Nice. I replaced front drag links on my Humber Hawk Series II a while ago. It was hard to shock break the tapers to get the originals off with the give in the rubber inside. They were on the sway bar while at the beach vice and I used a long pinch bar for leverage and a hammer to hit the housing and they shocked out eventually. I have rust treated cars with Shell Ensis Fluid. It is good for spraying inside areas to allow for the fluid to seep between flange joints like at wheel arches. And inside sills through grommet holes and insides of doors with a spray bottle. Sometimes removing boot side trim panels can allow access to insides of rear arches to get fluid around them to flow and seep into joints. That protects where paint can't get to. But best to do after any painting and touch-ups. I have used spray bottles to apply the fluid and after use I put a bit of petrol through the sprayer so it doesn't clog up.

If the knocking noise is still there, check the arb bushes next.
