How are you homeless and have internet and a phone?
@MrVickers132 жыл бұрын
@@JoseGomez-wt4fo A phone comes with internet and, you may not know this, but a phone is much cheaper than a house or apartment. Homeless people can have money and a job and just not be able to afford a place to live. They may have lost everything but their phone and their car. I say this as someone who lived their car for 3 months. My top priority was keeping my phone service on. Without a phone you lose all contact with the world, job opportunities vanish, and you just spiral deeper into that world.

Since you had a jumper, you could have put power and ground to fuel pump see see if was working. Easier than pulling the whole fuel pump to the assembly to find out it was a circuit issue the whole time. People often swap the pump only find out the relay under the hood is bad.

Everyone take note to what he mentions in the video. He mentioned a key part in this video that helps if you find the part cheap and it may not be directly OEM but works as one. The top of the new feul pump may not work, use the top of the oem fuel pump you took out if the new one does not fire up. When you turn the car over before you turn it on you will be able to hear the pump make a sound of no sound it's not pumping switch the new top of the electric fuel pump woth the old one then try turning over almost 3 times should crank on their try

I just got an 07 charger and I'm not having the issues you are here. My car has a long crank issue. it doesn't start in 2-3 seconds like it should. It cranks for about 10-15 seconds before it finally starts. This only happens when the car is cold though. After driving for a bit or when the car has finally started the first time, it starts up in 2-3 seconds like it should. I got this car from my father-in-law and he said this car has done this from the first day he got it. He said it always took the second attempt to start it for him. I have no warning lights, no codes, etc. What could be causing the long crank times? I can tell you the car runs good and drives good. The only issue I notice besides the long crank time is it does run a tiny bit choppy at idle. Oh and I did check the starter relay, it's fine.
@themechanic61175 жыл бұрын
Sounds likes a fuel pressure regulator issue or check valve in the fuel pump assembly
@MrCougar2145 жыл бұрын
@@themechanic6117 And that's all built into the fuel pump right? Another question for you. The first day I got the car(on the road legal) and was driving it, I stopped and shut the car off. I then went to restart it about 10 minutes later and it acted as though the battery was dead. Just got a "ruuut, ruuut" and then nothing. The battery was fine and so is the alternator, I had the electrical system checked and it all checks out fine. It has proper voltage at the alternator at idle and load and the battery is meeting it's CCA. The car never did it again since, it's been two weeks since that happened. I know that can't be a fuel pump issue because the car would still crank with a bad or faulty fuel pump, just won't start. My father-in-law had the car for about 5 years with it cranking this way so I have my reservations about it being the fuel pump because I doubt a fuel pump can be "weak" or "failing" for years and not crap out. SO at this point I'm completely stumped....lol

** MECH A NIC , My moms car is starting to occasionally hesitate during driving and sometimes wont start up but has plenty of battery power and turns over fine and then starts. Do these cars (2007 Charger) have a separate fuel filter somewhere I can change first ?

The overall repair is mostly the same from 2009 - 2014, but the parts absolutely do not interchange between model years or engines. You must get the correct part for your year and engine. Dont just believe the parts guy when he tries to tell you they all interchange, because they do not.
@gloriacoleman85133 жыл бұрын
I put in the pump the top plug in on the drivers side was my issue also. However the connector does fit and you can use the new top. If you look at your connector you will see a plastic piece inside. It can be any color you need to get some channel locks and squeeze the two pieces together it will click and lock as it should. When it is locked you will not see any part of the colored piece it will only be white.

Instead of checking the coil throw some throttle body cleaner is the throttle body and if it runs it’s the fuel pump or fuse/relays check fuses first

That little green tab on the top hose is a pain on the ass on my Magnum. I got it but you gotta put some ass into it to get it tightened even with the tool.

How does the top part fit on the old pump, when the wiring is it different on the replacement pump. Chrysler had a problem with putting the positive and negative together on the old pumps which failed overtime with a burnt connector, I'm going to try it your way and not use the replacement harness that came with mine. Because it doesn't fit the new pump, though they recommend it should be rewired to that?

I need to use the oem topped. I change my fuel pump yesterday. No priming and car reads low fuel.

