In the F10 map if you hold left alt and left click on a desired area on the map you get a popup with the lat / long (in various formats) and MGRS. it stays open even if you switch back to the cockpit view, saves writing stuff down, very helpful if you’re using VR.

I saw that on reddit awhile back, and that's how I got the coordinates. It's such a useful feature.

I use scratch pad for VR, also very handy and saves between flights/servers

A lot of early Nav systems only had two waypoints, in practice they are still really capable, because you can leapfrog waypoints and overwrite the the just overflown wapoint with the next set of coordinates.
@nyandyn4 ай бұрын
Let me check if I understood correctly. For leapfrogging to work, the workflow should go as follows: 1. Set the knob to TGT2 and enter the coordinates to the current waypoint. 2. RESET and return the knob to TGT2. The values are stored into memory and the BDHI navigation pointer shows bearing and distance towards the stored coordinates. 3. Enter coordinates for the next waypoint while staying in TGT2. These won't affect BDHI, as navigation coordinates are read from memory when in TGT2 mode, not the dials. 4. If necessary, the knob can be momentarily moved to TGT1 to check the location of the next waypoint) 5. When the current waypoint is reached, cycle the knob to RESET and TGT2. The next waypoint is stored from the dials to the memory and becomes the current one. 6. Go back to 3 as many times as you need to. So in essence the TGT1, TGT2 and RESET knob positions should be named MAN, PRESET and STORE, respectively.

@@nyandyn did you find out if this was correct?

@@timothymorgan8254 Sorry, didn't have time to get familiarized with the rear cockpit yet! 😁

No problem, keep me updated. I've only learned pilot start up and take off so far. Best DCS session to date.

Very interesting and useful, thank you!😃 Can we hope for a tutorial on air/ground radar? In particular, DT mode is the most used, I think.🙂

Video is quite dark so I have almost no clue what you are doing there. I had to increase brightness of video to see that.
@SniperSal4 ай бұрын
So the top set of coordinates on the navigation computer is for entering INS fixes and the bottom set is for waypoints?
@Checklist_STT4 ай бұрын
The top set of coordinates are where you set the Own Position before starting the alignment during startup, and yes, they are the ones that need the Fix. The bottom ones are for waypoints only.

Will Jester do this for us if single player?
@Slug244 ай бұрын
They have mentioned in videos that you can have flightplans and points Jester will be able to input.
@mikequigleyorruneoform70964 ай бұрын
Jester 1.0 can put in waypoints from your F10 map markers so expect 2.0 can do the same. Let him do all the work. But it’s not as hard once you get used to it. The A-4 has the same setup and as a lone pilot you have to do all of it yourself in flight.

That's the only way I teach. My F-14 RIO Guides are the same way. When the F-4 drops, WSOs need clear and concise information on how to do the essentials; they don't need to wade through a half hour of filler studded with info they don't need. Glad you're here!
