Razbam adjusted the flight model some time ago, so if you're coming too heavy, you're gonna run into big problems. Make sure your landing weight is well within parameters and don't forget to activate the h2o.

Great video. I never had trouble landing but i think I'll land much better putting the nozzles down early and using pitch to maintain forward flight with that more traditional style flare at the end rather than maintaining level flight and adjusting nozzles constantly.
@CommanderSteinsch4 жыл бұрын
I can't imagine myself maintaining level flight by managing nozzles constantly, that requires skills. Well done! ;) However, the manual instructs to set the nozzles to hover stop position out of the groove. That's one less thing you need to worry about while approaching the boat.

I can do a rear approach landing on the Tarawa but that side slip thing is still alien to me. Any tips on making it easier
@CommanderSteinsch4 жыл бұрын
What goes wrong when you get to the crossing stage?
@louhodo57614 жыл бұрын
@@CommanderSteinsch the aircraft does not want to move... If I roll to far it will want to yaw. And when I counter with rudder, once I release the rudder it wants to yaw back the other direction. It is a handful. I can land pretty reliably with a rear approach. But it that side slip that is hard for me.
@CommanderSteinsch4 жыл бұрын
When you start crossing, don't roll too much. Keep counteracting with tiny but steady rudder then decrease pressure on them smoothly.
@CommanderSteinsch4 жыл бұрын
Also, as you roll, you're losing a bit of lift, so increase power accordingly

@alecisla3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I needed to reverse while manoeuvring on the Tarawa yesterday and remembered your comment! Nozzles fully extended at 98 degrees will push a heavy Harrier backwards! Thank you for all the tips, been practicing my landings using your video and getting better every time! Now I crash on the deck instead of the water!!! :D
@adraen59423 жыл бұрын
@@alecisla Alright, so it's an old message, but I'll still leave this here in case someone inexperienced comes and takes that advice : If you reverse, do NOT try to use your brakes (same thing with the viggen actually) put your nozzles back and gently add power to stop your momentum, otherwise you'll just slam your tail on to the runway
