Damian Wayne VS Tim Drake | Robin VS Red Robin

In this video I analyze who would win between Damian Wayne and Tim Drake, using feats and scaling from the main DC Comic universe.
#robin is the alias of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was originally created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and Jerry Robinson, to serve as a junior counterpart and the sidekick to the superhero Batman. As a team, Batman and Robin have commonly been referred to as the Caped Crusaders and the Dynamic Duo.[1] The character's first incarnation, Dick Grayson, debuted in Detective Comics # 38 (April 1940). Conceived as a way to attract young readership, Robin garnered overwhelmingly positive critical reception, doubling the sales of the #batman titles.[2] Robin's early adventures included Star Spangled Comics # 65-130 (1947-1952), the character's first solo feature. He made regular appearances in Batman-related comic books and other DC Comics publications from 1940 through the early 1980s, until the character set aside the Robin identity and became the independent superhero Nightwing.
The character's second incarnation, Jason Todd, first appeared in Batman # 357 (1983). He made regular appearances in Batman-related comic books until 1988, when he was murdered by the Joker in the storyline "A Death in the Family" (1989). Jason later found himself alive after a reality-changing incident, eventually becoming the Red Hood. The premiere Robin limited series was published in 1991, featuring the character's third incarnation, Tim Drake, training to earn the role of Batman's vigilante partner. After two successful sequels, the monthly Robin series began in 1993 and ended in early 2009, which also helped his transition from sidekick to a superhero in his own right. In 2004 storylines, established DC Comics character Stephanie Brown became the fourth Robin for a short time before the role reverted to Tim Drake. Damian Wayne succeeds Drake as Robin in the 2009 story arc "Battle for the Cowl."
The current and former Robins always feature prominently in Batman's cast of supporting heroes; Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian all regard him as a father. In current continuity as of 2021, Dick Grayson serves as Nightwing, Jason Todd is the Red Hood, Stephanie Brown is Batgirl, and Tim Drake has picked up the mantle of Robin again after a stint as Red Robin. Damian has left behind the title Robin, but remains the title character of the Robin comic book. In recent years, Batman has also adopted new sidekicks in the form of Bluebird, whose name references Robin, and The Signal.
Damian Wayne is the only son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, and the only grandson of Ra's al Ghul. The character was created by Mike W. Barr, and first appeared in Batman: Son of the Demon (1987).
Due to Damian spending his gestation in a laboratory, he was raised by his mother, Talia, until he was 10, at which point she left him in the care of his father, Bruce, who had not been aware of his son's existence until that point in time. Damian is violent and self-important, and was trained by the League of Assassins, learning to kill at a young age. After the events of Batman R.I.P. and Batman: Battle for the Cowl, Damian has taken up the identity of Robin, becoming the fifth and current person to use the Boy Wonder's identity. He worked with Dick Grayson; who replaced Bruce as Batman. Morrison's Batman # 666 (2007) depicts a future wherein Damian has become Batman. In Batman Incorporated # 8, Damian is killed by his clone, The Heretic, but he is soon resurrected with temporary super-powers.
Timothy Jackson "Tim" Drake is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Batman. Created by Marv Wolfman and Pat Broderick, he first appeared in Batman # 436 (August 1989) as the third character to assume the role of Batman's crime-fighting partner and sidekick Robin. Following the events of Batman: Battle for the Cowl in 2009, Drake adopted the identity of Red Robin. In 2019, Tim returned to his original Robin persona and had a brief stint in which he used the mononym "Drake".
As a young boy, Tim was in the audience the night Dick Grayson's parents were murdered and later managed to discover the identities of Batman and the original Robin through their exploits. After the death of the second Robin, Jason Todd, and witnessing Batman spiral into darkness, Tim attempted to convince Dick to resume the role of Robin, stating that "Batman needs a Robin". However, Dick refused to return to being Batman's sidekick, and instead, Tim was appointed as the third Robin. Neal Adams redesigned the entire Robin costume specifically for Tim Drake's character, with the sole exception of the redesigned "R" logo by the late Norm Breyfogle.
In 2021, Tim made his live-action debut starting in the third season of the HBO Max series Titans, portrayed by Jay Lycurgo.

