I had one exactly like that one. I bought it in Hong kong in 1979 for 195 u.s. dollars. I traded it off for a 1968 4x10 fender super reverb deluxe. It qas a great guitar, but the amp was incredible. I loved that guitar however.

I have the same guitar except mine has the Antoria brand name on the headstock but with the same Ibanez motif inlay. Bought mine in 1980 second hand from Rock City in the Big Market Newcastle. It was built in September 1977.

It has a mahogany body with a birch...yes...birch top. The neck is some kind of composite. If I remember correctly the fingerboard is "ebonized" rosewood. I have one, also a '77 custom, cream colored. Unfortunately I swapped out the pick ups before I knew what I was doing. The ones I have are good though. A Seymour Duncan '59...or something like that at the neck and a Bartolini with a coil tap switch at the bridge. I've abused mine incredibly and it has cracks in the finish, dings and burns, some I've covered up with stickers and decals. However the intonation on the thing is still good after all these years. It's just a great guitar.
@snuzebuster4 жыл бұрын
@Fangalatic Not necessarily bad, but kind of unusual. Didn't I say I love the guitar? I guess I don't find it too bad that it has a birch top.

I’ve got the same guitar it’s same brand but it’s a bit different it’s got 3 humbucker pickups uncovered and it doesn’t have that wee pattern on your head
@Liquidmetal66617 жыл бұрын
I see the strings are wound over the bridge! I know Joe Bonamassa does that for his Les Paul. Do you find that when you tune the guitar it tends to ping slightly? I've got a Jim Deacon Les paul copy which tends to ping up in pitch when i tune it.
@DaganWilkin7 жыл бұрын
LIQUIDMETAL Hey man! I do it because it makes the strings a little more slinky, and apparent reduces breakage .. but I don't know about that! Try getting a new bridge mate, sounds like it's a little sharp.
@Liquidmetal66617 жыл бұрын
Ahh that might be it! The bindings on my strings seem to stretched over the bridge, that might be why
@scottcarfrae83426 жыл бұрын
Joe takes the ball ends off his old strings and puts them on the new strings, they become a spacer so the string winding's don't go over the stop tail and scratch the hell out of your hands check it out, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJKxe2CNaZyanrs

It is binding in the nut! Nutsauce will fix it or graphite scrapings from a lead pencil!

Did you ever find out what it's made of? I just picked one up today. Has the same hollowish sound to the top... If you look in the control cavity the top is only connected on the body edges... really odd.

Hi dude! Thanx for this video. I have a question: the body of this Ibanez is chambered ?! (In fact I have the same model from 1978 with triple Pickups, and the body seems to be really chambered ) Thanx for your answer ;)

Hey! Yeah the body is chambered, feels almost totally hollow, haha.

Can anyone reading this comment, if familiar with these 75-77 Ibanez LPs, tell me are they findable within 1000usd? When I was 14ish in 1984 my father bought me one which was a bright red with yellow knobs, gold hardware, bolt on neck. Had a raunchy brown case with yellow/gold plush interior. I pawned it in 91 or 92 much to my dismay in my later years. Now really wanting to find one of these for my own nostalgic needs. Would love to find one of same color but would be open to other offerings.

I bought one of those new back then. It was $279.99 + tax USD.

Guitars only have to look good anymore. You can make them sound like anything you want. So why would anything matter except how it feels when you play it. It really is killing like vintage guitar sales and amp sales. Most new cheap guitars are built so good now they rival any vintage guitar that would vary so much that your chances of getting a lemon were huge! Not anymore. Every neck are the same now. So why would you buy a vintage crap shoot guitar? I have 100, 200, 300 hundred dollar guitars that are BETTER than 99% of any vintage old crappy electronics that varied so much you had to swap them out new! And of course the wood means nothing. Old wood means old wood. The only reason for vintage is Head-stock Shame! People are so ego riddled they can't be seen with a new or branded low priced name on the head-stock. I would rock a Harley Benton or Epi or anything anywhere anytime. Take like Gibson, They have been fucking over people for yrs! Why would you be proud of that? It shows how stupid you are to pay that much for a headstock that reflects your ignorance to over pay. No electric guitar on Earth made of wood is worth anymore than 3 to 5 hundred. The only guitar I have seen I would pay stupid amount for are Relish guitars! A piece of art! Like a fine Swiss watch they are. Even them I wouldn't have one anytime soon. lol

Timber ages and as it does it’s sound improves hence older guitars that are not composite will sound better in decades to come
