A few years ago my husband and I were driving home from a funeral, and it was Halloween day. So right off the bat there are two reasons to have a dead body on the mind. We were on a major freeway heading home and I look over off the side of the road and down the embankment and see a dead body. It was in a hoodie and jeans with the hood up around the head so there was little if no skin visible. Plus we were driving 75 MPH, so it went by in a flash. But the body looked grey to me. I said “Honey there’s a dead body on the side of the road” and of course his first thought and instincts were, “no your mind is playing tricks on you!” because of where we had been and what day it was. But I was certain and said “No, I know I just saw a body!” By this point we were to the next exit on the freeway so I said “you’ve got to go back!” So he took the exit and headed that way. I then dialed 911 and told them what I had seen. The 911 operator said well it’s probably a Halloween prank, plus it being a major highway and we’ve only gotten this one call, doesn’t make a lot of sense, but we will send officers out to investigate. We had a few miles to backtrack, it took us about 15 mins to get back and off the freeway to the frontage road. By the time we got there the first police cars were pulling up and I explained that I was the person that called 911. So of course they thought I was a kook. They asked me to point out where I saw this “body”. I started to second guess what I’d saw now because everyone doubted me. But we walked through a small field to the freeway roadside and a few yards from where we were standing was the body. I was sure it was stuffed clothes or a mannequin! But as we walked closer we could see it was a man. He was for sure dead. The police checked to be sure but he had been passed for some time. It was crazy. The police thanked me for calling and wanted me to make a statement at the station. Lesson learned…. Don’t doubt your eyes even if every one else does!!!

I was lifeguarding on the north east coast of England years ago. Me and my colleague saw what we thought was a tree stump. It was washing in the waves and we thought it might hit someone. We swim out to get it and this smell came tumbling at us. It was a drowned diver on a wetsuit who was lost weeks before. I swam away but my buddy brought him in. Balls of steel on that kid.

That must have been quite a shock though, you know thinking it was the trunk of a tree, then you get there & it's someone who has died..I mean he must have been in the water for a while.. I mean for people who haven't experienced something like this, thinking oh i would have bought the body in,or it wouldn't have bothered me,but when things happen in reality it's a diffrent story..And like you said the smell is enough to set off anyone's gag reflex..Luckily the body was in the wetsuit,i couldn't imagine what a nightmare it would be to bring a body in without it,skin & flesh falling away..I have only watched a few video's from bodies been rescued from water & some of them are not nice.. I hope you & your friend did not get nightmares, bless your friend that did take courage..At least you was not on your own or your friend..bless you both..I hope neither of you were traumatised over this,i know it's something you will never ever forget.. Stay safe & take care ☮🦋☮🦋

Ive only seen a dead body once in real life, when I was a teen. There was a hit and run just before we got to the intersection. We pulled up and saw a teenage boy about 14 or 15 years old on the road, in the lane beside us. He was on his back with his head turned to us. His face was pale, his lips were blue, and there was a big pool of dark red blood under his head. His eyes were open staring straight at me. This was about 20 years ago. I can never forget his face. I immediately started thinking about how his family was going to be receiving the worst news ever today😭

I had a stranger die in my arms as I cleared his mouth and laid him on the floor. He was, indeed choking. However, he had suffered a heart attack also. That is what killed him. Kurt died surrounded by his family and at a restaurant, celebrating his, birthday. He had just turned 70 years of age. When the medics arrived, he was already gone. I compressed the chest, a waitress breathed for him. I only interacted with Kurt for the last few minutes of his life. Rest in peace Kurt. You seemed a very loved man.

There is a thing called water spirit (ghost) in Korea. They are stuck underwater and needs a person to pull themselves up to the heaven above. The saying goes, when people are taken down by these ghosts, they don't float flat. They float upright. Glad that's just a hoodie tho.

