It’s not about me wanting to go back and play Red War, it’s about all the new players that don’t wanna play Destiny because of this. I know plenty of that if they started playing Destiny, I would definitely go back and play through that old stuff with them and they would know what’s going on.

The thing I also like about Palworld is it gives me reasons to capture pals that I otherwise wouldn’t capture. For example in Pokémon I would go with having a party with a theme and ignoring every single other Pokémon and can totally beat the base game no problem. In Palworld each pal has a task within the base that they specialize in so yes I need to have them.

I look at live service distribution/selling in this way: upon purchase of whatever expansion or story content in a live service game, the amount of time one has access to said content is conducive to what was paid. For instance, if some content is vaulted after being accessible for two years, the two years it was accessible is within reason in regards to what was charged for the service/content. That is, the value of that $30 or $40 spent on that content has been obtained. Also, when paying for something that is a service, especially one like Destiny that is continuously updated, I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect perpetual access to a piece of content that is, more often than not, forgotten or overshadowed by the new content that's constantly being added to the game.

For some reason I love algebra. When Fran brought up the algebra problem for Alan Wake 2, I immediately grabbed a pen and paper and started solving it. BTW, if there are 200 vehicles and 754 tires like Fran said, there are 177 cars and 23 bikes.

To solve it, x = cars and y = bikes. Set two equations: x+y=200 4x+2y=754 Solve for x or y in one equation (I solved for y and got y=200-x). Then plug that into the second equation and solve for the other variable: 4x+2(200-x)=754 4x+400-2x=754 2x=754-400 x=354/2 x=177 Then you back and plug that variable into the first equation: y+177=200 y=200-177 y=23

We PAY for Destiny on a content basis (expansions & seasons primarily), but Bungie manages content like it's a service. That's the disconnect that needs to be reconciled. People certainly get upset when their favorite content leaves Netflix or XGP, but they also get new content from those services without getting nickel-and-dimed. You pay for a certain level of access to a service and the content fluctuates as time passes. We were charged specifically for the *content* in Forsaken and then it was removed from being playable without ever being made F2P (at the very least)

Nobody played old content because you had to DELETE YOUR CHARACTER to replay it. I'm so fucking tired of hearing that shit argument. Everyone wants to throw a fit about Ubisoft saying we should be fine not owning games but they're completely fine with this.

​@@Trocify225This is such a bad take, and one I see often. It's factually inaccurate. They've never charged us for anything they once took away. Ever. You know why? They've *actually* never brought back anything that was removed from D2. What they did was ENHANCE some old content, which was then added to the game for everyone, FREE OF CHARGE. Am I wrong? Change my mind.

According to Bungie, the game got too big. The game would have been close to if not over 200GB in size if everything was still available. Bungie didn’t want console players to have D2 as the ONLY game installed on their consoles. Also, Bungie said that the bigger the game is, the easier something can break and the harder it will become to fix. Right now D2 is about 100GB in size, with at least 1/3 of legacy content removed. WoW is around 120GB in size, and looking into this for a minute, a good of amount of content has been removed from WoW too. Warframe is only 50GB in size, and yes, content has even been removed from Warframe too. So no, Bungie is not the only company that removed a lot of content from its life-service game…

I love this podcast, but I don’t understand how we criticize the new player experience while also justifying the removal of story that would improve it for new players. Conversations like this remind me why I appreciate voices like Paul Tassi’s. The main reason it should come back, even in the form of a standalone game, is to help onboard players to the story. It doesn’t hurt current players to Bungie’s benefit. I get why y’all feel the way you do. It serves you no purpose, you already played it, but there’s an entire group of new and prospective players who would benefit greatly by having access to the basic story of Destiny 2 before it ends. Bungie’s development backend isn’t really my job to consider as a player. It’s not unreasonable in any gaming community to want the story to exist so I can run my friends through it so we can play the newest stuff together and make sense of it. It’s just an industry standard-one that Bungie can’t keep. Next time the DCV comes up, and it will as it’s constantly causing issues for new and returning players, I’d ask for their perspectives to be considered before going along with it. It just stings each time I hear y’all chat about it because a very important voice isn’t, and can’t really, be at the table.

Watts pretty much summed up how I feel about Avowed. It looks nice graphically but, the animations and combat look stiff and very dated.
