The “kink “ on the stock R7 exhaust is the catalytic converter, Yamaha moved it closer to the engine so the catalytic converter can heat up faster and start working sooner.

I have a 2017 fz-07, ecu flashed, 1 tooth down in the front, 3 teeth up in the rear, and a baffle-out full Akropovic carbon exhaust installed... super fun, weaving wheelie machine... it can be ridden with moderate sound , if kept under 6000ish rpms. 1st gear is useless and my fz-07 still doesn't compare to the 2021 mt-09 I picked up in October.

Nice mods done, I really like it. I would definitely need to put a baffel in it. Even with earplugs it would eventually get to me on long runs. A tail tidy would make it look a lot better.

The MT07/R7 is a parallel twin with a 270 degree crankshaft so it sounds just like a V-Twin in real life.

I would not be able to do that. I haven’t owned a straight piped exhaust in 5 years. Last time I rode one was my boy’s gixxer 600 a month ago and I couldn’t get over how obnoxious it was and I was at low rpm the whole time. I was grinding my teeth with every rpm the needle passed till I short shifted for my own mental health. I want to do a Yoshi on my MT-09 but I’m hoping it doesn’t get much louder than stock. I actually love the stock sound of the 21’s. If I heard it without seeing I’d think it has a slip on.

It's not that bad once you get a tune, the quarter throttle on decel without a tune does like 1000 pops and it's obnoxious but if tune it and shift early it doesn't get that loud, the idle is loud but once you start moving at like 5mph or when the bike is heated up properly it's not really loud

Balance point my dude, ya ride a motorcycle with a CP2 balance point is a MUST at least for a couple seconds. Also I have an SC on my mt07 and can confirm. SO LOUD, especially on wheelies and coming out of corners with your knee on the ground

The first rocket I rode was the R1 and I didn't find that bike very comfortable. I ended up pulling the trigger on a 93 CBR 600 F2 and I love it. I am super interested in the R7 though! Seems like a good middle ground between a 600 and 1000. I appreciate your super informative reviews!

FWIW: I put a full Akra from a 2015 FZ 07 and it bolted right on with no mods to the mounting. >>>>Just got my ECU back from V Cycle Nut . Feels like it has more low end punch and will try this weekend. No backfire with flash that i got, since it disabled the PAIR Valve function. >>>Also have a full system on my Aprilia RS 660 with Up Map flash. would be s good side by side comparison.

my MT09 has a Termi with a Tune + Baffel and its still way to loud for me. I Enjoy going full throttle a lot more with earplugs. I dont wanna know what the R7 is like with a SC and no Baffel. Really great mods though, Gb Racing Covers are just the best.

Same man. I got back into riding thIs year and wanted something smaller so got a Ninja 400. Just a few months after getting it, I found out Yamaha was making this bike and instantly regretted not knowing about it. Luckily I was able to work with my dealer and make a deposit on an R7 before they got it. Should have the 400 traded in within the week for it. Will be interesting to see how it compares to the 400 but I can tell it's going to be a fun bike.

Im not sure if theyre using a cardo or a sena, but they use a device that attaches to your helmet and puts speakers and a mic in it, thats why you hear the go pro audio too
