Giving elderly actors employment, which is exactly what happened in this, historically. *Deadly* lady. Basic Instinct. Excellent, entertaining movie. 4 German survivors of the ships helped out with technical assistance for the film.

They did their best with some geriatric old war heroes. It's hard to compare with the fast paced, karate-spy-bodybuilder movies we have now days. Today the spy has to be a pro-wrestler, have abs, look sweet for the ladies and keep a hidden room full of spy equipment. Satellite connections, silencers, submachine guns, and grenades are all in the modern spy kit and he's got to be a jiu jitsu master. Back then the plot was more important than the kung fu.

All those major stars, talents who had actually fought in WW2, and who'd made some of the finest war films ever, heck some of our finest classics. Trevor Howard, Gregory Peck, and on and on!!
