I like how the NSW government set the limit at 660 cc so that the Triumph 660 power unit is OK. These people are as corrupt as they come.

It's not only based on the cc it's power to weight that's why you can't ride a R6 but you can ride the r7 for example

The CBR will have more power than the R7, but the R7 is a lighter, more nimble bike. Personally I love the twins, so I'm really keen on finding out how this bike will turn out when we're done with it.

Good vid. The hordpower intake makes a significant difference to top end power, really needed for the track. My HO makes 80 hp at the wheel (hord intake, full exhaust, PCV).
@BB22Racing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I'm looking forward to getting the bike back on the dyno after the exhaust and the hord intake go on it. I'll be very interested to see what sort of power gains we get, there's also the Carbon Smith pod style that I'm looking at as a test as well, but that'll be further down the line.

@@BB22Racing Will you use the Akropovic titanium exhaust? And does the silencer do anything to power, in or out?
@BB22Racing2 жыл бұрын
@@Happy_Adam Yep, there's one on the way to us now. It's a long wait for parts sometimes though. I'll test with the baffle in and out on the dyno when I get it installed. I've seen on smaller bikes like the R3 that they make more power with the baffle in, so it'll be interesting to see the difference.

13% gain in hp is really good. With a pipe and a tune should be very nice

Some of the Twins Cup teams have developed a ram air system for their R7s, however with the engine/tank/intake set-up on the R7, it's a difficult (but not impossible) feat.

Aren't there diameter restrictors in the airbox to throttle body rubbers, I'm sure std uk bikes are making much more power than in your dyno test? than in
@BB22RacingАй бұрын
Yessir! In the Aussie Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS) model, there are a number of restrictions in place to keep it under around the 42-45hp mark, namely reduced bore to make it under the 660cc of the LAMS rules. Yes, it would be waaay better if Australia took up a system similar to the UK A2 system where it's all in the ECU, rather than loads of different mechanical changes.

Very good instructions. If the plate is changes does that void insurance? Please add a note, if they cut the plate they will have to buy a new throttle assembly which will be $500+ so better buy a new plate and you can put it back if you need to.
@burdazza27112 жыл бұрын
depends on insurance cause half of them dont care as long as its legal mods tho most ppl wouldnt pick up on the small changes anyway
@BB22Racing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! I suppose it would depend on who your insurance company is and the cover you have. If you were a learner riding a modified bike then it would be illegal, so you could get yourself into some strife with the constabulary and your insurance if you were in an accident.

Where exactly do you mark is it the black Philips screws on the plate with blue paint or the ones on the throttle cable?

It was the threaded section of the throttle cables so that you have a general idea where they were set before you changed the throttle plate.

@BB22Racing2 ай бұрын
If you are only removing the snorkel and changing the filter, it will be pretty fine. If you change the lid out as well, with an exhaust, then you will start needing to map it.

The throttle plates can be found on ebay, or from a Yamaha dealer, where you can also get the 'HO' intake runners. The aftermarket parts are fairly easily available, so best to google and see if your local stores may stock them 😊

So is this the same power output as a stock fullpower R7? 52hp seems so little?
@BB22Racing Жыл бұрын
It's a lot less than the full power R7. The 689 engine makes around 65rwhp stock as well as a lot more throughout the mid range.
@silent_fluo6917 Жыл бұрын
@@BB22Racing Can a tune fix that? Or is a lamb version basically 'fucked' from the get go?
@BB22Racing Жыл бұрын
@@silent_fluo6917 by changing the throttle plate and intake runners you get to about 2-3hp less than the 689cc. Add an exhaust and a tune and you can get pretty close to 70hp. You'll always be down on power from the 689cc with the same mods, but it's still a good bike.

the hord power air intake, does the mt07 also work with the r7? Im assuming so since you used it, and is it a similar install?
@BB22Racing Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. It will fit onto the TBs without any problem, but the mount isn't designed for the R7 so you need to do a little bit of bending and stretching to get it to work correctly.

@BB22Racing3 ай бұрын
The LAMS model stock throttle is short because it is restricted. Putting the standard 'HO' (689cc) model throttle plate can open up a bunch more performance over the LAMS. That said, if you want a quicker action throttle, the R6 tube mod is a small improvement, but best improvements will come from a proper quick action throttle, like the Rev3 we run on the SVs.

If you're just swapping to the different throttle plate, it won't damage your engine. However, the 'gain' made by this won't be all that much without remapping the ecu to fuel at those throttle percentages