I’m going to check the fuses first then move on to the pump. I was thinking about doing the hammer method but I’m just gonna but that tools to remove the ring

Great video. Hard to find videos for a charger for some reason. My car seems to turn off when i reverse or am coming to a stop. Not always but it is becoming more frequent. Going to see if my fuel pump needs replacing

+Sergio Muñiz could be other problems, don't be quick to replace the pump. Could be a large vacuum leak or a stuck open egr. Get it tested before replacing. Thanks for watching 👍

I ended up replacing the EGR and the problem persisted. After countless searching and youtubing I finally realized that the EGR valve is supposed to have a gasket and mine did not and don't know what happened to it (either it fell off when I took it out and didn't realize it or it never had one though i doubt it.) Either way I went to the car shop to buy this gasket for 2$ and now my car runs like new. I also went ahead and bough the repair manual for my car in which I learned that there is supposed to be and o-ring AND a gasket on the egr valve *FACEPALM*. moral of the story... I should've bought the manual first haha.

Yes there should be gasket on the egr, without a gasket there would be a large leak (similar to a egr stuck open) and your car would turn off soon after turning it on. It's very likely the gasket fell off without you noticing it. Nice to see that i wasnt far off from what the problem was the first time we talked 😊Glad you got it fixed 💪👍

So quick update. I returned the Carquest brand and got a Delphi 18 gallon pump. It's been installed for about 2 months and so far so good. I noticed right off the bat that it's much quieter than the Carquest brand. So I don't know if it was because of the brand or if it was because I put a 19 gallon pump in. Also the fuel gauge is reading correctly now so I definitely think that problem was because I put the 19 gallon pump in a 18 gallon tank. Anyway, for all those out there that experience this problem, I would stay away from the Carquest brand and at the very least get a Delphi if not a Mopar. Hope this helps someone. For those that don't know, this is an update because I put a 19 gallon Carquest pump in a 18 gallon tank. Only because the Carquest 18 gallon had different fittings and wouldn't work. It failed 2 months in

Did you get any codes pop up? If so, what was the code?

Good walk-through! 178K miles on stock pump? Wow... I usually see pumps fail at 90k to 100k on VW/ & Audi's. No easter eggs spotted! LOL

Sergio Muñiz if it drives fine most of the time it probably isn’t the problem. Also put your ear down on the rear seat cushion driver side and plug your other ear while a helper turns the key from off to run. You will hear the pump for a very short time and then you most likely won’t hear it after that. If you hear it come on, it’s most like fine. The intermittent stalling issue is electrical. Don’t let anybody sell you a bunch of unnecessary parts. First disconnect the battery. Then go around and disconnect, clean, sand to good raw clean metal, and reconnect all ground straps. There are two near the battery in the trunk and several under the hood. Then disconnect, clean with high quality electrical cleaner like DeoxyIt, use dielectric grease on the connection, put back together, and repeat for every connector you can get to. The PCM is under the passenger side cowl at the base of the windshield. The little plastic grille looking part co es off with a body clip remover and the PCM is held in place with one bolt and comes right out. Disconnect, clean, reconnect. Be careful on all the connectors to unlock them properly, usually there is a tab that slides to unlock. Also don’t stress the connectors where the wire goes into the connector too much. The TIPM is under your underhood fuse block and if you’re brave enough, clean those connectors also. The infrastructure of the car is very interdependent and any little glitch in a connector that matters, which is almost all of them, can cause the engine to shut down. It’s all about self preservation as far as the computer and drivetrain are concerned. Of something doesn’t seem right to the system, it shuts down to hopefully prevent catastrophic engine or transmission failure . Notice how the car starts right back up after it shuts off? Glitch shut it down. Like your computer at home, if it doesn’t like what’s going on, shut it down and when it refreshes, all of the ills have been at least temporarily wiped away. But they can come back, and who knows when. My 06 Magnum RT started shutting off after about 160,000 miles, and was furiously intermittent. I went through the above described procedure except I haven’t done the PCM or TIPM yet but it has not shut off yet since then, except once when I drove it hard and got it hot and high G force maneuvers were involved and finally it shut off. I still do not have an absolute solution but I am narrowing it down. I am convinced that for all of these videos about thenLX cars shutting down and people replacing parts and it seems to fix the problem at least temporarily is simply because when you replace the part, you have to disconnect it and my theory is that just doing that might help with an intermittent connection enough to at least temporarily fix the problem. Let me know if these things help. I’m on a mission to get to the bottom of this issue.

Also I might be wrong but in another video the guy opened both sides and it appeared that the driver’s side is the pump and the passenger side is the regulator and filter. The wire sheathing had come off and was partially blocking the filter. Not good. Bare wires in a gas tank, also not good. That video was awesome too but now I can’t find it even though I saved it. I may link that one in the future