Damian has the same problem his father does, batman often knows stuff he realistically just wouldn't, he's gone from the worlds greatest detective to a man who just knows everything off the top of his head. and batman goes toe to toe with people that should just destroy him, not because he's outsmarting them he can apparently just casually take hits from super humans and be fine. Damian has his own form of this were writers just keep going "look at how special awesome he is" while at the same time acting like a dick and it gets on the nerve of older fans to see some young brat act like he's better than everyone.

Tim Drake was the boy who worked for his position. And him taking the mantle was a new age of Robin that they retroactively tried to apply to the rest of the Robins, especially costume-wise. It wasn't a birthright or nepotism that made him don the identity.

On the leveling front, Damian went into the fight with Connor injured and unhealed.Connor had thrown Damian off the cliff and Ras warned that Damian wasn't healed.My impression was that uninjured the fight might have been a little more even.Also, while the others learned from League of Assassin members, Damian trained them.And in his first fight with Zasaz, Damian admitted that he holds back.Only when he allowed himself free reign did he start slicing up Zasaz.For me the implication is that Damian is human he was incubated in green Lazarus colored fluid, soaked with chaos crystal and the result of purpose breeding.Tim can use the "possum" reflect, but Damian can harden his organs.The point being Damian's power level fluctuates based on writer and the history used.On the detective front, Damian solved Black Book cases that Batman hadn't solved.He also located Pyg before Bruce and was able to track based on clues Raz before Batman.Plus, unlike the others if not for his professor being dumped in the ocean, Damian would have had a PHD at 6. So I'm still not sure where Damian ranks

There’s really no reason Jason shouldn’t technically be on that level or at least a tiny bit below Bruce and Dick in skill. All the training and experience he’s gathered with his training and dedication through the years, should make him be around that level I like Tim, but skill wise I don’t think he should technically scale to Jason. The thing that is and has always made Tim unique is his mind and detective side, and that should be what we look at

Bruce and Grayson alone could take down legions of LoA high tier members alone and most of everyone Jason has trained with… Nightwing is an established hero with his own team by the time Jason starts, don’t get me started on Bruce. He’s just not born to anything special or destined for much of anything special but he shouldn’t need to be their skill tier for DC to give him good stories. I thought I was weird for this opinion, but I've always liked Damien more. I just never got into Tim Drake. I love Dick as the OG and Nightwing (who feel like his own hero now more than ever) I love Jason's new backstory as a street kid (that said, his death is his best part as robin) and mostly as Red Hood. I love Damien as a living weapon (a deadly pre-teen is cool af). Never really cared for Tim. Sure he's smart, but I don't have the same interest as I do with the others

@Hdh Hhrhr His development was stalled at some point in the narrative. Instead of becoming Red Robin, he should've become a completely separate hero with a completely separate name not tied to his sidekick role. Instead his character development seems to be in limbo. Another problem is the DC legacy line of heroes. Instead of letting heroes like Bruce fade and Grayson take over for good. Things get re-connect and there becomes a hierarchy that limits the growth and development of the members because no one can grow past Bruce while he's still Batman. Tim was my favorite Robin before the New 52, but since then his character seems to be largely an afterthought.

Tim was trained by Batman and Damian was trained by Ras Al Ghul &/or his mother I genuinely don't think Damian was given better training considering nobody that has come out of the League of Shadows has been able to beat the Batfamily on a regular basis. Dick as a young adult has surpassed Batman in Fighting abilities and is one of the best fighters in the DC universe. It’s actually implied that Damian is the least skilled Robin compared to the others when they were Robins in Batman and Robin Eternal #22. Damian would need to have experiences and journeys similar to the other Robins to reach their level; he can’t just sit around and rely on his training he got as a kid. Training isn’t as valid as the application of that training, which is hardened through experiences.

As of the Batman Failsafe run Damian is the victor in regards to combat skill and straight up combat. Tim won the fight via his tool kit and resources, tying Damian up. All things consider this was really spot on.

