I was at this gig!!!! I never knew just how important it would become… and this song merging into ‘it’s all in the game’ is just unreal. Ricky Ross is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.. and just look at how he looks at Lorraine during ‘it’s all in the game’ … we all aspire to that sort of love. 🥰

It is one of my favourite albums of all time. I spent the summer of 1987 listening to it and have never stopped. A truly great album followed by the also excellent When the world knows your name in 1989.

If I had to choose between "Raintown" and "When The World Knows Your Name", it would be Raintown. In my opinion, When The World didn't really sound like Deacon Blue. A lot of that was down to the record company and their choice of producers, which I don't think the band were that happy about. Of course the record company were just thinking about maximising album sales. I much prefer listening to When The World... tracks live.

Raintown was THE album when I was going for my running exercises when I played hockey in the national youth team. I lost sense of time and space and it got me in a flow each time I pushed the button of my then cool portable CD player :-). Got me to the idea to use this song as my anchoring song to get in this state whenever I want to. "Born in a storm" pulled me always away from this planet and when "Raintown" kicked in, I took off and increased my pace without noticing it .... To be listened as a full album, should be prohibited to listen to each song individually ;-)
