In this episode I do a deep dive of the C.J. Alexander Ohio Trophy Buck Poaching case, reviewing the indictment charge by charge and speculating on the evidence the State of Ohio is likely to present to secure convictions for each charge, while re-creating the scene of the crimes using OnX maps.

His sisters property actually looks like a prime spot. One of the best spots i got is 10 acres and borders some railroad tracks. It looks just like that. Also its not uncommon like people think for a deer to cover 10 miles and in a short period of time. Idk whether the guy is guilty or not and haven't really looked into this case so dont flip out on me. Im just saying that property actually looks good and ive seen the same bucks on trail cams that are miles apart in the same day or night. Circumstantial evidence shouldn't be enough to convict a person of any crime. And i also question the political sway the people accusing a person might have.

CJ & his entire circle he runs with have an established reputation of trespassing, spot lighting, stealing stands & cameras. They’re main claim to fame around there is they trespass onto County owned & Municipal owned properties that do not allow hunting. Its not a surprise at all he was charged with these crimes, plus he was obsessed with becoming famous in the hunting community & making a name for himself.

With all the laws CJ has broken it's highly unlikely he killed that buck legally. This happens all the time but a really big deer like this brings a lot more attention. A big buck was killed in my state many years ago and was on the cover of North American whitetail magazine and was killed in bow season. A friend of mine knows the guy and said he actually killed it with a shotgun. It's disgusting. It happens so often that when someone does it the right legal way there is still suspicion.

Very good job with breaking this down, I have also been following this since I first heard of this poaching incident. We all have these types of outlaws in our area and seen how they operate, I knew CJ was one of them since I listened to his very first story of the hunt, we all know what it takes to get a decent Buck legally and from the moment CJ opened his mouth red flags were going up everywhere. I strongly believe he took that record buck at night time like he did the buck at the church and probably many more illegal bucks that have gone under the radar.

One thing i dont think people realize is, All 4 people being charged will be splitting the trophy fee on this buck.CJ wont pay this full fine himself unless he is man enough to do so for his sister and friends. The "Spread" will not be included due to the trophy fine being for "Inches" of antler not the score of the rack. Atleast thats how previous cases im familiar with, with multiple people and trophy bucks were handled.

@@warrengreen3217every bow hunter in the country will be after those genetics if they thought bucks like that were hangin in landfills. I think some hunters would follow a buck off a cliff.

@@americanagothic7851 genetics dont work like that if that buck knocked up a doe and she dont got the genetics then it might be only a 120 inch in his prime but his dad was 240 inches a deer gets hafe of its genetics from each parent and study show the females has more to do with big racks genetics than the males

If 23 charges made it through a grand jury, whose job is to look at the evidence and decide if there is enough evidence to convict in a trial, then the state must have solid evidence. If they don't have GPS data from cell phones, or trail cam pictures from the area that prove CJ and/or the buck were in the Landrum Oil area on November 9th and 10th, or pictures recovered from his or Cory's phone that prove they were in that area, then he could prove his innocence. But the grand jury bringing the charges means they have to have that evidence, in which case he is going to be dead to rights. I imagine he is going to take a plea deal and plead guilty and this wont even make it to trial, when he sees the evidence they have.