As they are right now, I would say Damian would win in a random encounter due to him fighting relatively evenly with Hawke who was stated to be the best hand to hand combatant at the time(maybe minus cass) and Tim might win if he had all his gadgets that he could use. That’s just my take tho.

At the current period in time I would definitely agree with Tim winning as experience and tactics can compensate for Damian’s advantage in fighting skill. To be clear skill and effectiveness in fighting are two different thing as skill alone would not be able to keep up with a bigger and smarter opponent such as Tim drake. But I think when each reach their full potential I think Damian would win 7 to 8 time out of 10 as at that point I would think they would be much closer in size and experience than currently which would allow Damian to win although I don’t think Tim would ever be a easy fight for Damian but eventually I do think being trained from birth would play a role as age and size gaps would mean less and less as they get closer in size

I have a masters degree in business studies, And that don't stop me getting the crap beat out of me by a nerd online in fighting games, My friend who doesnt train in combat sports, Who is fit as hell and does calistentics probably spelt that wrong, Any ways he got slick and challenged me to have a hard spar, despite never sparring in his life. I have over 20 years sparring experience and fighting, He folded up really quick when I hit him. Tim would get killed by damien in a straight up hand to hand fight against Damien. I personally can't stand damiens plot armour (he is ultra bad ass)almost cassandra cane level, Little punk, Tim Drake is my favourite robin and for me the most relatable. Their is a difference between IQ and fight IQ. As much as admire Tim Drake and that he is an underdog jobber, Tim would lose 9 times out of 10 unless Allah/God intervenes. Correction I totally deplore damien. I wish he didnt exist tbh. He is cringe and entitled plus a psychopath. @@MuhammadAli-xw4yc I completely agree that skill does play a role and after rereading my comment I have realized that maybe I was not clear with stating my thought process i was taking into account proficiency with their main weapon of choice and how the weapon would fair against each other (I have trained with both weapons they use) then I took their training into account so for Damian we all know he was trained by the league of shadows and for Tim he was trained by Batman now for these two categories I would give Damian a 8 or 9 out of ten in his skill with a katana while giving Tim at most an 8 when it comes to skill with a bow staff I would say Damian is more skilled with a sword than Tim is with a bow for training it was hard because I think Tim got more personalized training which would allow him to develop his skill faster but I think Damian had the better training as he was trained by a 500 year old man who is a top ten best fighters in my opinion as well as his mom who is probably one of the best fighter In DC as well but I don’t think it was in either one of their personalities to learn how Damian learned so I think although Tim learned faster Damian probably had less flaws when fighting. Next I went and compared their physical stats at the time of their confrontation which I set to have Tim being 18 to 19 and Damian being 14 to 15 so with that in mind I set Tim’s physical stats to 160 Lbs and 5 10 and Damian to 5 5 (as you stated) and 120 so it’s clear Tim is bigger which in most cases make him stronger and from watching movies and shows I would say the gap in athletics in particular their acrobatic skill is not too far apart with Damian I would say being more agile but overall I think Tim takes this category as he could probably keep up with Damian though all the flips but Tim is still bigger so I think he would be more durable and probably hits harder. Now they are both incredibly intelligent in both fighting IQ and normal IQ but the key here is experience and I do think Tim know how to fight an opponent with Damian mindset far more than Damian know how to fight an opponent with Tim’s mindset that being said I think Damian would be on the attack for the majority of the time but Tim wins this section as his mindset during a fight is geared for the long term and I think Tim has the skill to prolong this engagement to give him the upper hand which is why this section goes to Tim. Now lastly I would like to compare their fighting styles so we know how Damian fights he is what I like to call a slippery pressure fighter which I personally hate fighting when I spar I would characterize these fighting as people who keep on the attack while being hard to hit themselves due to the speed or agility they possess much like yoda I am sure you agree this is 100% Damian’s fighting style from what I see in Tim’s fighting style I would say he is what I call a defensive brawler this means that Tim waits for the opponent to give him an opening then goes on the offensive he fight a lot like me but is far better at it than I am but I think that the longer the fight goes on Damian would probably start to tire more and would tire quicker as a lot of energy is needed in his fighting style. Now I am assuming they both want to kill each other so with that assumption I would say since Damian has a sword and Tim has a bow Tim is at an extreme disadvantage in this fight as both can take a hit from a blunt weapon but both probably won’t fair well if their jugular was cut open and I think both would know that so I think Tim would attempt to disarm Damian as quickly as possible to make it a fist fight where I think he would win as although Damian is probably more skilled as well as faster but eventually he would tire if Tim was successful in making the fight longer then I think Tim could over power Damian. I do have personal experience when it comes down to fighting although point fighting and continues fighting are both controlled fighting when I do point fighting I lose most of my fight to my friends who are competitive fighters and the same would be the same in this case as if we were to say Tim and Damian were just trying to train and not try to cause lasting damage Damian would win much like my friends win but when it come down to continuous fighting I win every time as I just overwhelmed them as I can take more hits than they can so in conclusion if it came down to a fist fight I think Tim would win as he could overwhelm Damian defence but Tim’s chances of winning decreases the shorter the fight is but I say if Tim could hold out for 15 minutes the constant energy used by Damian would eventually cause him to slip and give the opportunity required for Tim to win but I do think that no Nader the outcome Alfred will have his work cut out for him and will get good practice with healing their wounds

