I just got approval on my Sandman S. I cant wait to get mine outside for once. Ive shot it a lot indoors where I purchased it but finally get to go outside. Thanks for the awesome demo here. Im on a 14.5 and an 11.5 AR but also have a 16'' AR and a Remington 700 .308 that this thing will go on. Cost a small fortune in muzzle devices , lol

I have the S and K. I probably wouldn't go with DA again as my ratchet failed on the S model. I've only used it on one firearm (X95 in 300BO and now SBRed as a 5.56). I buy Surefire RCs now.

Would you recommend it for a home defense 300 blackout gun? My main concern is the sound suppression and the gas blowback.

Great question!, 2 things the sandman-s is a great can for what it is however it's not the quietest can even with 300 blackout especially in a house. If you want better suppression you need more baffles in a suppressor or better designed a baffles. The wolfman suppresses 300 blackout extremely well for being a 9mil PCC can. Number 2 More baffles usually means a quieter suppressor to an extent however it also means more blowback in a semi-auto application so there's a fine line between more baffles equals more quiet less baffles equals less flowback You're never going to get true Hollywood quiet out of a semi-auto platform due to the nature of the action. I would personally recommend going with something like the nomad that has a different design of baffle and three or four more baffles than the sandman s it may be slightly gassier however you can combat that with a heavier buffer and an adjustable gas block keeping your action closed for longer keeps the gases in your barrel and suppress their longer

I've shot many hooks works I think they are fantastic suppressors and for what they do they're really impressive however they're not as quiet as a traditional baffle suppressor if what you're worried about is sound suppression you're better off doing a traditional baffle suppressor and tuning your rifle.

I would get the nomad 30 or the nomad 30 TI and I would swap out your carbine buffer for at minimum an h2 if not an h3 depending on your ejection pattern shooting subsonic ammunition unsuppressed. But as I tell everybody one of the biggest things you can do for any rifle regardless if you're shooting suppressed or unsuppressed is a high quality adjustable gas block like a superlative arms I run them on all of my rifles

If the baffles are welded how do you clean it from all the carbon buildup?

Good question! Typically there is not a need to clean center fire rifle suppressors, however if you are a guy like me that shoots short barrel 556 there is a few options available. 1. Soak the suppressor This is often done with a tennis ball tube using "simple green" the household cleaner or, CLP the rifle cleaner or, Mpro-7. Over night or up to 2 days. 2. You can put your suppressor in an ultra sonic cleaner with a water/ simple green solution. 75% simple green @115f for about 30 min then flip. 3. The best option I think is "Breakthrough" makes a kit and "HuxWrx" also makes a kit that cleans sealed suppressors. With any of these methods that you do, your just going to shake your suppressor out and then shoot it and all the cleaner will be ejected out the end.

The "keymicro" is there "p- series" aka pistol series it made for there pistol suppressors the normal keymo can be used in any suppressor that it universal hub mount threaded in the back. If you have keymo muzzle devices you can use any key mount suppressor mount like the sandman or the keymicro in the wolfman or ghost.

Something to consider is some 556 suppressors won't ever be hearing safe. But as far as timing goes it really comes down to barrel length, gas system length, ammo type, buffer weight, gas system adjustment, and atmosphere condition. So on my 17.5 it has a rifle length gas system which means it takes a long time for the gas to unlock the bolt essentially the exact opposite of like a 16" with carbine gas. It also has an A5 buffer system keeping the bolt closed for a little longer and slowing the bolt. Lastly atmosphere can make a big difference how far above sea level you are how cold or hot it is outside that kind of thing. I'm at 3000+ elv and I believe it was 50 degrees that day. A good rule of thumb when tuning an ar for suppressed shooting is turn your gas down via gas block till you have 4oclock ejection and run an h3 or a5 buffer.

How are you installing your qd muzzle devices? I have multiple DA cans(waiting on a sandman S in fed jail at the gun shop), and the one thing I can't get a clear answer on is how to mount the QDs. Rock set and torque to spec? Torque only? Any help would be appreciated. Also subbed! Thanks for the great info

I'd highly recommend roxette unless you're just temporarily putting the muzzle device on if that is the case give it just a little bit extra torque. Dead air specifies to torque their muzzle devices anywhere between 25 and 35 ft lb you can use a 3/4-in end wrench on the muzzle brake and both muzzle devices have wrench flats on the back I prefer to use a flash hider tool on the flashlighter but the wrench flats work the same way and I use an armorers wrench or 3/4-in and wrench that snug fitting. If you'd like to be really precise with it you can use a crow's foot wrench on a torque wrench to be honest just get it pretty tight but always always rule number one check with a bore alignment rod before you go out and fire you can get one pretty cheap on McMaster car or huxwrks or you can use a carbon fiber arrow from even Walmart

Dead air makes some great stuff but they dropped the ball on the detent ring. “When” it wares out, be prepared to wait more than a year for a replacement. Takes longer to get a replacement part than buying a new can.

Dead air‘s Lifetime warranty it’s terrible. I have been waiting a year for a detent ring mine failed right after I got it. If I treated my customers like that I would be out of business.

Di guns inherently get very dirty. Average blow back not terrible but not great either shorter guns will be worse then longer guns. I would recommend tuning all guns you plan on running suppressed or just buy the huxwrks

Whoever told you that is either naive or ignorant that's not sound advice. You really only have to bore align your suppressor anytime you change or move or loosen then tighten your muzzle device. Just because it's an AR or a bolt gun or a new gun doesn't mean the threads or bore are perfect from the factory. I'd rather buy an alignment rod one time and check it then have to send my suppressor back because I blew the end of it off or even worse you damaged it beyond repair.

He gave me a reason for why u might want one but he basically assured me that its a waste of money and i had nothing to worry about. So is there a specific style or brand u use? Like for the sandman in 30 cal if u wanted it on a 556 do u hve multiple rods for seperate calibers or is there just 1? Never looked into them cause he told me not to bother. Now im kinda angry about it but ive basically already shot it through all 10 of the guns if put the keymos onto. But do u need one per caliber not like a 556 would center in a 30 cal barrel? Do u have a video on alignment rods. Im new to your channel basically been clicking anything sandman s i see to gain as much knowledge possible from different sources. Good guess, I run muzzle brakes on everything that's not a fighting rifle. I prefer a flatter shooting rifle and a muzzle brake acts as somewhat of a sacrificial baffle.

Because if for some reason my suppressor goes down or I'm not using it (not likely) I don't want all the signature from the muzzle brake. Brakes are much louder and put of fire balls which is the exact opposite of what you want in a gun fight. Hence why the military has used them since before Vietnam.

@lorentracy006 not exactly like extra baffles, it's not going to make your can quieter. However it does have surface area for the hot gas to hit first before the blast baffle or first few baffles in the can. Muzzle brakes can extend the life of cans on short barrels, really all barrel lengths but we're it helps the most is short barrels. So yes and no it's like having extra baffles
