Really good tutorial series - especially useful after all the latest changes!

An excellent tutorial, thanks very much for posting. I've been flying the big cat for a while and have recently taken up the Harrier. It was somewhat overwhelming at first so I just used the auto-start button to get up an running but thanks to your breakdown videos it's all clicked now.

Hi, thanks for the vid @14:00 you say you flip the nozzle to 95% but I don’t see where it says 95%. In fact the thing you moved had numbers around 50 next to it? Am I missing something?
@deephack5 ай бұрын
Good catch. It is indeed 55 degrees that I set the stop to not 95. 95 would be a braking stop so don't do that 🙂

Decent video. Don't think you'll be pulling off a STO from a pad like that fully loaded -- me thinks you'll be in the drink for sure. FYI, there are things you missed if you are going to do an actual STO. For starters, on the STO VREST sub-page, you should be entering the runway magnetic heading using the option buttons on the top left and the UFC. You should be entering the runway length (or remaining length of where you are going to be starting your roll. Also enter the OATC (outside air temp Celsius) if it doesn't match. Then you need to press the ABRT button the STO page, which automatically compute the additional values that had *** next to them. You didn't know what these are, but basically they are things like your ground roll (takeoff distance), distance for clearing 50 foot obstacle, stopping distance if you have to abort takeoff roll, etc. Then you want to depress the VSTOL HUD mode (even if it is already in that mode). Then press the button next to the NRAS to the left of the UFC and enter the NRAS from the STO page into the scratchpad and hit enter. This will box the airspeed on your HUD when you reach NRAS. You can also adjust the pitch carrots if you want something other than 14 degree pitch after you lift off.

Thanks for the comment and clarifications on the VREST parameters. I actually go over these in more detail in my field ops video later in the series as at the time of recording this video VREST was not fully modelled. The STO I do in the next video and I use the grass strip at the rear of the FARP which has plenty of space.

Nice video. Just learning the Harrier. Are there any significant differences in YOUR start procedurs post .7 update? Thanks again and new subscriber.
@deephack3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No differences in startup for 2.7.

So... what's different when starting on the boat?
@deephack3 жыл бұрын
Main difference is that you should start the procedure by plugging in the deck cable and then using the SEA alignment mode of the INS. Apart from that startup is the same.

Is it up to date? Especialy the INS align?

Yes, this is still how it all works.

Thanks for this - I want to get into the Harrier and this looks like a good system. If this is actually a mission with a mission file it would be great to make it available.

Since your aircraft is armed with heavy bombs and tanks, is vertical take off doable in a Farp? Thx
@deephack3 жыл бұрын
Not with this loadout no. Vertical takeoff limit is about 20,500 lbs.

@deephack I will be buying the Harrir soon. It seems so versatile. I am planning on playing FARP missions and loading up with lots of ordinance, then doing a vertical takeoff and refuelling in air. Is it possible to takeoff eith full payload and only some fuel, enough to get up to a refueller and fill up? Is the max fuel too low to be viable?
@racingtheweb Жыл бұрын
As far as I know VTO is possible only with no payload and with a minimum of fuel @@2KOOLURATOOLGaming

No, they are in the core sim. Check out static objects in the mission editor :-D
