24 mins of me saying and doing completely preposterous things. In this video I behave exactly the way you've come to expect me to behave, holding the same beliefs I've long held. I decorate this cake.

Great to see a new upload, and to see you doing well. Have you seen those new Squier Jazzmasters/Jags with the working bridges? I got a VM right before they got discontinued. If only I waited 2 more months.

Hi Nelson, great job. I must say though that I think that the tarnishing is natural as I have the left-handed version of the same guitar which is also in absolutely mint condition except for the fact that all of the hardware has tarnished in exactly the same way (although the pickup covers do look as though they are worse than mine). I have to use polish on all of the metal parts every few months to keep them looking pristine. I must add that I have had my guitar from new, so I know that no-one has messed with it. Keep the vids coming

The original 58's did have nickel plating the replacement part you bought was chrome plating. Nickel does tarnish as appose to chrome which is a harder metal to nickel. I like nickel better because of its yellowish hue to it.

hey I been watching matt scott and nik and other vintage strat videos, like the overspraying of the older strats seems pretty common, then 20 years later looks pretty bad, my question is how do you feel about overspray, even as touch up or on a lp faded, I know your probably rolling your eyes and you take such care on your finishes, I just wonder have you seen any over sprayed guitars and what do you think, last or can you sand primer then overcoat, pce,

Just out of curiosity, what was the reason for buying new pickup covers instead of polishing them like you did to the tailpiece?

This video, in my opinion, is an exercise in futility. Spending good money on brand new parts, that do not need replacing. The pickup covers and the tuners, could have easily been polished up, to look as good as new. That would've been a good video, removing the pickups and the tuners and cleaning, reconditioning and polishing them up. The brand new, shiny parts, on a nice used guitar? They smack you in the face, and aren't a subtle addition. Just my opinion, and I hope you take this criticism, constructively, as I intended it. I do enjoy your videos.

I have a lefty ES335 exactly like that and mine has exactly the same “patina” on it. I have owned it since it was new and the patina started when it was about 3 or 4 years old. A-patently the main reason is that the parts that are affected are nickel plated rather than chrome. I look after my guitars and wipe them down as soon as I have played them but nothing seems to stop this from happening. I love my ES 335 too and would never get rid of it.
@robinosborne2663 жыл бұрын

Hey does anybody here know what the sitch is with Grover moving their mfg to chino? I bought a set 2 mos ago and the only location listed on my pkging was Cleveland & last i checked that's in Ohio, unless China bought the place but they're better stewards of the state's money than to do that. So anybody know? I do know there are now bootleg chino Grovers available from the usual offenders and they are identical; down to the plastic washers used on the keys!!! Come with hang tags but diff pkging; these are in a rectangular box that says Machine Heads with a small "Grover" printed on the front. Any one...?

the plating is nickle . it naturally ages that way. looks like the serial number reads 1997 so i doubt anyone reliced the guitar. if you bought chrome covers they should stay shiny
@alext90675 жыл бұрын
I hear you about the patina. Google Copy Chrome and all the competitors. They're an electrolytic application that uses an applicator instead of a tank and it's insanely amazing. It's actually a layer of (now I forgot what it is) not chrome. But it's chromier than chrome. It's rather inexpensive and it's something to try out. Been out for decades and seems like nobody really knows about it. I've seen it on videos (not commercials) and it's insane. BTW,,, who is Richard? Maybe, put it in the description.