When we were kids we were playing in the woods behind our neighborhood. Doing what kids in the '80s and '90s did, but don't do now, like building forts and exploring. There was a canal/ drainage ditch way back in there. One day we're back there and we see this dead body laying halfway in the water halfway on the embankment. Being 11-12 yr olds we were super freaked out and started running back home but then we stopped and worked up the courage to go back. The whole time we just kept thinking what if the person that killed this person is still in the woods watching us. We stood about 20 ft from it just looking and trying to work up the courage to get closer because something just looked a little off by the way it was positioned. We all agree let's just walk up together and try to lift up some of the clothing with a stick. As we got about 5-6 feet away it became clear to us that it was a mannequin dressed in clothes😂 Immediately it felt like a weight was lifted off our shoulders but then we started thinking who the hell would bring a mannequin all the way out here and throw it in a canal, so we took off running back home anyways 🤣

For once, it really WAS a mannequin! All these ppl finding dead bodies always say they thought it was a mannequin at first, and I'm alway saying, "it's never a mannequin! Ppl just don't throw away mannequins!" If I see something like that, I'm not gonna think "mannequin", I'm thinking "dead body". You are the rare exception of it actually being a mannequin!

Intersection by my house has its accidents every once in while, but when I was younger I remember an accident where a car pulled through the left turn lane without an arrow, right in front of an oncoming motorcycle. The guy on the motorcycle hit the vehicle straight on and he was thrown over the vehicle half way across the intersection. He was laying there on his back motionless as I noticed blood starting to leak from his head area and drain in a stream towards the sidewalk. He had his helmet on still, which for my sake I’m glad for. He never moved, and it was tough for me to realize, “damn, this guy is actually dead, he was alive a minute ago and now he’s gone, and I just watched it happen.” 😢

I also found a deceased soul, a woman, i work for the city in which I live, and i got a call to investigate a foul odor. Never did I imagine this was to be what it ended up being, but I went onsite with another inspector. I saw a collection of flies, and I followed them to what I surely expected to be a dead animal. Never did it enter my mind that this was going to be a human. But, to my dismay, it was a deceased woman. She had been missing for 6 or 7 days at that point. She did not have any clothing on, and I didn't notice it at the time, but her murderer had attempted to burn her, likely to hide any evidence. I believe he strangled her, then attempted to burn her, and left her until I found her. I immediately called the police as I ran away. It was just awful. I quickly learned her name, and I keep a newspaper cutout of the article about her death with some details. To this day, probably 10 years later, they still have yet to locate her murderer. I still hope they get him, and make him pay dearly. I read that news clipping from time to time.

Grew up in a very remote small town in the mountains of NC and back in 2003, when I was 14 years old, I saw a body hanging from a tree on the edge of the wood line probably 150 yards from the road, about a mile down the road from my house. It sent a chill down my spine and I remember feeling goosebumps all over me. The day I spotted it was October 26th, so when I used my old Nokia cellphone (the one with the extendable antenna) to call 911 I told them it could very well be just a Halloween decoration. The dispatcher told me she would send someone out to check but that most likely it was a prank. So i just kept walking to my friends house and tried to forget about it because it genuinely scared me. I was alone and wanted to walk closer to see if it was real but something told me not to. Later that day on my way back home I saw a ton of state trooper cars, first responders, and a fire truck parked where the body was. By then they had cut it down, but we’re still investigating the scene. Couple hours later a sheriff’s deputy came to my house and talked to my parents and asked me for a statement, so I told them what I saw and before they left I asked them if it was a real person (stupid question obviously) and he said yes it was real. He could tell I was freaked out so he left before I had a chance to ask more questions. Found out the next day that it was a young girl who had taken her own life. It was so sad because not only was she just 15 years old, she was not even from around the area. Took them months to find out who she was and find her family. She had ran away from home a few weeks prior to her death, and no one ever found out how she got the area, or why she was there. Makes you realize just how fragile life is and how some people need help even if they say they don’t.

Even though it happened almost 20 years ago I still get extremely sad and depressed thinking about how much pain and heartbreak that poor girl must have endured in her short life. I think it’s easy for people to harden their hearts and not get so upset about things like that, until it hits you in the face. That girl had a family and friends that loved her but they could not see just how depressed she really was until it was too late.

