This game scares me regarding the build time... It takes me, on AVERAGE, 14hrs to build a ship (That I am happy with) in Space Engineers. With Sprockets, the build time averaged eight hours. I can only imagine the number of sleepless hours I would spend "playing" this game...
@rafaeleduardoramis794717 күн бұрын
I feel this, spent somewhere around 2 days on an F-16 with an aircraft mod. between one and two weeks on an US aircraft carrier and all that for me to crash the plane into the ship after missing the arrestor cables

Potential future mini series idea; you are a small nation with fairly low military budget circa the 1960s and you need a cheap but moderately capable jet aircraft to remain at least somewhat defensively capable. Create the budget friendly export model aircraft this country purchases then create various domestic and foreign modernization packages through the proceeding decades up until the aircraft's end of service life.

came for the funky video name, stayed for the aerodynamics, metallurgy, history, design and self-destructive behavior lectures, this video feels like walking down the street and suddenly the local methhead starts shouting something about the doomsday coming and its so interesting you just have to stop and listen, but instead of a methhead its a former Lockheed Martin employee that got fired for drawing anime girls based on every single new aicraft and posting them to r/NonCredibleDefense with shocking levels of detail

10:55 - While they don't use the combustion chamber as the heat source (normally steam generated with waste heat), many large oil fired steam and diesel plants both at sea and on land preheat the fuel oil to lower viscosity and aid in proper atomization out of the burner tips/injectors. That's why this channel is great, I didn't know this was done in aviation and I learned something new. Thanks funny plane man! 19:10 - Area ruling has been used in naval architecture for over 100 years, so I guess the plane people really don't talk to the boat people. I kid, it's used for entirely different purposes, with respect to different phenomena, but I do find it amusing how the same techniques and principles are often 'rediscovered' or otherwise remade to suit different industries.

actually, while I have zero intentions of buying or playing flyout, I love watching you play, and it actually motivated me to learn blender and start working on an aircraft from scratch to use as a mod for VtolVR. I used to help my brothers with making planes for FS98/2000 and later Strike Fighters, but I never bothered with learning blender (and it has been almost a decade since I last touched a 3D graphics software), so it's been a bump ride.

@@commandergeokam2868 It depends on your major. If you’re majoring in something like civil engineering and you don’t care about it, you might have made the wrong choice. I don’t know how far you are into college, but assuming you’re a freshman, there’s still time to change your major. I think it’s best to study something you enjoy, rather than spending all your time away from the study that counts. I don’t know if that’s the answer you were looking for, and don’t take it too seriously because I’m still in high school. That’s my advice. (assuming your question wasn’t rhetorical)

The solution to me is pretty simple it seems... Just have various presets and builds for players who dont want to build everything from scratch. While still retaining the option for those who do. So just have a collection of standard parts, that the player can then build and customize upon as needed.

Just wanted to thank you for your videos. I'm trying to create a fictional (and fantastical) army, designing every weapon, vehicle and equipment from the ground up, and while I don't intend to bring the same level of practical detail as you do, your explanations make it much easier for me to understand why things exist in aircrafts and try to replicate them, at least just visually. At first, I was very intimidated by this kind of "deep dive" content, specially since it isn't my objective create anything at a simulation level, but I'm slowly getting more and more into it, nor only for reference, but for the fun of it. So thank you so much for releasing all your nerd out moments for free like this!

You nerding out about the jet engine really made me appreciate how similar a jet engine is to a rocket engine. Both are really hot, and you need a lot of power to drive the pumps(rockets use a mini rocket to drive the big engine, it's just as stupid as jets). Even as someone who hasn't watched a detail explaintion on jets(I literally didn't know what a turbofan and turbojet was until this week), I could follow along using my rocket knowledge.

> no bleed air edit: also fun fact, we can get AOA information from smart probes now; no need for AOA vanes anymore! its actually a really neat system, it uses differential pressure between the top and bottom of the air data probe to calculate AOA, and it can determine slip angle in a similar fashion, by comparing pitot pressure on two symmetrical probes on opposite sides of the aircraft. you were doing an 80s build so that would def need an AOA vane but, i just thought you might find it interesting :)
