Luke Shaffer it’s definitely more fun to connect with whatever the music is creating. I’d be grinning my ass off for this but for something a little more intense and serious I’d be scowling and it would still be fun. It’s fun to make good music regardless of what you have to convey

This... is.... FANTASTIC. Looking past the fact that they have more clarity than most of the DCI lines that competed, these dudes brought ENERGY to an audience that was *not* giving it up for them, and they performed the hell out of an entertaining 9 minutes. The writing is solid, the playing is solid. Come to WGI, E-Sarn.

It's stupid to call him an idiot, but I mean, many of the dci lines had far more clarity than E-sarn, and realistically a drumline like E-sarn wouldn't be able to compete with most of the wgi drumlines. That's not to say they're not freaking awesome, obviously. They have way more energy and showmanship than the other drumlines that competed.
@dodobobby56174 жыл бұрын

Great playing! Love seeing the passion in these guys! Sorry w that there was only a mediocre crowd there to cheer you on......
Agree that precision is important, but they understand that they are performing for an audience also. Some of the drumcorps could focus on that aspect a bit more as much of the energy nowadays goes into making it as complicated as possible, but forgetting the audience would like to see a musical, fun, beautiful and interesting show, not only technical achievements.

I think they won because of originality. All the other drumlines just focus so hard on technical studies in like 7/8 time and trying to be as stiff and mean looking as possible that it loses its entertainment especially for non music people.

I almost feel bad that this was the moment all of the drum battle teams were working towards...yet there is hardly anybody in the stands. Barely any cheering...I would love to see it live. 8:40 That one guy not even clapping, but just sitting there. They deserve better.
Except, this portion of DCI is Drumline Battle. Its not physically scored. It's merely judged on creativity you use with skill. That's very different from traditional Drum Corps competition.

You are preaching to the choir, brother. Having said that, gas, adjusted for inflation, is only marginally higher in cost than back in the VFW hey-day of corps when some states alone had hundreds of marching groups. What has really changed is there is now only 1 competitive regional event per large area. Corps used to be able to do a complete summer tour without having to travel more than 300 miles in any given direction. Those days are done.
I wonder if they are involved in the indoor programs that exist in thailand, just last year in WGI there was a group in Thailand that competed in Percussion Independent World. I was bummed that group didn't make finals, but there are Circuits in Thailand believe it or not!