What about Damians fight against Deathstroke with Maya? He made Deathstroke retreat by offering money (as Dick did before) but he handled himself pretty well. He also fought the Titans all by himself and did okay alone against Titans Tomorrow Tim if I remember correctly. I think he should be able to take Tim, even the fight in New 52 ended with more of a stalemate than a real win for Tim, as Damian could have easily continued.

Damian has plenty of anti-feats as well; him getting thrashed by Slade in the TT Annual #1 is 5 irl years after the fight with Maya as an example. Future Tim pretty much team busted the entire Batfam including Damian, so if you honestly think Damian > the entire Teen Titans than Future Tim would just be > that level with prep. You also can't prove that Damian could've continued, the last part of the fight was him getting slammed, he just as likely figured he couldn't beat Tim. If the last thing we see is one opponent slamming the other, it's not a stalemate based on all available evidence. Like I say in the video though, if Damian and Tim fought right now, I'm betting on Damian.

And Damian didn't seem like he was beaten by Tim, otherwise he would have been more frustrated than we've seen him. Just compare his reaction in Red Robin to the one in the New 52.

@@maxschreck4095 It's more consistent for Damian to be sub-Slade tier, given the fact that there are more fights where he operates at that level, so it's more logical to scale him far below DS. Also Damian's entire motive in that arc was to beat the other Robins when they felt their safest, and Tim slammed him. Tim does better against Jason than Damian, and Damian performs poorly against Deathstroke lvl people more times than not and more recently. Historically Tim is better, as of now it's most likely Damian's game.

On the leveling front, Damian went into the fight with Connor injured and unhealed. Connor had thrown Damian off the cliff and Ras warned that Damian wasn't healed. My impression was that uninjured the fight might have been a little more even. Also, while the others learned from League of Assassin members, Damian trained them. And in his first fight with Zasaz, Damian admitted that he holds back. Only when he allowed himself free reign did he start slicing up Zasaz. For me the implication is that Damian is human he was incubated in green Lazarus colored fluid, soaked with chaos crystal and the result of purpose breeding. Tim can use the "possum" reflect, but Damian can harden his organs. The point being Damian's power level fluctuates based on writer and the history used. On the detective front, Damian solved Black Book cases that Batman hadn't solved. He also located Pyg before Bruce and was able to track based on clues Raz before Batman. Plus, unlike the others if not for his professor being dumped in the ocean, Damian would have had a PHD at 6. So I'm still not sure where Damian ranks.

The problem is Damian is the character that is most negatively impacted by the reboots. Release date Damien is an absolutely horrible person, but it makes it extra special when he gets character development and blossoms into a beautiful functional young adult. That we get to know for a couple months, and then the universe screws up and we have to deal with murder baby Damien again. Damien is one of my favorite characters, but he's also one of my most hated. If you're interested in seeing his good side, look for comics that aren't afraid to take an absolute dunk on Damien and his attitude.
