Short Version 05-10 Dodge/Chrysler P0462 Instrument Cluster Fix Easy and Free!

Thank you so much for this video. I had replaced both fuel modules in the gas tank and still had P0462 (customer's car), I removed the cluster, reflowed the solder on C70, then I took a small butane torch and passed over all the connections at the back of the connectors several times (the ones you heated up), plugged it back in to the vehicle before completely reassembling it and no more check engine light and gauge shows correct position.

2010 Challenger R/T has this code both pumps replaced and still have the code with check engine light on gas gage goes crazy. Did you need to scan the cluster after it was removed to get the correct miles back on the odometer.

Are there replaceable bulbs in a 2009 Charger Cluster? I have dark spots on all 4 of my dials.

What multimeter readings should i look for to detect that bad circuit? The previous owner replaced the fuel sending units and the code persists, i want to try repairing the cluster because i can't pass emissions test until i fix it.

I think it was just voltage. One thing you may be able to do is pull the cluster, leave it plugged in turn the car on and pull down on the harness on the top left side of the cluster. I was able to get mine to work by putting tension on the harness, then when I let go, it stopped working again.

@DCAutoEnhancement I will try that. I noticed on another video regarding this cluster that it was possible to move the wire harness and stop the code from showing. It sure would help to know which numbers to look for on my multimeter, but knowing which pins to focus on is a great help still. Ty

I have the same issue with my 2008 charger can’t tell if I should replace sending unit or it has something to do with the circuit board

From what I understand, the signal passes through the instrument cluster. There are two fuel pumps on these cars and I am guessing two sending units. One thing I did was pulled the cluster out of the dash but left it hooked up, turned on the key and moved the wires on the small connector to the far left side and as I moved the wires, I saw fluctuations when the wires were moved.

@@daledavies4052 I ended up buying another one from the junkyard that worked but the mileage is off. Luckily I recently bought a scanner that can change the mileage on the odometer. It drives me crazy that I know the mileage is off even though it's 30k less than what is on the car. I will be making a video on that.

Maybe you got it working. You could take the needle off and plug it in then turn the key on then off and put the needle back on the E location and see if that fixes it

Hey @DCAutoEnhancement, about how long after soldering does it take for the check engine light to shut off or how long before I know the error is fixed?

Did your gauge start working correctly? Mine I think I still had other things causing my check engine light to be on. If that was the only thing causing your light, it should go off relatively quickly maybe a 5 minute drive?

Correction, I'll need to drive it tomorrow evening so I should know then! I also only did the heat gun to the one side, the side with C70.

​@@DCAutoEnhancement Happy to report after a 15 minute drive, turning the car off, and coming back after my errands, the check engine light was gone and the 4062 code was gone from the dash! This cost me a whopping 20 bucks to get the heat gun, and it worked like a charm. I appreciate you posting this, you probably saved me a couple grand!

Hello I got a 1999 Dodge ram 2500 4x4 I got that code I have no gas gauge I switched the cluster out with another one and still I have no gas gauge I checked the fuses and relays I replace the fuel pump that came with the sender and it still didn't work I'm thinking it could probably be the PCM help please

Well, I am a fan of "South Main Auto" channel and he is pretty good at finding broken wires. I only mention that as a potential cause of your problem considering the items you have already checked. A PCM would be a last resort. BTW I have a 98 Dodge Ram 4X4 that will start showing up on my channel, if you're interested check back periodically or subscribe. @@DCAutoEnhancement yes I checked on Google and I took it to electrical shops and they're telling me it could be cluster and it could be the PCM but I've changed parts today and I can't figure out how to get the gas gauge to work
