De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies - Trenton Makes The World Takes

Well today Johnny C made it to a very deeply rooted special Pizzeria in Central Jersey, Robbinsville, that many have strongly recommended I go. I don't know why I waited so long! Folks this is Tomato Pie Country and they really don't got more special than this. I cannot express enough how great this pizza is. From their hand crushed California Whole Tomatoes to their crispy and so tasty crust with very nice char. This is a 3rd Generation recipe handed down from 1947 and hails from the Chambersburg section of Trenton. Make the trip you won't be disappointing! Strongly recommend a plain tomato pie and Sausage (homemade sausage is a treat), Sweet Peppers too, oh my how sweet they were when on that Tomato Pie!

Trenton is kind of an underrated place in Jersey for tourists. I always found the area interesting

By far, my favorite tomato pie in New Jersey. Papa's tomato pies are good, but De Lorenzo's is best.

I lived on Elmer St in Chambersburg NJ, when I was a kid. I remember De Lorenzo's very well. Good to see they're still around making pizza. 🍕

been to new haven in october just for the pie went to 3 joints and none equal the trenton pie IMO very disappointed in new haven all that yap about them and they had nothing peace

@@markstaravoj1845 I agree Trento pies are the best but we grew up with them and we know where the best pies are? In New Haven you just went where people told you to go? But burg pies are off the charts! Bread and bagels were the best too!!!

Low hydration. Just bang it out and stretch it thin. Probably 350-385 grams for a 14” pie. Flour is probably all purpose. Many of the old schoool places used pillsbhry AP and I doubt Delorenzos would ever deviate from whatt they started with

Great pie as was Hudson St.,Chick and Gary made the best pies. My girls cut their teeth on their crust. Now DeLorenzo's has a place in Yardley Pa. just down the street.Lucky me. Humm half garlic half sausage sounds good for tonight,😋
