I've just recently started flying the black shark 2 and I absolutely love it. So I decided to do a quick introduction and a startup tutorial of this magnificent attack helicopter.

Hi! Great video about a fantastic module (by far my favorite in the game!). I was hoping I could give my 2 cents about a few things: I believe the engine (turbine) RPM gauges just display percentages, with the engine at about 72% at idle. I'm not sure if there's actually a way to see engine speed other than just a percentage. I noticed you turned on the LWS (laser warning system, switch on the rear panel) but to turn on the flare system (counter measures system) there is a switch on the right rear panel, that's labeled something like UV-26. It might not be "UV" but I'm pretty sure the 26 is correct. I can't check right now, but I can later. :) The yellow levers on the rear left wall (the ones you can't click) are the throttle levers for each engine. There are 3 or 4 settings (I forget exactly), but you want to use the setting that is 2nd from the top, this setting is "Auto" where the computer system manages engine speed while the player controls the collective (collective and throttle are different). Also, the electrical generators won't engage if the switches are off (right wall panel, near the front) or if the engines are at idle RPM. You have to get the engines running at normal speed (throttle levers at "Auto") then engage the electric generators. The power the generators make is needed for some of the systems, like the Shkval targeting/navigation system. Let me know if I can help out anyway else. I've been studying and studying this module (and flying it of course :) haha) and I'm always trying to learn it as best as I can!

One of the best modules ever! Was so much fun learning to fly, then combat action especially multiplayer. Bought it since day 1 and I still have fun flying it.

Yeah I totally agree! I really wish I had some more time to enjoy this module more though. Viggen and mirage is taking up all my free time.

Nice video and good tutorial, understood a lot more than with the in-game training. Thanks.

Coaxial helicopters dont need any tail rotor, as the torque produced by the two counter-rotating main rotors is symetrical

Subscribed. this is really great and detailed video. its 2017 and I am a pretty new player of dcs :( a little bit late now

Thank you! I wish I had more time to fly the KA-50. Hopefully more video tutorials will be around the corner. :)

I just bought it last night (I'm terrible with the A10c, my other module). Hoping to enjoy some helicopter fun. I know it's 6 months later, but have you stuck with the KA50? Are you still enjoying it?

Btw the autopilot director mode just turns off the autopilot authorities while still granting dampening effects from them as long as they're on

Ok I see. Thanks! I'll remember that. :D

This was excellent, nice work! Many tutorials I've seen for DCS World do not explain the cockpit controls as well as you, or they mix too many procedures together. :) By the way, as with maybe other people who play this game, I am actually a former pilot. (I WANT BADLY to get back into flying, but I have developed epilepsy :( ) My piloting however was only in small, single engine aircraft, but piloting nonetheless. However, I am TERRIBLE at this game! LOL. I think the main problem is that I don't have a joystick and I try to do this with my keyboard only! :P

Thank you! I think it is amazing how well this module holds up in DCS despite being so old (comparatively). You absolutely should invest in a joystick. Even a cheap one will make the experience that much better. Also I find that the KA-50 gave me the best VR experience in DCS. So if you ever think about getting a VR headset for DCS I can totally recommend it if you are going to fly the KA-50. :D

One small comment- in real life you don't turn on the fuel flow until the engine is up to RPM to avoid a hot start. Just means instead of turning on the fuel and then pressing the starter, press the starter, let the engine get up to start RPM and then turn on the fuel.

Please do a nav tutorial. Also, the dual rotor system lets the aircraft fly faster. Since both rotors move in opposite directions when one blade on a rotor is retreating (less lift) another blade on the other rotor is moving forward (more lift). That's why dual rotor helicopters are generally faster than single rotor.
@creativefun36208 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! :D Didn't know that about the dual rotors. I'm looking in to making some more tutorials of the KA-50 as soon as things calms down after Christmas, including weapons management and navigation.

The engine RPM of jet engines are normally expressed as a percentage, for example, a "7" = 70% RPM.

Very incorrect startup. Running engines will not allow the navigation system to be properly coordinated. Before starting, the voice command is given to connect external power, the navigation system is switched on and coordinated, and only then the APU is started, the engines are started. Only after connecting the generators is the external power disconnected. The stop-cock of the engine opens only after 15% \ Sorry for the text, translated via google. \