I was working on an assignment about the 2004 tsunami, and in the process consumed all the media I could find of the event. I was *not* prepared for the graphic images & descriptions. The bloated bodies were just bobbing around in the water, with their limbs hanging down. Then to makeshift morgues, out in the open air, with giant blocks of ice, trying in vain to slow the decay. People weaving through them, trying to recognise their missing loved ones... kids looking for their parents. The bodies were all in the same position as in the water, only now they lay on their backs with their limbs in the air. Absolutely horrendous stuff.

A story I’ve head way too many times. My father and his father ( my grandfather ) were fishing in a boat in N.S.W, Australia. Small tiny boat with a small outboard motor. Suddenly my grandfather hit something hard, the motor churned and stopped. My grandfather lifted up the engine and just as he had lifted the propeller out of the water to clear the strange obstacle, a body floated fast to the surface, with the body came a gut wrenching stench of decomposition. My father, young at the time had been witness to everything. Somehow the man in his overalls and gumboots had ended up in the water and drowned. My family back then had notified authorities. My father still often talks about this fishing trip and how it’s changed his life and aspect on safety

I've pulled floaters out of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, I've seen them float weird, but mostly, once gasses build up and bloat happens, they turn black on top, and, below, is a horror show, because every little thing in the ocean has a bite.. I had an arm and hand deglove once while trying to load a floater into a basket, I was a newbie, so I really did get sick, and it stuck, more than crabs , fish, and shrimp piling out or a corpse, just a gelatinous degloving.
@lawrencelyman3372

@💚Lady Lactuca💚 no, the corpse was black from the sun, above the water, below the water, little fish and crabs were eating the corpse. There was this wire mesh basket, attached to the helicopter by two lines, and it had orange floats around it. While trying to pull the corpse into the basket, the airman grabbed one of the corpses arms, arms that stuck straight out from both sides, and when he grabbed the hand and wrist, it "degloved" basically leaving a gelatinous mass of ick and bone behind. Once the corpse was secured in the basket, it was pulled into the helicopter, and once inside, all of the little sea creatures that had been feeding below the water line started to wiggle and flop off of and out of the bloated corpse.. hope that helps.

My brother was walking beside the river but low on the embankment when he came across a ladies coat, so he looked in the pockets and found nothing so he left the coat, then a few more steps he found her handbag, so he looked in it and found a letter and a ladies wallet, it contained the ladies ID and a few £GBP, he kept hold of that 😬 🤦🏻‍♀️ then a few more steps he found a shoe, a few more steps and he found her body, she was naked laid half in the river half out, he ran as fast as he could to find our father, he said dad dad you’ll never guess what I’ve found, dad said what you found this time, he said with a drip white face…a dead body… My dad thought he was telling lies, so they both left to see the poor woman. They phoned the police and they confirmed she was dead. It turns out the lady had just been released from a psychiatric hospital where she was on suicide watch for weeks, then a week of being out of hospital she committed suicide by drowning. The poor lady had no family at all and lived alone just a 5 min walk from our house. True story. My brother is 52 now and still talks about it.

My dead body story is when my cousin and I were like 10 , there was this abandoned building like 4 houses down from ours. One day , we were just being kids , and damn near went down the basement part . But as we got closer to the basement’s open window we smelled a decaying odor thinking it was a dead animal. As we got even closer , we saw a dead man laying on his back, his left arm sticking straight up in the air. Scared the hell outta me, cause I thought he was alive. We hauled ass, running full speed til we got home. According to the older folks , we overheard them saying that he’d died from an overdose, cause that’s where the junkies would go and shoot up.

