Thank you! I know this was a labor of love. I used to care about football, and these Dallas Cowboys especially. This highlights clip shows the stark contrast to what the game is today: a game of non-excitement. Dorsett was one of the most exciting backs ever, and he's lucky to have played during a time when his talent could be expressed this way. I don't give a rat's ass about any professional sports anymore, but this was a joy to watch.

Don’t give up on professional sports in the USA. It’s not the fault of sports for the greed of the people. I’m 47 from San Antonio Tx. So need I say TD#1 , Earl #2 for me. Yes I talk about many differences in sports today. Then I realize sports and the love of the game only keep me entertained. After all ironic as it maybe. Tom Brady ended up a Buc then wins a super bowl. I use to love Brady as a Wolverine. Hated him as a patriot. I believe his 1 trophy belong to the other Wolverine. A 1 Charles Woodson. Then Brady ends up playing for my third favorite team. And wins a super bowl. Yes bucs, right after Dallas, then the giants. 👀 now I’m just supportive of the younger players and the love of the game.

Tony Dorsett was not only fast, but at 5"10' and 183 lbs, he was the strongest man in the NFL one year. He out lifted everyone, including Defensive Ends. I saw it, but I couldn't believe it, he surprised everyone!

Tony was that dude. My offensive coordinator in HS Chris Legrie played with Tony at Pitt. I use to love to hear Coach Legrie's stories about him. He once told me that Tony didn't really practice. He would just sit there on a beach chair with sunglasses on & the coach would just call him in to the practice field to return kick returns & he said he would just score everytime. I don't know how true this story is but it sounded cool at the time.

Robert Newhouse was underrated period. One of my all time favorite Cowboys. Even with Dorsett as the featured back, Newhouse still had a thousand yard season and that was when there were only 12 regular season games. He broke his leg and was never given a fair chance to come back as a starter, IMO because Tom Landry was eager to start Ron Springs.

I think my favorite run of his, and one I'll always remember watching, was the the TD at St. Louis, where he runs toward the center of the line, suddenly spins around and takes it to the outside. I like how you feature the long yardage tds and the short yardage tds as well. A lot of people did not think Dorsett read though runner in between the tackles because he was a cut back runner. But I am going to say he was a tough runner in between the tackles because he hit the hole so fast. He knew when to take a hit and not to take a hit that is why his career lasted do long without major injuries.

Tony Dorsett! Prettiest running back I ever saw! The man could fly! Growing up in the late 70’s in Texas, every kid wanted to be either Tony Dorsett or Roger Staubach. The Dallas Cowboys was like religion back then. I met Tony many years later when I was working at KWES-TV, NewsWest 9 in Midland, Texas (1996 ish). I saw him in the hallway one day and that made my year. He was super nice and still looked like he could run 100 yards at a dead sprint. Made the little kid in me remember watching my hero on TV. Tony Dorsett was so fast it was crazy. He was at top speed with just two steps. If Landry would have split him out wide a lot more as a receiver they would have won a lot more games because there was not a corner in the league that could match his speed.

It was sweet that his initials were TD as in Touchdown but if his initials were SB they would stand for SONIC BOOM! So if there was ever a loud boom in the stadium when the Cowboys played that was just Dorsett breaking the sound barrier 💥! Thank you to whom ever put this on, I am from Phoenix, been a Cowboy fan since 1969, of the oldies, Staubach and TD Dorsett were two of my favorite players, they drafted him in 1980, out of Pitspurgh Pitt. I remember bragging about it that we had him, he measured up to the hype and some. He looks taller in video than I remembered, the uniforms made their legs look sleek and thin, the shoulder pads were huge, lol. That was a lot of LONG touchdowns, the only running back that eclipsed him was Emmitt whom is also my favorite player along with Aikman and that entire team from the early 90's. WooHooo!!!!

Never really seen a big highlights clip of Dorsett. Thanks for posting. This is a really great watch. He’s so, so smooth and for a relatively small guy, it’s impressive that he was not afraid to stick his head in the trenches. There are two things that really strike me watching it, though. Firstly, I can’t believe how fast he is. It’s that easy kind of speed where he doesn’t look like he’s really trying. Secondly, Darrell Green must have been RIDICULOUSLY fast…

@@DC4L99 about 10 years ago...i had time on my hands.. And averaged all the td distances for the top greats . if I remember right , Barry was 1st with around 17yds per, Tony 2nd with 14yds per . I'll have to research that again soon bc now I'm curious how my memory is lol. But I know they were 1 and 2

Best Cowboys running back I ever saw play was Tony Dorsett, I was born 1962 became a fan 1968 my step father rooted for the packers being all the lumps I took being a step-son I chose the Cowboys soon as I truly understood the game Dorsett was the most feared we ever had at running back positions any play running or receiving could go the distance and boy did he 99 yard run 90 yard receiving touchdowns he could do it all only thing I seen emit was block better but I take Tony Dorsett my lead back aby day .thanks for the thrills T.D😂😂😂😂
