Thank you very much for your videos and the time you dedicate to help us. I don't know if I'm wrong, but I discovered that if I select a TCN before configuring the DATALINK, the TCN information is available in the HSD and no Datalink information is lost. Greetings

That sounds rather like a bug to me. TACAN info should be lost on switching on the datalink as it used the same radio hardware.

@@deephack Well, while this bug is present, I take advantage of using the tacan at my convenience. In ME I leave a TCN terrestrial equipment installed on the bullseye, and thus in addition to having Datalink I have information from the BE... I know, it's cheating. Thanks for answering cheers

Hey Deephack, really loving the tutorials, bought the JF-17 as my first DCS aircraft and loving it. Wondering if your mission is stricktly air to air, would you always run a datalink or can you still IFF without a datalink say if I needed to run the wmd7 pod for ground targets but knew their were patrols in the area. Thanks in advance.

You will generally want the datalink when doing A/A work. The IFF system is completely seperate however and so you could use it without the datalink.

I'm currently having an issue where once the plane hits bingo fuel the Data link system stops working, and I can't seem to figure out how to get it turn back on either that or its happening when i turn on the approach mode for landing. I do know the network box under the Clink page keeps flipping to off immediately after pressing the button though.

Approach mode will activate the TACAN system which is linked to COM2. This in turn will disable datalink. You can't use both at the same time.

Hi, Deepchack - I have been having a issue where I input 199 and it cycles to 001 and wont let me enter it in to go to Data Mode. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Not entirely sure, first thought would be to check if you have TACAN turned on as it's not possible to use both at once.

@@deephack I found the answer - I had pushed the button on the radio console that switches comm 2 to the radio console. This would not let me enter the data link. This plane is weird in the fact that the data link/TCN and the radio share Comm 2. I was determined to find out the issue and that was it.

Hello Sir in DCS mission editor what are the ground units that works for Datalink or similar to Awacs?

EWR radars (any unit with that prefix in the Air defense category in the ME) will behave pretty much the same as an AWACS. Otherwise, China has the KJ-2000 AWACS available.

Is the block 3 of this jet released yet?

I don't know if Deka intend to provide a block 3 version of the aircraft. It is a sizeable upgrade and even IRL only 10 such aircraft exist to date.

Great video, but when I hit 199 and select it just goes back to 001. is that an issue with the mission i'm on?

It could be, perhaps the mission maker has changed the default presets.

Did you ever figure out what was causing you to hit 199 and go back to 001, I am having the same issue.

@@Synoopy2 I never did. The issue only happens on one particular mission however, so process of elimination seems to point that way

This JF 17 Doesn't Seem Real. Airliners A320neo Can be Fly By Wire "Auto Pilot" Controlled. Thats Because They Don't Make Sharp Sudden Evasive Manuvers. A Real Fighter Jet is Like the DCS Mirage 2000c Simulator. A lot of the Weapons on the DCS JF 17 and DCS F15E - Seam Unrealistic. Laser Guided Bombs. Paint the Ground with a Laser - You're Gonna Get Fired at Aswell. A Real Fighter Jet is Like the DCS Mirage 2000c Simulator.