When I was a strapping young man all of 12 years of age, my friend and I were walking to the 7-11 about 3 miles from our home. There is a very high and old concrete bridge over a creek and park that we had to cross. On this day there were two police vehicles surrounding an older 55 or 56 white Chevrolet coup. It was right in the middle of the bridge and that and the police kept our focus. When we approached the police we asked what’s wrong? One of the officers looked at me and paused, then he said we’re just checking on this car, now move along. We began walking, but I kept thinking that there wasn’t anyone at the car. Being curious kids we always peer over the bridge and look down because it’s a very high bridge. I said look, pointing down. There were multiple police cars and a couple of vans with police and people working in a concentrated area next to the creek and a rock pile. We watched for a while and figured out that they were picking up stuff and placing the items in white bags. Just then, the police yelled and told us to GET GOING, NOW! So, we began to move! We talked about what we saw and decided to take a closer look once we left the 7-11. About an hour or so later we came to the bridge, everyone was gone. So we decided to head down to see what the police were doing beside the creek. When we got to the area we didn’t really notice anything, but looking closer there was blood… everywhere! My hand was over my mouth and then my friend in a soft voice said someone jumped. I said nooo way! Sure enough someone had. We approached slowly because we knew it could only get worse and it did. We noticed very small pieces of bone and some bone with blackish-white hair on it. I spoke up and said I’m outta here, I’ve seen enough! So we started walking home and that was a very quiet walk with a heavy heart and sickening feeling in my gut. We knew Somebody had taken their life. It was as if this person had vanished. I thought a lot about the situation and finally we spoke a few words about but really couldn’t find many. We got close to our houses and he said bye, I said bye and we went our separate ways.

I’ve seen my share of dead bodies as a paramedic. The worst ones were those in the water for a long time (thankfully I never had any victims that drowned) or those who have been outside during the hot summer months for more than a week. I had one that had been outside in 100 degree heat in the middle of summer. He had been missing for about 2 weeks and someone finally found him in the woods near a house. He shot himself in the head so half of his head was missing and his body was so bloated with maggots everywhere. The only dead body that really grossed me out. Another one was from a car accident and he hit a tree and the car caught fire and the driver was killed. His body was completely charred and his head was in the backseat and shriveled and burnt from the fire. Arms and legs were burnt off and we were picking up bones. A femur here and a humerus bone there. Even found a piece of his cranium that was missing off his shriveled head. We had to get as much of his body out of the car as possible but much of it was ash. A few days later his wife visited the crash site and found a piece of bone and requested or demanded that a crew go back and sift through the car to get out every piece of bone, ash, and other body parts. When we picked him up it was dark outside and around 5am. The other crew that worked OT to do this sifted through the car for 6 hours. Picking up dead bodies isn’t part of the job I missed.

Non related but here's my Halloween story. I was heading over a friend's house. I was 16 ,she was 16 and beautiful. I was walking 4 miles to her house through some orchards and quite road. It's was almost dusk. A car drove past me. A man with black rimmed glasses was driving. He slowed then sped up. He turned around and drove past me again driving down a mile and turned left. Ten minutes later I'm still walking along the road and guy was again coming down the road. I dash into the trees of the orchard. About 50 feet. I picked up a rock. He stopped his car but didn't get out. He drove on 5 minutes later. I stayed in the orchard and when I came out there was a church. I ran inside. Soon after I looked through the window of the church and the guys car was parked in the lot. I was scared as I could be. He sat in this car 20 minutes then he drove away. A few weeks later there was a composite sketch in the news of possible image of a murder suspect. The picture was so much like the man in the car I saw. The image/suspect of the man went by another name. The Zodiac killer. I'm glad I never found out if it was him that day. 🎃🎃

Holy shit. I had something similar happen to me when I was around 8 years old, walking home from school across a big empty field, after staying late one day… I saw a van parked by the road I had to cross - I tested my fear by changing direction and the van turned around to go in the same direction… I quickly made a 90 degree direction and ran towards a house that had a ‘block parent’ sign in the window… the guy quickly sped off and the lady who let me in called my mom to pick me up. I’m grateful I had good ‘spidy-senses’ - I’m sure something would have happened to me if I hadn’t trusted my instincts… 😇

