I once hear the best line ever "Your fun isn't my job, but don't make others' game miserable." Everybody has the right to play as they want and bring what they want, but there's a line between fun and making the other party feel miserable. If your mentality is, "Crashing other's mood is part of my fun", then you are a bully, not a competitor. Because your focus is to make the other party feel like trash, not to have fun in a video game and win.
@FatherAntithetical
@FatherAntithetical Жыл бұрын
This is my take on it too. "if you're doing something because you're trying to win and it's the smart choice in the moment, you're not being toxic. You're just playing the game and trying to win. If you're doing those exact same things, but you are doing them because you want to make the other person miserable, you're a toxic asshole. EVEN if those things are the smart choice in the moment. Why you do what you do matters more than what you are doing."
@NotJarrod

This. It's almost like "it's not my job to help you have fun" can be translated to "I think it's my job to be a source of misery and purposely go out of my way to piss people off." I literally haven't heard it in any other context: the only time I've ever heard it is when a killer is trying to defend playing like a boring arse, like basement bubba, slugging til death, hacking, etc.

The meg and kate refused to heal him for 4 mins until he bled out because I couldnt find him when I realised what was happening. For the next 40 minutes, the kate and meg hid in lockers. @larsliamvilhelmI can confirm this mentality. Back probably about 3 or more years ago a friend and I played way too much together in a 2 man squad. There were many sessions where he’d outright get tunneled out because he was good and killers at the time just did not hit and run at all compared to now. So every game was him running the killer while everyone else did gens. A lot of times he get tired of the same match like this so I’d have to start running all the assistance stuff like the instaheal meds, borrowed time (was almost a given at the time anyway) we’ll make it. Basically anything to get him back on his feet immediately or help him stay on his feet.

I love how the video starts critisizing the utilitarian moral approach, but never actually gets to the Kantian one fully. However, it seems to me that the argument about basic decency and kindness towards others could really benefit from it. Whenever you're doing something dubious against the other side (camping, tunnelling, flashlight-bullying, genrushing etc.) consider how you would react, if you were on the other side. Playing frequently as the other side actually helps a lot in modelling such scenarios. And then do unto others as you would have them do unto you 🙂
@FatherAntithetical
@FatherAntithetical Жыл бұрын
That works great until you are someone who doesn't care if they are being tunneled so tunnel. You may not care, but other's will. And other's will always take fault in something you do, even things you wouldn't care about. Example: I once had survivors get mad at me because I refused to m1 as Huntress. Yes, you heard me: Because I wanted to throw hatchets, a group of 4 survivors said I was toxic.

Daily reminder that nothing you said is toxic, its part of the game, except maybe what is flashlight bully for you, if its looking for a flashlight save and nailing it 3 times in a row is just part of the game. The real toxicity is when that surpass the game and people are insulting, harrasing another human being for what happened on a videogame. You say gg and move on to the next match.

Quite the contrary, playing killer a lot will explain a lot of why killers do that they do. For example tunnelling is just something that is rarely punished and ALWAYS brings a benefit to killer. 4k as well, I have become very acquainted with the ranking system and let me tell your. If you do not 4k you can kiss that iri hook goodbye.

Yup, can't argue w that logic. It's always the most try hards who complain too. Most people are fine. I get mostly GG's even when I kill everyone. And if I notice the killer is new, once the exit gates are powered, I'll stay behind w them when everyone leaves and let them practice hitting me and give em a kill. Because I remember how frustrating and steep that learning phase is with how much asshole survivors like bullying new killers. And I want them to not give up.

Good video. The whole community needs to remember it’s a FUN game. Today I had 7 consecutively awful games. A clown slugging people and letting them bleed out at 5 gens was the worst example. In my experience, 9/10 games if the survivors are alive and not in danger, they'll still waste the killers time by waiting at the gate just to T-bag and leave. Those are the type of people to say "your fun isn't my job" but get upset if they aren't having fun. Asking survivors to stop being toxic is just not in their nature as the gang up role. I've just accepted that at this point. We'd need a widespread focused effort from the community to even try and change it. I really wish this wasn't the case. It's not hard to not be an a-hole playing survivor.

I think the problem stems from the players that are inconsiderate from either side and don’t look into those grievances for themselves. It’s easier to extend grace to others if you know what ails them. I used to run slowdown builds on killers but after fighting against 5 killers back to back who all stacked slowdowns, with my friends, I had finally understood just how unfun it was to go against. I transitioned to running only one slow down perk and eventually I’ve developed the confidence and enjoyment from running 0 slowdown builds like STBFL+Enduring+Spirit Fury+Bamboozle. You shouldn’t blindly submit to the will of others. Look into those issues yourself and resolve those issues in a way that’s fair. You can’t just assume that everyone who criticizes your gameplay is doing it out of good faith and 0 bias, especially if it is coming fresh out of a match. I’ve received a ton of criticism for playing around a hooked survivor during the end game collapse. But the truth is, what else should I do as killer? The remaining 1 or more survivors have no incentive to be overly altruistic. There are no other objectives to patrol. The game is about to end too, how is this toxic? Because I don’t give up like you want me to? Anytime my friends or random soloq survivors get camped, I leave them unless given a reason to go for a save. I’ve played through the same scenarios multiple times as those survivors I play against, and I don’t get mad at those killers.

