I was about 14 or 15 when my dad got home from hunting Hoosier valley, he was white as a ghost and eyes were as wide dinner plates he said he just seen the biggest buck is the world (at that time my dad had 4 nice 10 points on the wall a dandy 9 point some beautiful 8s) so seeing him like this I knew this deer was a monster! I asked did you get a shot off? He said “no it was dead in the back of a guys truck at the store, I’m so mad I didn’t have a camera this thing Is bigger then any deer I’ve ever seen on any show or in a magazine even high fence I wish you seen it son” I believe it was at the corner of cass rd. And south airport rd. At the holiday gas station, it was the Rompola buck. When the story broke my dad freaked out that’s the Fu***ng DEER I TOLD YOU ABOUT!!!!!! He shouts at me one of the greatest taxidermists in Michigan who would never say anything because of the haters and skeptics and he’d look like a liar but he seen that deer alive and made a trip to traverse for every chance after that trying to get a shot at it or another glimpse even, he swears that’s the buck he seen and talked about!

Sad world we live in now that some people are so jealous of the accomplishments of hunters because they killed a big deer. I know one thing about deer and I’ve hunted the same farm for over 50 years is a big buck can appear anywhere. I’ve seen some huge racks killed by some old hunters My dad was one of 3 hunters that killed deer in the first modern season that opened for 3 days in 1960 or 61 that was a huge 10 point it was weighed at a slaughter house and weighed 302 lbs it was the smallest of the 3. I also seen several racks an old hunter killed one was killed in 1936 10 point and it was bigger than my dads his whole garage ceiling joist were nothing but racks then reached up and got one on a piece of plywood that was amazing it was a main frame 14 point with stuff everywhere drop tines I’m a big man and rack would go around me he was 85 years old when he killed that deer every deer he killed was shot with a savage 99 that was in 1990 killed it on 1988 all I could say he should have a bunch of those deers scored and he said that I was the only person ever seen them other than a nephew he past away 3 years after that we were fixing a water leak rt in front of his house he came out and said how come you’ll not deer hunting and I said couldn’t get off work. The reason I’m making a point of this is you think of all the deer that are just laying somewhere some hunters hunt for more than recognition I believe that The Rompolla buck is the true world record but the one the Alexander man killed in Ohio might be bigger

Any opinion from John eberhart I take with a grain of salt. He has no credibility he is just held up on a pedestal by the hunting community as a "good" hunter. This video is just hearsay just like everyone one before it. No new news just someone wanting to put in their two cents. I don't know it's real, it would be nice if someone would actually have some evidence one way or the other. Grand traverse county has had antler point restrictions longer than the N.w. 12. I've lived there and I still bow hunt yearly,. That peninsula stays green a month longer than mainland. That's a lot of extra growing time. One thanksgiving we had a 180 ' easy run through our backyard on river road. Still one of the biggest bucks I've ever seen. The entire family witnessed it. I think that shed was to see if Mitch could fabricate something and have it come across real so when an expert like John didn’t say anything after seeing it but knew it was not what Mitch portrayed it to be he ended up getting obsessed with a number and caught up in the record part of bucks and made the rack on the 98 buck thinking no one would be able to notice but the scoring process was much more than he expected

I have a question, if the shed that John was shown was a weather checked shed, that would make it real. So he did have a real world record shed, he just colored it? That’s a real shed. I have a buck my dad shot 2003 in mid Missouri dried its 23 inch spread. So 30 isn't unrealistic... I post a video of my dad's buck for verification on my youtube DHD TV

23 inches is super wide but certainly not unheard of... 30+ inches? 7" in spread difference is huge especially when you are talking 20" plus spreads.

I was more striking the convo, what if Rampola buck is 30 inches, the man in the video just discredits him in so many ways, but what if that wasn't the case and his buck was real... do I believe bucks can have 30" hell yes, look at Texas deer...so to think something like that roamed up north, possibly. I was throwing credit towards a discredited story.

Lots of People seen that buck the day it was shot including Michigan DNR they said it is real Mitch is the fred bear of bow hunting and he got to hunt some private property around huge swamp he went the extra mile but the Jealousy was so great everybody and their brother start making bs stories pissed mitch off and said F U people I don't blame him I would to if I shot one like that Proble would tell anyone but close friend because your just going to be called a liar an a poacher even more now with this woke ass lame shit

John , We go way back in CBM back to the early days : I have been a measurer ; Regional Director : on the board of CBM thru the years. No one has the right story yet. No one ever asked CBM s board of directors what was set up if Mitch ever wanted this measured , CBM HAD A SPECIAL BOARD MEETING TO ADDRESS THIS, I was on the board , regional director of region 6 when this took place. We as a board decided at the meeting that when mitch would ever want this measured that there would be a P&Y measurer / B&C measurer / a member of the board an myself being the Regional Director where this deer came from . Well that never happened ! Mitch took it onto himself to call around for measurers ! I received calls that night from other measurers that mitch was calling around that night , an the buck was scored without any one knowing about it in secret ! However 2 of the Measurers that did show up Knew that CBM had setup who would be on hand an did nothing . i never received a call from Mitch or any of the other measurers but i knew what he was doing that night. Did not set good with me
