Have you tried Manacles, Everyman and Clarion? The other day I ran an instance with and earth tank using Clarion and it was pretty smooth. A league mate which is earth is also using Clarion. I think it s a good option and you can swap it for Laz anytime needed, or run Manacles, Clarion and Lazarus…

The reason you get hit extremely hard at times is because you’re blocking. It sucks but unlike the rest of the tank powers, if you block, the AF mitigation effect & stone skin goes completely away &, you’ll have to reapply AF effect & the amount of seconds you stacked using JH. It’s one of the many things DC needs to fix with the power earth in general. This is also a reoccurring issue from back in T5 days but now in stats revamp. There was a forum for earth addressing this back during T5 era for earth to get a rework & sadly they don’t fix up the tanking side of earth as they did the Dps side. It’s a shame. Anywho, The only time I block is if the mechanic in the raid requires you to do so and/or to catch a blue immunity via boss weapon PvP mechanic combos but even then sometimes it’s not worth it at all cause you’ll end up taking a ton of damage before the blue immunity protects you from the rest.

the best way and the easiest way to cc with earth is to equipped accelerated jackhammer and us jackhammer on cool down. don't spam it. its hella easy and effective. as soon as jackhammer is off of cool down use it right away. it knocks the adds down, once they get back up, jackhammer will knock them down again. also don't use the earth n grip more than once because it will make them immune to cc - which sucks :( also don't use epicenter, it sucks, cause after you use it, the adds can hit you and f you up lol. just use earth n grip and jack. if the adds are far apart, just pop a shield, all the ads will come to you (because you should have agro) and then you can use jackhammer. : again don't spam jackhammer :) -hopefully this helps
