Because I'm old and can't remember, as I have several planes, I create a Google spreadsheet for each plane for the controls and notes for individual aircraft that might have different systems so I can remember. I have dual monitors so I have the spreadsheet up in one monitor so I can quickly glance over for reference.

Ok..You convinced me! I will bind a key on my HOTAS for the very useful ACTIVE PAUSE. I may experiment setting it using with a modifier like I do with my drag chute, so I don't end up hitting it by accident and wonder why I am hovering. Lol. Keep the TIPs coming. Cheers.

Heads up on the control options, check out checking the foldable view on the top row and you do not have to go to the bottom to clear individual cells, right click in each cell and see the new options! Nice work and looking for any additional suggestions on fine tuning controls in DCS!

Nice vid! When I first started I did ask for a profile for the A-10 because it was just overwhelming at first. But as you said, it is their profile and I still had no idea what was programmed. I ended up going thru options menu in-flight and adjusting what I wanted. Didn't ever see anything in the special section but I need to look again as I add a couple more planes. Thanks for the vid and I like the way you take your time to explain the "why" behind doing it. I wish the Create Fast Mission was as easy as the programming menu. I couldn't get the WWII to work with the FW 109-A8. Found out it is bugged and crashes out to desktop. Maybe one day it will work as easy as everything else they make.

I agree what you said about getting profiles from someone else, what you really want to know is how do you set up the controls, and then when you set them up you have a better understanding of the buttons and switches do. One thing I do want to say, or ask, since you didn't mention it, was how to get certain controls to show up for you to use. Those mode switches and dials that might not even show up and end up not used. Most of them might be axis (analog) controls. I see Willie V. has given you a heads up on clearing the entire column, saves you from going through individually.

There is a clear category button at the top to clear the entire input source (i.e. X-BOX controller, throttle, etc...)

Rod, I have a silly question perhaps. I just got Flaming Cliffs 3 yesterday after wrestling with Warbirds for a few week. I searched the Internet and cannot find what keys to map on my WinWing Orion HOTAS, it is very similar to the Warthog HOTAS. I am looking for weapons selection in particular. For the other jets I have a have a hat switch setup to select Sidewinder, select Sparrow, select Gun, and select AMMRAM. Perhaps my eyes are deceiving me in the setup for the F-15C and the other planes but I am not finding those options. Yes I am a newb, but I did try to find these in the manuals and not having any luck. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

This is done within DCS. Find the page for the F-15C and scroll around, it has to be in there. It's a little overwhelming at first. There are multiple pages to keybind from. Check and see which one you're on?

I'd like to know how you like the TWCS throttle? I had never considered just buying the Warthog joystick and pairing it with that throttle (and saving myself over $230 CDN in the process). Some reviews say it's got loose buttons and the throttle doesn't slide properly, others say it's awesome. Would you say it's worth giving up the metal base and extra switches of the Warthog throttle? I'd mainly use it for the F18, Harrier, and A10C, but I also have all of the helicopters and Sabre. I have my trusty Saitek X45 HOTAS, but it would be nice to have the custom designed stick and a few more hats on the throttle. Please, convince me to save $230!

I love my TWCS. It can be "sticky" after a while, but I used some silicone grease on mine once it got too "sticky" and honestly, since I mounted mine to my desk with MonsterTech mounts...I've never had an issue of it being sticky ever again. I think if you leave it sit on a desk, using just the rubber feet, it ends up getting dry, so it tends to "stick" a little. If you set it up, and mount it in such a way that the unit itself is firmly held in place... it never ends up being an issue again. I love the TWCS it does everything I need it too. It also pairs nicely with my Warthog stick.

@@rodwhite5274 I assume you mean grease the metal slides? By 'sticky' you mean the feet stick to the table? I built my own little rolling sim pit with a honda civic chair from a wrecker and keep the stick and throttle on the 'tables' beside me. I don't have them fastened down, although I could easily drill some holes and do it. Sounds good, I'll have to get a TWCS once I pull the trigger and get a Warthog. I can literally get 3 of them for the price of the Warthog throttle alone. Thanks!

Mate ,too complicated. Hardly played fc3,way too hard to setup controls. Uninstalled it after frustration with my CH hotas. I remember some buttons needed a complicated script to work with DCS World. Worst sim to set a controller up in.
