Jack's dialogue delivery is so emaculate that one feels the power of every word he utters without being theatrical. He's blessed with the timing and modulation. Very few, if any, in the league.

This was so good. Nicholson probably just wanted to do this bit part to work with Kazan and DeNiro. Its really a master class in method acting. Kazan was so subtle with them. I really think this is one of DeNIro's best performances.

He looks like the kind of guy who would not only punch your lights out, but once your in the floor he would go nuts kicking your head. Nah, both of them were perfectly cast in those particular movies. I think that DeNiro would've been good in Cuckoos Nest and Jack in TD, but probably not to the level of the way it turned out. Just like DeNiro might've made a good Michael Corleone but not as good as Al Pacino was just like Al Pacino wouldn't be quite right for Raging Bull.
