GREAT tutorial (absolute essential for newbies like me) - love your presentation style, nice and clear audio, great video quality. You have managed to provide a very informative tutorial without referring to too much technical stuff at this early stage - something other presentations do all too often to their detriment. No hesitation in subscribing - will be watching all your A-10C tutorials whilst trying to follow along in real-time. Thanks for taking the time to prepare and upload these excellent resources and of course for sharing your knowledge on this aircraft - much appreciated.

I've probably flown every flight sim made since 1979 and did it without issue until DCS. The DCS plane simulations make all the other flight sims over the years seem like toys in comparison. I'd about given up on it until I found your tutorials. Well done. Thumbs up and subscribed.

Wow! What a great job. I have had DCS and the Warthog for nearly two years and hardly looked at it as it just seemed so intimidating. I really think that you can get me started with these videos and this one in particular is THE perfect start. No one on the planet could have done it any better. Thank you so much.

greatly appreciated, new to DCS but love the A10 (and i'm a brit!) I have bought the thrustmaster warthog HOTAS setting all up and now realise that this is going to a long but worthwhile journey! once again many thanks just started the tutorials need to sort out setting up the Thrustmaster HOTAS ( not a simple task its self!) and off we go!

This is great, exactly what I was looking for. I still haven't chosen my first aircraft for DCS World yet, but am thinking the A10c will be it. Thank you for making this!

Thanks, glad you liked it. the A-10C is, IMO, far and away the most complete and comprehensive module, and (again IMO) one of the best suited for the type of sim DCS is. there are so many things you can learn, so many systems to take the time and master but once you understand the basics the plane usable in 99% of situations. about the only thing it doesnt do well is air to air, and you can still do some pretty amazing things in close with aim 9s and the gun.

That's what I've been reading. I'm more of fan of air-to-ground anyway and have been trying to figure out which plane to start with. I'm also hoping to stay relevant in multiplayer games. I know there's a deep time investment even just to understand how to properly start and taxi any of the DCS planes. :) I've also considered the helicopters (I'm a big fan of helicopters, probably more so than airplanes), but after watching some people struggle with them on youtube I'm not sure if I'm masochistic enough for that. How much time do you think is needed learning the A10c before someone could get it into the air and properly navigate?
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
+slandshark how much experience/knowledge do you have on flying/flight sims? the a10 is a simple matter to fly, if not starting from a cold and dark, you could up and lying in 5-10 minutes if you understand rudimentary flying. navgstion is a lottle more complicated, but only becauae of the unfamiliarity with nav systems and how to manipulate them. the gps nav is simple in this plane, select a steerpoint and look at the hud, point the plane at the steerpoint marker, and repeat. no better plane then the a10 if you like A-G.

Well, not a ton of experience, but I do enjoy flight sims. Most of my recent experience is in arcade like games, War Thunder, Battlefield, etc. I almost bought MS Flight simulator X during the recent steam sale, but decided to invest in DCS instead. I picked up a full CH Products HOTAS a few months back, but haven't really used it yet. I spent some time yesterday trying to learn the CH manager software to better understand keybindings. Eventually I will watch all of your tutorial vids on the a10, so I imagine I'll have at least the basic knowledge.
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
+slandshark if youre interested in flight in general , you cant go wrong with FSX. its old and arguably "boring" (no blowing stuff up etc) but it will teach you the basics of aerodynamics and how a plane flies, and more, and all of it can apply to what youre doing in DCS. as far as controls go, DCS is pretty controller friendly in a sense that you can do much of the control setup from within the game, and possibly not even have to use joystick software. assuming you have enough buttons, you can almost have every HOTAS function mapped to the stick if you set it up right.

Great tutorial. This aircraft definitely has one of the more intimidating cockpits (so far, I've got really deep into the AV-8B & F-5E systems, looking forward to the F/A-18C Hornet.) I use the Oculus and it makes situational awareness and cockpit interaction easier and an absolute joy. The A-10C will definitely keep me busy for awhile, though. It is one of most unique aircraft, and certainly an air to ground badass in any conflict. Subscribed.

hey Kmbtkrl, I;m definitely recommending your tutorials to some mates of mine who like me really love the A10 (Hope the US airforce does not retire it too soon, the F35 will never, NEVER do what the A10 can as a ground support aircraft...the only thing that can replace the A10...is another A10, cant see why they don't just set up a A10 production line again but with all the new tech added not to much though as this jet needs to be flown as well as just tech driven, I'm sure a new model with upgraded engines and modern improvements would give the modernised A10 (A 11 ?) another 40 years of US dominance with the best ground support/attack aircraft in the world! Once again many thanks for this invaluable series! (excuse the UK spelling!)

Hi, how do you set this kind of visualization in the cockpit? I love how do you move camera around in the cocpit, it seems very realistic
@Kmbtkrl7 жыл бұрын
marcello turturiello i use a thing called TrackIR, its tech thst uses an ir camera to track your head movement and translate it to camera movement in-game.

Thanks ,good job

How are you moving around / slewing your basic viewing? a Mouse? May I ask how do you preserver your ability to slew around like you are doing while still having the yellow cross to push buttons and manipulate dials in the virtual cockpit? Thank you!
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
my head look is controlled by TrackIR which consists of an infrared camera and a clip with some IR LEDs. the clip attaches to your headphones, and the camera translates your head movement into head movement in the sim, so by turning my head slightly i can move my ingame "head" around. you can pick one up for around 150-200 USD. takes a little getting used to but its indespensable once you get the hang of it
@ChuckMahon8 жыл бұрын
+Kmbtkrl can you speak to best practice without TrackIR???
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
+Chuck Mahon if you are interested in a do-it-yourself solution, there is a program called freetrack that you can download for free, basically a opensource headtracking software. woukd require a minor modification to a standard webcam and building of a light model to fit your headset. a bit of work but far cheaper than TrackIR. the freetrack website has very good instructions, too. Otherwise, the best solution would be to set up your view pan controls on to a hat switch. that way you can pan your view around without going "hands off", and retain your mouse for clicking around the cockpit

+Arnav Behari not sure if it would work but might be better than m&k, you would still be using many, many keyboard commands for the. various buttons and controls.
@werewolf13367 жыл бұрын
If you do that then you'll end up never flying with DCS. You need a HOTAS Joystick. Saitek makes a number of good ones the X-52 or the X-55/56 are good choices. Thrustmaster makes one that is as close to a duplicate of the real A-10C HOTAS as you can get but it is expensive - $400 plus. In any event trying to use the M&K in a flight sim as complex as DCS is really a non-starter.
@Cygnus_B8 жыл бұрын
What joystick do you use? :)
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
I use the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, but you can use almost any joystick, with the right setup. A good stick and throttle HOTAS is recommended though. Before I got the warthog I used a Saitek X52
@Cygnus_B8 жыл бұрын
+Kmbtkrl hey man! do you have the profile for the x-52 saved somewhere in your pc? oh and also, is it important to use the x-52 profiler? mine keeps crashing everytime i click on it.
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
I dont think I do. If I remember correctly I did all my binding thru DCS, and didnt use the profiler. I think, using the pinky button on the stick as a modifier, that the X52 had just enough hat switches to get by on all the basic functions. (DMS, TMS, CMS,Slew, Trim, Coolie).
