Okay let’s start with the machine guns and cannons. Again as with all things Mosquito the triple pressure gauge will need to read a minimum of 200 pounds per square inch for them to function correctly. If you receive combat damage during a sortie that reduces the pneumatic pressure below that value your cannons and machine guns will potentially stop working.
Now we open the gun master switch cover and the master switch beneath needs to be set to the down position. Both your guns and cannons are now live.
Right, so we now need to activate the reflector gun sight with the switch on junction box B. If you are flying in 2D your view point will change to a more centred position.
Your cannons are fired using the fore-finger trigger and your machine guns via the thumb operated trigger. You will obviously have those bound to your HOTAS. I have my machine guns bound to the first detent on my warthog trigger and the cannons assigned to the second detent, but that’s just a personal preference.
Right let’s pull all of that together in a strafing run.
You will need to apply a little nose down trim as you run in on your target.
Now we will set up the aircraft for a bombing run. If you forget the steps you can always refer to your kneeboard as a reminder. This kneeboard will soon be available and contains the information within the Pilot’s Notes upon which our Mosquito is based.
Your bomb control and selector switches are located beneath the Perspex cover to the right on the centre console. To access them you can depress your LEFT mouse button over the release catch.
The TOP row of switches activates the release mechanism for the wing mounted bombs. Switch 1 activates the PORT or (Left) wing release and switch 2 the STARBOARD or right wing release. When both switches are down ALL wing carried ordinance will be released together.
The MIDDLE row of switches activates the release mechanism for the bay mounted bombs. Switch 3 activates the PORT or (Left) bomb release and switch 4 the STARBOARD or right bomb release. When both switches are down ALL bay mounted ordinances will be released.
The BOTTOM row of switches activates the bomb fusing mechanism for the entire ordinance carried. Switch 5 activates NOSE fusing and ALL the bombs are NOSE FUSED when the switch is in the down position. Switch 6 behaves exactly the same but for TAIL fusing.
The entire panel is MULTIPURPOSE and can be used as a Bomb, Camera, or Tanks selector. Today we are only interested in the bombs. The panel is armed when the selector is in the down position. Also note that the Perspex cover cannot be closed whilst in this position.
Of course in you intend delivering bay mounted ordinance you will have to open the bomb bay doors. To do this depress the bomb doors selector which will then return to the centre neutral position when the action is complete and the bomb doors warning light will illuminate.
To drop your bombs you need to depress the bomb release button
Now that those steps have been completed, we need to activate the reflector gun sight again with the switch on junction box B. If you are flying in 2D your view point will change to a more centred position.
Let’s see how a bombing run turns out.
Remember you are going to want to apply a little nose down trim as you run in on the targets.

Thank you, and thank you for the kneeboard of pilots notes. I hope this trickles down to all ww2 birds and modern ones at that. In game kneeboard has been critical for me in VR and needing those memory aids…..

Couldn't agree more, should be one of final steps before release of any module to have a checklist on kneeboard. Very few do.

if its not too much of a hassle, u could go for voice attack. it has a "kneeboard" that comes along with it...

@@vicseth5556 Have that and don't use it, interferes with SImshaker at times. Plus not a fan of speaking out loud to my self. Prefer to keep it inner voice....

@@richjones859 oh... i dont mean to use it that way... you could make a hotas bind to open it... personlly, i have the pilot show it on his left leg on the Hornet, and have a hotas bind to scroll it..

Also note if you have head tracking & don't wish the auto centre to gunsight feature for 2d, it can be deactivated in the special menu. Great to see kneeboard list coming in, thank you for your work.

Ok, it's all great but can we get some suggestions about dive angles drop heights speeds, etc. I manage to hit anything only if I almost impact into the target:).

thats a very important feature for the Mosquito. No low level bombing without delayed fusing

So to aim with bombs you just line it up with the gunsight and guess when to drop?

Wonderful, thx. Although I still have a question, it might be answered in the docs etc but I haven’t seen anything yet. How low can we safely drop bombs? For the American and Brit warbirds, dropping below 3000 feet risks blowing up your own plane. For whatever reason, longer fuses maybe, the Mozzie seems fine down to at least 1500ft, lower by the look of this video. I suppose I’ll do some testing but it would be nice to have a definitive answer.

Switchology is all good but something has to be done with the center bombs exploding in air and destroying your aircraft. It has nothing to do with side slip either. Not as bad with the smaller bombs but forget about dropping the big guys. And for the record yes I’ve tried level, diving, various angles, various altitudes. I’ve managed to land the Mossie less than 5 times mostly due to my own bombs working for the Nazis.

Check to see that your settings in ME are NOT for "Unlimited Weapons". It's under Customise (Top bar) and Mission Options. Uncheck unlimited weapons. Mine was on and it was trying to replace dropped ordinance before it cleared the bay. Booom!

At altitude the crewman/navigator/radio operator/tea maker moves down there in order to uses that "bomb sight".

Roughly what point are you releasing the bombs as the target passes under the nose. Also I noted that if your dive is too steep, the bombs don't seem to drop.

Thanks Suntag. Many questions: wing bombs still not working in MP? Gunsight distance rings - any functionality yet? Tail fusing - not yet implemented? Recommendations for releasing bombs to hit desired target in terms of gunsight position, dive angle, etc.?

Currently, for releasing wing bombs in MP that you loaded yourself, hold down the bomb release button and press the drop tank jettison button as well. Guess this will be fixed soon.

there is no delayed fusing implemented yet. Hopefully this will be a thing in the near futur

Anyone know why i cant rearm the mosquito? Eaven if the plane is "cold" i cant get it to rearm.

does not seem to be much bomb help on this plane (AIMING... blowing your own plane up & bomb types/uses..etc ) thanks for letting us watch you fly tho
