Wait, people actually take off without full burner in jets that have a burner?
@frederf32275 жыл бұрын
Small note on takeoff technique: Begin raising the nose 10 (15 AB) knots prior to computed liftoff speed. Don't wait for liftoff speed before raising nose. In this case 145 knots for 155 liftoff. Pitch rate should remain positive (~3 dps) throughout the liftoff and normal pitch at moment of liftoff is usually 8-12 degrees. The initial climb out is often at a higher pitch than was the case at the moment of liftoff. This takeoff was at a pitch of about 5 degrees and at a low or zero pitch rate which resulted in a faster than desired takeoff which did not positively leave the ground. Notice the tires recontacted the runway briefly. In order not to over-rotate the airplane when using the technique described above an absolute pitch limit of about 15 degrees should be observed near the ground as well as ensuring that initial rotation is not less than the recommended speed or rating the nose up too aggressively. An example takeoff using this technique might be after burner takeoff beginning at 145 knots, rotating at 3 degrees per second until an attitude of 12 degrees pitch. During this maneuver and due to the combined effects of acceleration and pitch rate the airplane lifts off with transient parameters of 160 knots and 10 degrees pitch. Other tip is that for most taxiway turns I find keeping the yellow centerline at the 135 degree corner of the eyebrow shield keeps the nosewheel on the paint. Other than those two additions everything looks spot on. Well done and godspeed.

So how many sim pilots out there are getting a Huge falcon 3 / 4 Vibe from these videos. Like many I cut my teeth on Falcon spending many many many hours flying over Korea. Seeing the F16 cockpit again after all this time, feels like coming home. It just looks and feels like an old friend. Having a full fidelity F16 is a dream come true even for this Mud mover, Now if ED can also manage to implement or better the dynamic campaign engine of the Falcon series, then my god The dream will be complete.

Haha loved the “Doug Masters” quip! Funny thing is, Iron Eagle is what inspired me to absolutely love the F-16! I immediately went out and bought a 1:48 scale model of it and a 1/16 scale model of the cockpit! Thought about that movie the whole time I built those! And now, so many years laters thanks to ED’s incredible sim platform, I, and so many others, get to unleash the “Doug Masters” within us. I know, I’m being stupid, but man I’m excited for this! I love the F-15, F-18 and so many others, but the F-16 is a fighter pilot’s fighter! Like the Spitfire and the Mustang, it was made with every consideration to give the pilot the edge in a dogfight. Power, visibility, maneuverability and firepower - for it’s small size, it is a BEAST! Thank you for this. I can’t wait to become Doug, but without that cheesy tape player strapped to my leg! I bought my Rift S just for this & I hope everybody has as much with this as I plan to.

Constructive criticism. It would be far better to start with some external camera panning around the plane before going to cockpit view. You may be very familiar with these planes but most of your audience are not. It's also 'setting the scene' best practice. Also midday lighting is very harsh and makes viewing internal controls difficult. The capture software either needs a wider aperture setting or increased gamma / brightness when processing.
