Comments make light of the worst chapter in British history. To place this war in context: Two tiny independent republics inhabited with mainly farmers, were annexed (stolen) by Britain because gold and diamonds had been discovered. War ensued and this handful of farmers faced the British Empire: England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and India. To date it was the most expensive war Britain ever experienced, and was beaten militarily so they resorted to Kitchener's "Scorched Earth Policy", where Britain destroyed farms and livestock, and murdered tens of thousands of Boer women and children in concentration camps. Think what you will; history needs to be told truthfully.

Nah The 9 year war in Ireland 1593 to 1602 brought the English Crown to bankruptcy .. in the end the English reinstated the Irish rebels with their full lands and titles simply because they had run out of money .. It's when "we" (and I say that as someone born in 1987 and who also does not believe in "sins of the father") went to war against our European cousins for more gold and diamonds and let imperial greed control our decisions and empire. In other words, an example of the disgraceful way our politicians used to see things. Look up Emily Hobhouse. An English lady, who visited the camps, came home and told Brits what was being done in their names. Which led to changes. She's buried in S.A.