When I was 14 my buddy and I found a dead guy wrapped in a plastic bag on a mattress in the middle nowhere in a field.. We sped off on our bikes back home and called the cops. We didn’t have phones back then to make a video but that was far away from our thought.. Anyways.. cops too 3hrs to get us and by then we were already into playing wacky wheels and almost forgot that we called em. We bring them to the body only the head sticking out cos the bag was torn… They called up the body car and the cop asks where’s the barbecue meat… Got me feeling a bit sick.. Had to write down what I found for there books etc.. Get home again,, my folks see me not feeling so well so they decide to take me to the mall to watch a movie or something. While we drive a new song comes up back then which goes..: Your body,, my body… everybody move your body body body…. Branded for life and im happy I didn’t capture any video footage of it the memory is enough. But ey you should’ve fished out what ever was under that jacket. When I was 12, I went with my mom to her boss’s beach house for the day. All of her coworkers were there with their small children. I was absolutely bored, so I took a float and and floated out a ways from the group of them. I was an avid swimmer and being over my head didn’t bother me. All of a sudden I heard shouts from the shore, and everyone was pointing at something. Instead of turning around, I figured it was a shark, I swam as fast as I could to shore. I asked wha they were pointing at and my mom said it was a sea turtle right behind me, but he looked like he had hair. They all had seen it. That night, my mom got a call from her boss, a young boy had drowned that day two houses above us, and that it was the body they had seen bobbing up and down behind me.

Glad it wasn't a shark and you were safe. So sad for that family, but atleast they could have closure and grieve the loss instead of wondering for year what had happened to their child. My mom took me to the movies back in the day when Stand by Me came out...I may have been 7 or so. This was before there were previews for movies and I don't fault my mom for taking me to see it...maybe I even asked to see it because I liked River Phoenix who knows...movie gave me nightmares 😅 but it was a pretty good depiction of teenage mind sets. The curiosity to see a real dead body and all the different dynamics and backgrounds of the characters. Still one of my favourite movies to this day.

But then there's things like the KKK just a few trailer park loons around the country involved until the internet and now they can reach out to any sorry soul without a friend or cause in the world and grow. Anyone who wants another World War like Vladimir Putin, should be removed from our society immediately; right alongside anybody who thinks that they can storm our capital and deface everything we hold dear just because their candidate didn't win the presidency and is such a sore loser that he would ask them to. Saw a dead body in Florida right by Sharkys Pier near Venice about 16 years ago. We was on our way to go fishing, me, two friends, their younger brother and mom. We stopped at a red light, looked over casually to see a dead guy on the side of the road, and right next to it was a SUV parked with a huge human shaped dent in the front of the vehicle. Cops were just pulling up to put a sheet over the person. I was only 12 or so at the time, but I somehow had the strength to cover my friends little brothers eyes until the light turned green. All these years later I still remember it so vividly.

I was standing on the front deck of my houseboat looking to the west in the marina at this cool old Mahogany Chris Craft Boat about 75 ft away moored in a covered slip. And I noticed something very white with pink crossing it under the water at the front of a empty slip. Curious what it was I retrieved a pair of field glasses i keep in the cabinet below the helm of my boat. So I still cant figure out what it is even though I can see it much better than before. Being familiar with how the cables and buoy system works to hold everything in place in the marina I know whatever it is its not supposed to be where it is down in the suspension cables that keep the covered slips in position in the system. So then it hits me that its probably a beach towel thats blown into the water off of a boat. But my curiosity is killing me and I decided to jump on one of my skis and just motor over and check it out. So I proceed over and slide into a slip and tie my ski to a cleat and go over to the slip with the object caught in the cables. So im looking and for a few seconds I was confused by what I was seeing and then it became very clear. It was a bloated body of a blond female in a pink 2 piece Bikini. Her eyes were wide open and grey and she appeared to be caught between some cables with her hands reaching up to just a few inches from the surface. And her head just about a foot maybe 14-15 inches under the surface as well. I immediately took the ski strain to the marina office roughly 500 - 600 yards away . And came in hot to a slip at the main dock and kinda ejected onto the walkway as my ski went from maybe 15 mph to 0 mph when I made contact. I pop up and start to dart into the stairwell that leads up to the marina office to notify the marina of what ive found when i realize theres probably 25 or so people who just witnessed me bash my ski into the dock like some idiot and head towards the stairs. Well 2 of these people were State Parks Rangers that were looking at me with the classic " WTF " expression on their faces. Well i notify them and learn that the woman had been missing for 4 days. She was drinking at the marina bar and grill and then headed out to her boat and motored off. She apparently had either jumped or fallen into the water at the covered slips and got caught in the cables and drowned. It had happened on a Tuesday evening and I found her on Sunday. Very sad