STBFL+Enduring+Spirit Fury+Bamboozle is literally my build too haha... mainly on Demo but I only run slowdowns on Bubba. True. If you make the experience for everybody else in a group miserable, don't be surprised when you have nobody to play with. People like to say it's not their job to make sure you have fun, but I guarantee they wouldn't be very happy when everybody wants to leave such a miserable presence in the dust. Like back when Legion could moonwalk-chase for guaranteed downs, it didn't take a genius to figure out during that time that anybody who played Legion was going to guarantee at least 2 people or so DC against them. Because nobody finds that fun. That's the major flaw in these peoples' argument -- they *are* responsible for the fun as you said. Even if it's in a smaller, indirect way.

I main killer and I always believe the survivor's fun is my job. I play movie killers with lore accurate perks/add-ons (whether they notice or not lol) and strive to give survivors a challenging yet not impossible game. If someone DCs I back off and goof off a bit. If I feel like I ran the game too hard I give the last person hatch. If I feel like one survivor is especially bad I'll give them a break here and there. If I keep running into the same survivor I'll just walk away as not to tunnel. If I feel like someone played especially well I'll give them hatch Do I lose games sometimes because of these things? Yes. Do I get bullied sometimes? Yes. Do I get it thrown back in my face sometimes when I'm a bit generous to a survivor? Absolutely. But as the killer I'm here to make the game fun. That is my goal. There are 5 people per match and as killer I have a massive say in how much fun 80% of the players have. If I make the game too challenging it's frustrating for that 80% or if I make the game too easy it's boring for that 80%. It's all a give and take and taking a big ass L doesn't always mean you didn't have fun So just be decent to each other out there. You don't have to always be putting others' enjoyment first but if you just consider it from time to time when the situation arises, who knows, you might actually start enjoying things more yourself as well PS: Yes, I am also TheLaborPeasant on DBD (PSN console pleb lol)

A thing that really gets to me about a lot (not all, but a lot) of people that use that exact line, it's that it's not usually an actually consistent stance at all. Have you EVER seen someone type something like "that was annoying, but MY fun isn't YOUR responsibility and the strat worked. ggwp"? I HIGHLY doubt it, because that never happens. A lot of people that throw the line out absolutely don't want it to apply both ways. I've met some people that play super hard and fully expect (and even want, as they're just very competitive minded players) the same from opponent(s) and that's totally fine. But a lot of the time that's not the case and it's just hypocrisy.

In the same way people are upset about the unwritten rule books in game, I’m upset about the unwritten rule book in the community. Strategies like tunneling and camping give the Killer Role a lot of power. However, because the community constantly talks down on these strategies, a lot of killers would rather have 4 survivors escape going for different targets rather than being harassed for using these strategies. Unless the devs take power away from these strategies and implement them elsewhere in the Killer’s kit, it is absolutely up to the Killer to do whatever they want to win/have fun.

As a masochist who got all trophies / achievements for this game twice, I'm glad I don't take the game that seriously and don't pay too much attention to balance and just assume I'm not as good against some killers / survivors in certain circumstances. If I got irritated every time I had to use a killer or survivor with their perks and get a win I'd have never got there. I just shrug it off and I'll get it eventually. That being said, I still remember the last time I played and faced an Oni on Ormond and I spun him several times as Detective Tapp and he proceeded to message me for several days to tell me how much of a bitch I was, looping / spinning a killer takes fun away from the other players and nobody has fun because I chose to spin / loop them the whole game. So far I've had two instances where people try to stick their negativity on me. In one game, I gave the killer a sacrifice because they really got nothing all match; no chases, barely any hits, and no hooks a tall, in the EGC I gave them my medkit and pointed to a hook, afterwards a Claudette in my team started berating me on why did I do that, but luckily I was able to make her understand that it's a game after all. The second time was with an afk Legion, they came back right before the last gen was done and started farming with us. I wanted to give them a sacrifice and they kept refusing, so I left and in the endgame chat they told me to "never give the killer anything" which was possibly the most confusing thing ever lmao. On a side note with a wholesome moment, I was playing Legion and RNG sent me to Coldwin farm, needless to say it was a pretty trash game for me with barely any hooks when the gates were about to be opened. I somehow was able to hook a survivor and I was thinking about facecamping them just to get a kill, however I remembered that throught the whole match none of the 4 survivors showed any kind of BM towards me, no tbag, no flashlight clicking, no "come here" emotes on me, they all played fair and square, so I just let the survivor go expecting toxicity regardless, but to my surprise all of the survivors were in a SWF and actually praised me for playing fair, understood how onesided Coldwin is, and were so nice overall that my mood was completely restored. It is indeed the little things.

