And from the looks of the title, the estate of Otis Redding must have cleared it with the condition that Otis Redding be listed as the featured artist on the song. I heard this growing up all through the 90s… my dad was a hip hop head and used to play this when I used to visit him on the weekends. We would do silly dances around the living room of his one room bedsit / flat with vinyl stacked all around…Hearing this song as a child really helps me to tap back into that mind-state and remember the good times. My father had a complicated life and therefore our relationship was always complex, but one thing I will be eternally grateful for is the wonderful music I would hear and was exposed to back then. I don’t know. When I hear this song it’s like he’s telling me… ‘eye know I love you better…’

While there was a learning curve given some of the remixed plot elements, I really felt like using this song in Mutant Mayhem was such a beautiful nod to the time where Turtles truly ruled the world. The late 80/early 90s hip hop boom was intergral to the vibe of the 1990 film, so this felt perfect.