When I was a young kid, there was an old abandoned house with no door I and a friend used to play in. Other kids/people must have too because of the garbage and things we'd find inside. The house had an old sofa, one of those old round metal oil or kerosene flame road markers that someone must have swiped and brought in; a kitchen table and chairs, stove, sink, refrigerator, etc. The basement was in the bathroom off the kitchen, with the basement door opening on the floor, itself. The door was open and you could see all kinds of boxes and things down there, but we never went down because it was dark and there was no electricity, so no lights, and because there was no door on the house, itself, we didn't know what might or might not possibly be living down there. There was also an upstairs with an old bed, a big console TV, and things, but it was all dirty and gross so we seldom went up there. One day when I was there by myself, I was shocked to see the TV come crashing down past the living room window! I snuck upstairs to see what was going on; there were two guys in worker's uniforms wearing hardhats throwing everything out the windows. Needless to say I got the heck out of there, upset that our hideout/hangout was being cleared out, which meant we couldn't go there any more. Within a week, the entire house was completely gone. An apartment building ended up being built there. Anyway, one day my mom was talking about a house that was being cleared out to be torn down and the workers found a coffin in the attic with the remains of a woman in it. It was our hangout house she was talking about! In all the time my friend and I had gone there, we never knew there was even an attic at all, let alone a coffin with a body in it, or we'd never have gone back! I still miss that house to this day, though, and the times spent there. 🙁

I was in a car accident when I was 16. This was 2007 on Staten Island, NY. I was riding passenger in a Mustang with a NoS hook up. It was the driver, myself, and one of our friends in the back seat. Along with the Mustang, there was another group of friends with us and they were driving inside a Honda Accord. 4 people in that car. 2 in the front, 2 in the back. We had all just left a restaurant on the south side of Staten Island. Theres a road leading out from the restaurant that was pretty much a half mile or so straight with no lights. So the two drivers, not exactly racing, just kind of driving fast next to each other. Of course we're all teens so we're pumped and think this is totally awesome. Both cars were easily doing 80-90 mph... until the Hondas right front tire dipped in and out of a gated sewer that drops below the curb to collect rainwater. His car started swerving uncontrollably. First to the left and smashed the Mustang we were in. We went over a concrete divider and hit a fence and stopped. Airbags went off, my face is burned from whatever sets the airbag off, but all in all, I'm fine for the most part. Then I looked back. I saw the Honda was in 2 pieces. After it hit the Mustang, it went to the right and slammed into a hydrant that split the car in 2 completely separating the front from the back. The two in the back seat, Tommy and Michelle, were both ejected from the car. I found Tommy about 200ft from the wreck. He was twisted up with a broken back but he was conscious and breathing. Now nobody can find Michelle. Mind you, there's woods right behind that hydrant they hit. So I walk about 50ft into the woods with my little flashlight... and there she was. Ill never forget the sight. I knew she was gone right away. The damage it did, nobody could survive. It looked like if someone had been put into a threshing machine. You can easily find this if you search for it. To this day, 15 years later, im still ridiculously cautious in anyone's car.

When me and my friend were maybe 11 and 12, we would ride out dirt bikes all around 4 feilds. There were 4 huge feilds with diffrent crops connects to eachother in a square. My friend lived on one feild and her neighbors lived on the other 3. There was a small section in the middle that connected the 4 plots and big tall shrubs right in the middle. Me and her were racing on her plot of land and as soon as we passed the shrubs, we saw her neighbor laying in the shrubs on his side of the feilds. He had shot himself in the head. We didnt move for maybe a few minutes and she took off yelling for her mom and i followed behind her. So yeah thats the time i found a body

I use to work as a MT in a morgue in a city. I assisted in many autopsies, but I never had a drowning victim. It may have been one when I was off. The morgue is open 24/7 operation. So when I younger my friends and I found a drowning victim in the river close to the shore, a white woman. She was pretty swollen. We pulled her to the shore. I must admit that it was pretty grotesque. One of our friends threw up twice in quick succession. That shit went everywhere. We were laughing hard for about ten minutes. We told the cops where she was and that was it. The guy talking could have pulled the body into the bay and tied it up and called the cops. That was once a living person and trust me dead people don’t get up. Have some respect. That person could be someone he knew.

