i know youre throttle is at idle at the start, is it idle all the way through, or do you throttle up once your opponent begins to over shoot? Or just "read the room" type of situation? Whats the throttle doing throughout?

I've been watching these for years - often multiple times, sometimes years apart - and I've yet to see a video on here that's not jam packed with technical information and useful examples, all presented in a way that makes TACTL one of the very best channels on You Tube. I just can't speak highly enough about it. Even all these years later.

For mixture just lean it out (reduce it) until you see RPM drop, then increase it a little bit to bring the RPM back

@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 28 күн бұрын
I think at best you can adjust a graphic setting to increase the landscape visibility distance out to 150km but there's basically a bubble around the plane, so the higher you go the more likely you'll see blurry terrain way out in front

I started playing this game just recently. Thanks to your tutorials with an articulate explanation for this aircraft, I can take off and land without much hassle. Still need to train more till I'm confident enough to join multiplayer. Next would be bombing and gunnery with this aircraft, and that'll take sometime too.

I am a regular viewer of your videos. I would appreciate it if you could explain to me how your computer is built in terms of hard drives. I run some heavy simulators + STEAM and they require a large amount of space and speed. A. What drives do you have on your computer? B. Are they all SSD? C. Do you have any external drives on which your simulators sit? D. Where are your simulators installed?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL Ай бұрын
Hey Kfirc I'm sorry for the late reply here. I have 2 Nvme SSDs (1Tb + 2Tb). I put my sims on the the 2Tb one (Samsung 990 Evo) as it has the faster read/write speed between the two. However, I do not use Steam for them and always buy standalone.

Other manuals say you should pull 1% of your CAS in G-load during the kiss-off break (so, 3.5Gs for 350 kts), easing off as the airspeed decreases. It never worked for me, turn ends up too tight. Should I just keep a 2g turn?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL Ай бұрын
You can try it and see how it feels for you, I know of that 1% technique so that is better to use if you're coming in at a non-standard speed. At 350kts starting you'll never reach 3.5G...as soon as you start pulling G the speed begins falling off, so you'd have to relax whatever G you reach once you hit 1% of the airspeed and let G come down as airspeed decreases (like you said).

Here's a heads up. The VKB build video for this combination is wrong. After it is put together the tech goes through the button setup procedure to assign subaddress numbers to the three THQ's. They have to have separate address or they conflict with each other. However, if you buy the combination kit the factory has already set separate subaddresses; THQ-V is sub3, THQ left is sub1, and THQ right is sub 2. The KG12 grip buttons will only function if the THQ is set to sub4. Only a module with sub1 can be changed using the button method, otherwise you have to change the jumpers manually. They are tiny and difficult to handle. You can move the KG12 to a right hand position like I did by separating the two desk top THQ's and flip-flopping them, and then reconnect them. Not too difficult to do. But the video must have been using separately purchased modules as separate modules always come from the factory set to sub1.

You may not be checking this anymore but any advice as to how to bind the flaps in IL2? The default key bind is F but however I bind them in IL2 the behaviour is odd - I have 3 behaviours, up down and neutral but no corresponding to the positions on the controller.

It honestly depends on the flaps in the airplane, flaps in the Spitfire and Yak utilise "split flaps" which are all or nothing. Others like the P-51 happen in stages, so it's successive presses to extend/retract flaps, while others like the Bf 109 need you to hold the key/assignment for the duration you want to extend or retract (like an axis in a way). The flap control on this hardware is either a switch or an axis, so it isn't ideal for every airplane, but you could map the increase/decrease flaps key to that control to use it for any airplane.

Is there a settings where you can have all aircraft just be automatically set accordingly or is it only the bf109's that have this automatic engine management available and the rest of the aircrafts require manual control? Thanks.

There's a difficulty setting relating to engine management you can use to let RPM, mixture, and radiators be automatically controlled.

I’ve been trying to fly the P40, but it seems like it’s much slower than the 109’s. I can’t climb after them without stalling yet they seem to be climbing without any loss in momentum. Not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong, but I can’t seem to get maximum performance out of the plane. Can you give me some advice on what I might be doing wrong potentially?

WinWing are scammers. Don't buy their products unless you're willing to accept to be scammed in case of problem. I had to cancelled my order promptly due to false informations provided by their so called support and website. They acknowledged the issue nevertheless they shipped the cancelled order. This was followed by months of messaging to their support in order to get my money back (367$). When they finally came with the refund they charged me (stole me) 122$ for shipping and various taxes. Just an amazing experience altogether. Take my advice, stick with occidental brands that provide actual support and apply good business practices like VKB, Virpil, Thrustmaster. Don't support these Chinese scammers.

Requiem, do you ever use the 'looking up and over the nose' view to make shots or do you prefer using the sights? Any thoughts on the matter?

Not really. I haven't flown in a while but I try and keep the same sight picture when flying and shooting. Adjusting the field of view doesn't change it too much though, so you can zoom in a bit to help with aiming.

Re-engaging with the game after a two year absence. . . Don’t know how faithful the flight model is but this is such a pleasant airplane to fly. The advice on the video made it easier to get started, of course, but good cockpit visibility, the engine doesn’t automatically put itself in the self-devouring mode if you go into a dive, smooth handling etc. Kind of slow, though, not a plane for a congenitally bad dogfighter to take into a fight.
