Interesting, thanks. I was trimming same way but never realised it was adding the trim again to input. Altho in choppers I almost exclusively take trim off for landing & prefer raw inputs. But it does wear out the left leg to be sure

Hey Overkill good to see you back in DCS and enjoying the Apache. I uploaded it yesterday and it looks amazing in VR but couldn’t get the damn thing off the ground because I know nothing about helos. What’s most confusing is what to bind and where on the Hotas. Are you gonna do a video about binding control on the Warthog maybe in the future like you did with the jet modes. Hope all is well take care.

Lots of the button placement comes down to personal preference. Keep practicing, my first flight lasted about 5 seconds, and now I can pull off the janky-ist hover ever lol.

I wish that the trim rudder and trim cyclic functions would be separated, with the rudder trim becoming an option. I don't have any issues with any other of the helicopters, but the Apache seems to have a mind of it's own. I'll have a look at your new method, the one I was using was a nuisance.

That's actually how it is already... Set "No spring, No FFB mode" for the rudder and you are good.

I find that INSTANT TRIM needs to be used in small deviations from current controls center otherwise the further you have moved your controls from current center the more pronounced the momentary jolt is going to be after trimming. That said, with CENTERED TRIM you don't get that jolt at all, granted you'll have to remember to re-center your control devices but you might have to do this with INSTANT TRIM also.

Great video. I might have to go try using dcs default instant FF friendly position for my warthog flight stick and use centre position for the rudder which is on a T. 16000M throttle where rudder is hand in controled with those axis flaps in front. The Ah-64 is always prone to spinning around and I would need an assisted center control for that. I always go centered each time I trim the rudder so not envisaging much issues with remembering to centre each time I trim that torque axis. It has really be a fight with Ah-64 but your videos certainly help tremendously. Thank you.

During the landing seem like trim button was unintentionally let go and both cyclic and rudder's input was 'added' on top of the input in 17:46. Have a look at 8:26 . Something maybe up with the physical trim button.

How do you resolve the Bal limit display on the TADs for thw helfire. I can't find literature on what it means and how to get it to turn off.

BAL Limit is maximum ballistic compensation I believe. For us simple people = out of range or the desired shot is not possible If my understanding is complete

Nice video. Lots of things I've learned. The only thing I find strange is when I press the trim button feel the helo very wobbly. I learned not to do that, just fly the helo and trim. But the Apache is a dream to cruise and land, takeoff not so much.

You should never trim for turns...you only trim to maintain flight profile, climb, cruise or descent, use trim sparingly otherwise.

This mode just recenters controls immediately without waiting for you to recenter your physical controls, the old mode works better if you have a bit of null zone around the center of your axis, it waits for both the cyclic and pedals to be recentered though so this other mode might be better for a combat sim.

Instant trim sounds most similar to how the trim works in the real aircraft (thoughts from a former Blackhawk pilot) In the real aircraft, you would ALWAYS want to hold down the trim button before moving the controls with the intent of resetting the trim. Otherwise, you get a massive jolt when you got the trim release button and scare all your passengers.
