DCS F-5E #6 - Emergency Landings

This lesson teaches you how to perform a single engine landing and a landing without your landing gear extended. Some basic systems knowledge is introduced as well so you can understand what factors you need to account for in these situations.

Just to clarify, if the alternate extension provides three green lights the gear is fully down, and rocking the aircraft is not necessary. That, in conjunction with positive G, is the procedure if the alternate extension fails to get the gear fully down. Without the utility hydraulic system normal brakes are unavailable, however: "Should the utility system fail, the brake valve acts as a brake master cylinder, and brake pressure is proportional to the amount of foot pressure applied to the brake pedal. After utility system failure, unlimited brake applications are still available." For gear up, you can also land with all gear up in if you are in a clean no pylon configuration.

Why fuel tanks are recommended for no gear landing? It's counterintuitive :)

If you choose to attempt a gear up landing without those tanks it can cause pilot injury due to the nose slamming down on the runway.

How come you landed with your centerline tank?

I was working on the ground attack portion, but after a lot of testing I found I couldn't use its Dash 34 (weapons delivery documentation) because the way DCS modeled the weapons (mostly drag I believe) is incorrect. I didn't want to make videos using bad data as I aim to do stuff that's reflective of real life use. I'd have to add a disclaimer that the F-5 in it's current iteration can't be used in accordance with the Dash 34.

@@RequiemsACTL oh! honestly thats why i was here. your videos were so professional and yet approachable. If you do consider continuing, you and i both know there are plenty other components to tackle such as radar, rwr, even a radio and navigation would be nice and applicable to other planes.
