known in Vampire Lore and media) wouldn't that mean that the ring can't or shouldn't be as strong as this? Third: Kryptonian Vampires? They'd absorb more sunlight to power themselves up, meaning they'd combust into ash right after being turned. Fourth: Wonder Woman being hypnotised. HOW?! If I remember correctly, the Lasso of Truth should negate ANY effect of mind control or lies! Fifth: When was it ever established that Vampires could gain traits of other species? When Vamp-Dick drank Starfire's blood and 'I'm immune to crosses, garlic and sunlight', AGAIN I reiterate, why didn't he combust when exposed to sunlight like Kryptonians? Sixth: Anyone who is blessed by a deity in the DC universe or has a 'holy artefact' would be vaporised if they were vampires! Shazam, Black Adam, Wonder Woman's Lasso/the Amazons! Just call down divine lightning or use the Lasso as the Belmont Whip and they'd be dust! Hell, I'm pretty sure Dr. Fate knows the location of the Spear of Longinus. This whole comic run reads like it belongs in the pages of that scrap-pile Dark Nights Metal; too much 'edge', no logic, and so many inconsistencies throughout the story it can't be taken seriously as an Elseworlds story, even *if* there are liberties taken with Vampire lore. If anyone *does* like this comic run, more power to you, but I cannot get behind DC vs Vampires. In the words of Linkara himself, "This comic SUCKS!"

The thing is: most of your complaints can be undone in a single sentence: this is a non-canon tale, meaning an alternate universe, so its rules only have to fit within its own internal logic. The Lantern ring doesn't work like that here. Wonder Woman doesn't work like that here. Superman is affected by magic and vampires are creatures of magic therefore their bites can affect him and give him unique immunities and abilities other vampires cannot (though I haven't read the remaining issues, so maybe that's addressed there).

@@AT4W No offence but by that logic you could say the exact same thing about many of the complaints you had with JLA: Act of God. Green Lantern's ring doesn't work despite the ring being a technological device. Doesn't work like that here. Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Red Tornado still being around while other magical characters disappear. Doesn't work like that here. The Atom losing his 'powers' even though they come from a device. Doesn't work like that here. There are two types of Elseworld/AU stories. One explores how the characters could have turned out if their life had been different (i.e. what if baby Kal-El landed in Russia?). The other explores the characters as they are but puts them in scenarios not possible in the canon. JLA: Act of God and DC vs. Vampires fall into this category.

@@Wright805plus I also got issues with how everyone acts upon being vampirised. Seriously, why is it that upon becoming a vampire the heroes are A-ok with killing/turning their friends/fellow heroes like it’s not a big deal? I can buy it with Dceased, Marvel Zombies, and Marvel Zombies Resurrection because you can tell the heroes are affected by something that’s making them do all those things. If the vampirised heroes are affected by a bloodlust, how come some such as Hal Jordan, Wonder Woman, Superman, etc don’t warn the others about it and try to resist it? All I’m saying is that I don’t have issues with with the heroes straight-up being vampirised, but I DO have issues with the morality switch once that happens, as it just feels wrong.
