If you've stashed away a Mirage Mirror in your graveyard, you could potentially stack the abilities such that you could equip or crew him if the proper thing to copy exists on the battlefield.

So my favorite card to use with Trazen is Honor-worn shaku. In the yard you can infinitely tap/untap Trazen, provided he himself is untapped or you have another legendary card to tap, because the shaku is now legendary. From there you can capitalize on any card that cares about tapping or untapping like Mesmeric Orb or Haunted One.

Is there a way to grant the "equipment" subtype to Trazyn? Then we could reconfigure/equip him successfully! He wouldn't do much, but maybe you're trying to avoid a potential boardwipe or something. Or use a tap ability without waiting for summoning sickness?

I was just thinking about this sort of interaction with Mairsil, the Pretender. I'm thinking this would go over a bit better, even if only for bragging rights, through enchanting either with One with the Stars, then applying an effect like that of Memnarch's first activated ability and, finally, having a Bludgeon Brawl in the mix. While I'm here, I might as well propose the following situation, with the caveat that more it's to show the game going through its paces: I have an Ajani Goldmane with an Enchanted Evening and an Opalescence out. My opponent attacks the Ajani Goldmane with a Rumbling Baloth. Since the planeswalker is also a creature (and an enchantment) I can block the Baloth with Ajani itself. I feel it would be worthwhile to explain how the damage would be assigned and dealt by the Baloth to Ajani in that situation. It should be noted that such a situation where a planeswalker that is also a creature is attacked is discussed in the rulings for Gideon Jura but I'm not sure how up to date those are. That and Gideon's damage prevention ability complicates things in another direction. In any case, do keep up the great work :-)

Ajani will still be a planeswalker as well as a creature (and enchantment) so he will take damage as both a creature and a planeswalker. As in, he'll have the Baloth's damage marked on him and he will have loyalty counters removed equal to the damage the Baloth did. Next time SBAs are checked, if he has lethal damage or zero loyalty counters, he's off to the yard. PS - if you're looking at Gathering rulings, those will be accurate with the possible exception of right after a new set comes out before they can update. So if you see a Gatherer ruling, you can be about 95% sure it's current.

The creatures that have Reconfigure are also equipment cards. Trazyn isn't an equipment. You could activate it, but if you do, it'll do nothing on resolving as stated in the video

What about artifact's activated abilities in the graveyard that require you to sacrifice itself and pay mana? Obviously, you cant sacrifice it because its already in the graveyard, but can I just spend the mana to still use the ability?

If a card uses its own name in an ability, it means "this specific object" [CR 201.5b]. So for example, a cost of "sacrifice Lotus Petal" would be paid by sacrificing Trazyn.

Hey Dave! I can't find a clarification online so thought I'd comment and ask: Why does Leyline of Abundance not work with mana abilities that say "Tap an untapped..." for example on Meria, Scholar of Antiquity, but it does work with the tap symbol? The gatherer page for leyline says this is the case but from a rules perspective why is that the case?

In order for a permanent to be "tapped for mana" it must have an activated mana ability with {T} in the cost

This works, the ability does nothing but the creature would become the target of an ability each time. This also works even if you have Shuko on the battlefield, since you can equip something to the thing it's already attached to if you want.

Note that bludgeon brawl specifies "non-creature", so you'd first have to remove the Creature card type for bludgeon brawl to have any effect. There's also another comprehensive rule entry that says Creatures can't be attached to things (note how Reconfigure and Bestow both remove the Creature card type while the permanent remains attached) so if Trayzn ever started being a creature again, not only would it lose the equipment subtype, it would also fall off just by being a creature.

Most likely. Crewed Vehicles' power and toughness are their printed P/T (usually), so it should indeed become a 4/6, since that's what's printed on it.

I'm already expecting dissapointment, but could funky stuff happen with trazyn and the licid cards (e.g. I attempt to use dominating licid's activated ability with trazyn)? Edit: upon actually reading Trazyn's abilities, the only way my Idea would work is If I could turn all cards in the graveyard into artifacts.

You're thinking the same thing I was, but alas Trazyn only works with artifacts. The only licid you could use is Transmogrifying Licid. And no, Mycosynth Lattice does not turn the permanents in your yard into artifacts.

Also even if you found some way to get Trazyn the Dominating Licid ability, it still wouldn't work the way we want it to because Trazyn gains the ability AFTER the control layer has already applied, so it would attach to another creature and then not actually do anything.

I bet you could get more wierd questions if you put Mycosynth Lattice into the pool... I believe he would function normal like a Plancewalker if one would go in the graveyard (With Mycosynth Lattice on the Battlefield)

Unfortunately, no. While Mycosynth Lattice turns all permanents into artifacts, any cards in any zones other than the battlefield become colorless but not artifacts.

I dont know how trazyn works with acitvated abilities that targets by naming the card. For example grim monolith says : "4 untap grim monolith. Does trazyn have "4 untap grim monolith" or "4 untap trazyn" ? I guess it works for the infinite combo but wich rule says that

Cards that say it’s own name in its effects, like staff on domination or grim monolith, are basically saying “this card”. So grim monolith basically says “4: untap this card.” In short, those cards work with Trazyn.

201.5b If an ability of an object refers to that object by name, and an object with a different name gains that ability, each instance of the first name in the gained ability that refers to the first object by name should be treated as the second name.
