In this video I will show you how to save money and at the same time you can justify purchasing a good bi-directional scan tool and you can DIY. I called the local Dodge dealer to price a new pair of keys for my Dodge charger. I was quoted $250 for the key and $90 for programming. Since I wanted 2 keys, my total would have been $590. I found a pair of keys on Amazon for $25 and I had already purchased the XTOOL D7 which was about $475 bringing my total to $500. So, depending on how you look at this, you could say you are getting paid $90 to buy the keys and the diagnostic tool and do it your self.

@@kevins5268 I did have one key that worked when I programmed these two keys. I also have a video where I use this scanner to program remotes for a 2009 Hyundai Elantra

If the ECU is bad it should at least say something like no communication with ECU if it's a major problem. Your car looks like the American version of a Chevy Sonic. Would you agree?

I would have to just try. I think you can put a new key in turn ignition on and view pin code maybe or the dealership might provide it it you give them the hin number and proof of ownership of the vehicle

My current OBD app is showing random misfires along cylinders 2, 4 & 6 (10 Charger 3.5). Will this device pinpoint the cause of the misfires for my vehicle?

It will allow you to view live data. I was able to pin point a cylinder 3 misfire on a Ford Taurus. Turns out it was a fuel injector. It won't give you all the answers all the time. It does help with diagnostics though.

I personally have not used it on that vehicle but I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't, especially if it's this same style key. This diagnostic tool covers every auto manufacturer that I know of as well as others world wide. I am very pleased with this scanner.

Call your local locksmith, might be even cheaper than that and you don't have to dish out for the tool

You are most likely correct. I was speaking to the people who do diy auto repairs and could use a scan tool that can do programming as well as scan functions.

Yes, it covers a ton of vehicles. The process may be different though. I've not programmed a 2018

I'm trying on my 2014 ram 1500, but when It doesn't ask me to read a pin code. When I go to add a key it ask for the pin and I have no pin.

You should have the option to read the pin code then you enter it at that screen

@@johnratliff4594 I would think that you could still program the Chrysler key, I just haven't done it on that style key. As for the 03 MB, I do not see why it wouldn't. Is it this style key?

@@DCAutoEnhancement for the Chrysler it won't read the pin code. The Mercedes is that style I just haven't tried it.

@@johnratliff4594 is the Chrysler key new or are you trying to read the pin from the existing key? If trying to read the existing key, sometimes the chip inside the key breaks off of the circuit board or just a crack in the solder joint can cause it to not read. Just throwing out ideas
