DCS World 2.8.3 Multi-threading benchmark

Today I take a look at performance in DCS by comparing 2.8.2 and 2.8.3 both in single and multi-threaded modes. See my machine specs below.
OS: Windows 10
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (4.7Ghz running at 5.2Ghz)
Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 64Gb DDR5 6000Mhz
GPU: Sapphire RX 7900 XT Gaming

I’ve had incredible results from this in high activity areas that used to punish you. Now it’s like butter. I can’t even believe what my fps is sitting on the ground in the AH64 in Syria! Kudos to ED and this is only the first pass.

Can confirm after diving into DCS config files, there is a max fps of 180 somewhere in there. It applies to the main menu as well.

Thanks for your test. I see we have the same kind of GPU. I bought mine some weeks ago and put it in the new Intel NUC with Intel i9 13900. I thought it would be a good setup for VR (I have a HP Reverb G2), but out-of-the-box it was a crappy experience. I think it is the AMD drivers, so I'm hoping for them to get better in the future. Right now I stick to the usual monitor.

Comment for the Algorithm. This latest MT patch was full of so many great goodies.... They even "Finally" fixed the Christen Eagle II instuments.. lol

ED have done a fantastic job!!!....i have an old, low endish system (2500k,1080ti,32gb ddr3).... and even with that set-up i'm seeing significant improvements..... very pleased huge step forward!.... can you please let me know how to get the Replay bar you were using during playback?

Same here, even I run it on a 4core 3300x, rx 6650 xt 8gb with 32GB Ram at 3600MHz ive noticed some 20-30% increase in FPS (instant action F14 free flight in Syria )

My fps skyrocketed, despite my CPU only using about 25% per core and 25 Watts total (i5 10600K). This shows how badly unoptimized the old DCS was.

Lighten up bro. A lot of software you run on your PC is just as unoptimized as "old DCS"; but the developers of said software aren't admitting to you (or are incapable of knowing) how they are dropping the ball and won't invest the effort to fix it for free.

Did you look at the frame rate counts from inside the cockpit? I would think they would take a dip.

Yes, didn't see any difference. If anything they will be higher in the cockpit as less of the terrain is visible. My tests showed that terrain is the biggest effect on FPS.

what VR headset do you use, Quest 2? maybe the 35 FPS is your machine locking the framerate to the reprojection value

I get 60 FPS in ST VR which is the max for a 120hz setting. The same settings in MT drop to 20-25 fps.

In a quick test I saw a 20% increase in fps

U need to update to windows11 for higher fps in VR

Not seen any improvement in VR ,in fact exactly same fps but with more stutters in MT.