In an Altman movie "Short Cuts" is the name , I think, there's a bunch of guys fishing in the mountains and they find a dead woman in the area they were fishing. So since it took them so long to get there, they decided to tie her so she didn't drift away and waited until the end of the fishing trip, 2 days later, to go and report it. The wife of one of the guys couldn't believe the guys were so blase about it. The wife had stayed home, obviously. It's like she saw a side of her husband she never knew existed. The husband said "there was nothing we could do, she was already dead" but she couldn't get over that they just left her there in the water and didn't even take her out. I might do the same thing. Male vs female thinking.

I had a roommate in my 20's who had a cute little house & a Bayliner boat. We were co-workers & a couple of my friends had been roommates with him. He was older than me...about 40 but real sweet guy & all female roommates platonic. I rented 2 small rooms & 1 small bathroom in the back of his house. Anyway, he loooved to take his boat out on Percy Priest Lake, which is huge, in Nashville, TN. We'd heard stories on the news periodically of bodies turning up in that huge lake. We loved to swim in it, but I always got creeped out there might be a body floating under me somewhere when we swam. 🤔 Welp one day we were on the boat near an enclave to the shore. We saw something large & bloated in all orange floating face down. We cruised in a little closer & realized it was a man's body dressed in an orange fishing outfit totally dead floating face down. We called the Coast Guard & they came & got him out. It was, of course, on the news the next day. And they were trying to identify the man. That did it for me. I would still go out on the boat with my roommate, but I never jumped in that water to swim again. It's a very large lake & over the years, prior to my actually witnessing a dead body in that lake, we really had seen on the news of countless bodies turning up in that lake. It was just super creepy & I couldn't deal with what all the hell might be floating underneath me while swimming in the deep waters. I don't know if they ever identified the poor man or not. But from a distance, we thought at first it might be some sort of orange tent, or small life raft blown up a bit with water & air. Nope. It was a dead body, face down & super bloated. May he rest in peace but seriously, it was SO GROSS!! 😱

@Michelle Storm Music Oh it's beautiful for sure! That's why we went out there on the boat all the time. I did moonlight swims too & yes it was just gorgeous! 🌙 What I witnessed & when we were seeing bodies being discovered (on the news) in Percy Priest Lake ALOT more than usual, than me or anyone I knew, was back in the 1990's. It wasn't a serial killer situation. There was a long-term rash happening of random reasons such as, sadly, suicides, random accidental drownings where the person (s) were being reported on the news as, say, people on their boat saw them dive into the water off their boat but never re-surfaced. And a few murders. 😢 So, the news was reporting each incident of course, in case anyone found the person (s) alive or deceased in the lakes or surrounding areas. It slowed down finally but UGH there was a rash of cases that went on for awhile. And unfortunately me & roomie boat owner saw one. Anyway, I don't live near that area anymore so haven't been to the lake or Nashville Shores in a long time. 😉 I'm glad to hear it's still beautiful, & that you & others are still enjoying all those lakes Nashville has to offer. 🏊‍♂️ 👙 ❤️ 👍 🚢 🚣‍♂️

My childhood home is right off a major interstate in Texas. When we were young, my older siblings would run up to the highway when they heard a crash. I would tag along being the baby of the family. I remember a car on fire and the distinct smell of burnt hair. One of my older sisters grabs me and pulls me to her to cover my vision. I still don't drive to this day. I am now 53. Also a 16 wheeler fell through the narrow section between both sides of the interstate. The trucker was layed out on the ground, deceased. He had a full red beard and looked like he was asleep. Poor guy.

And designed to be Very Good At Getting their food. and think the diver is a seal. or food opportunity when they are hungry and often will pull away but when very hungry Won't . . especially when divers are in murky water diving for shells ..
