I can't figure out why people think Jamie's not a good drummer. Mamie had some nice licks but she had zero power. If you're going to present your music thru a power trio, you damn well better have a power drummer. This band came together when Mamie quit and Jamie came in. Nothing bad on Mamie; I'm happy for her wanting to take the education road. If you people took the time to read the interviews explaining her stint in the band and her desire to not play music, all this drummer crap would disappear.

I was sceptical at first but Ive come to the same conclusion as you now. Saw the band in London and it rocked hard. (There's a couple of killer drum fills here btw, Check out 5.20 and the end at 6.58!)

Mamie was like Meg White not you mainstream drummer and they did by that both add a special feel to their bands. I get why a lot of people really loved the special feel/groove Mamie gave DMs songs, with her more simple playing and limited use of fills. Mamie can maybe be explained as feeling more like a dance groove backing the songs. Mamie even sometimes looking like she was dancing while sitting on her drum throne.