I think the most important thing to keep in mind here about that topic is that, people who use it are generally the people who have an advantage over others in a game and use it maliciously. You talked about the way a killer will use it after slugging everyone for 4mn on the ground, as well as survivors purposefully bullying a baby killer because they realise they can. And, I'm going to say this and be real : If you're in a position of power, and you KNOW you can do anything you want, then the other side's fun IS your job. If you're a god-tier Nurse and you play against people who barely know how to play the game, you don't need to tunnel the first guy asap and then slug everyone on the ground and kill them instantly. If you're a full swf and you're playing against an M1 killer that is clearly struggling and hasn't had a single hook while 4 gens have been done, maybe it's time to stop Head On-ing him over and over again. I had a game like this recently, where I faced a Blight with CP 33 and Alc Ring, with Pain Res DMS & Lethal Pursuer. The guy instantly rushed to us, started chasing one guy, then realised another one was AFK, downed him and hooked him. We went to the unhook, killer came back, and downed/hooked the AFK guy again. By that point, another survivor DC'd cause they realised it's an unwinnable game and can't be arsed playing this. Second unhook, killer comes straight back to do it again. I stand in front of the guy, point at the AFK teammate and put the medkit I looted in a chest down to ask for kindness. Guy downs me, then goes around the map to look for the last survivor, down him, hook us and win the game. At 5 gens left, with an AFK Teammate and another one that DC'd. Now, I'm not saying the guy HAD to let us live. Guy wants to play the game, I understand this. But come on. Kill the guy who's AFK, let the others take a bit of a head start and chase them. Hit them, let them reset, and do it again. Have a bit of fun, play with people. The guy knew he'd won the game the second he hooked that AFK guy and decided to be an asshole about it, and when I pointed it out to him, I obviously just got "Your fun is not my job". Which, in this case and many others, is complete bullshit. He was in complete control, he knew it and took advantage of it as soon as he could. And instead of taking it easy, he decided to sweat his ass off, and that says a lot about this game's community that they don't care about something being unbalanced, they just want to win whatever the manner. That's why you see a pretty high number of people running Doctor with Merciless Storm these days, that's why at some point you saw lots of Billys with Enduring around Trickster's release, that's why you saw a lot of Freddys at some point where DS was bugged and would not stun Freddy. People do not care about fun, all they want is that dopamine hit because they see a screen that says "you won", and they don't give a shit about the rest. And to be fair, I think it's pretty sad, because at the end of the day, we all just want to play the game and have fun. And going against the 10th killer that will tunnel you out asap for "pressure" is not fun for anyone. Also, sorry for the lenght. But I needed to just say all of that so yeah, TLDR uh

I don't wanna say that killer toxicity is fine, because it absolutely isn't, but killer players eventually get to a point where they're tired of losing despite playing perfectly and fair, and they just resort to top teir killers with really strong builds. Like when I kill a toxic survivor, I'll often message them something like "L you're trash I'm better" just to hurt them the way they tried to hurt me. I don't really mean the toxic things I say, but more often than not, if I'm not toxic first, the survivor will be. And no, I'm not some "killers are good and survivors are bad" kind of person, I'm just stating my opinion on the matter
@VenomSWR

@@Username-vn1wx See, while I agree, I also think it's the wrong way to go about things. For sure, if a survivor is toxic I will take an insane amount of pleasure in destroying them and their team, BM back and trashtalk in the end game chat because they deserved it. But unless something really bad happened, I won't play toxic or too OP first. To me, and that is just me, I take pleasure in knowing I won with a lot of hooks, not kills. So I'll always try to go for that, even going as far as avoiding people who have been recently unhooked, and playing with sometimes stupid stuff (like Dark Devotion on Nemesis and Wesker), full aura builds on Huntress and Nurse, and a No Way Out/Remember Me build on Legion... And tbh those games are way more fun even if I lose y'know, and people rarely complain about that. I get "losing" is annoying, but it really depends what counts as a win or a loss to you. What makes you happy in the game should be your win condition, not the number of kills

That's exactly how I think about this game! When I play survivor and I am getting stomped, if the killer realizes this and does his best to 2 hook everybody before starting to sacrifice, the game turns into the best match of that night. Even if I lose, I am incredibly happy I get to play against a good killer that gives me all of the advantages he can, and still manages to defeat me. Same when I play killer. When I know I will win the game (after winning a couple of chases at 5 gens, after seeing how survivors play, this becomes obvious), I am not gonna tunnel or camp. I will help everybody get the most amount of points then maybe even spare the last 1 or 2. These games are so much more fun than sweating and bming all the way through the match.

I’ll do everyone from each side one better! Why don’t devs do more for us? This statement is super wide… but the reason I say this is that the main reason I “played with my food” on easy matches wasn’t (only) for the fun of it, but because I was a BP addict and would gain extra BP for hooking survivors, hitting them a lot by first doing a regular hit and THEN using my 1 hit ability like a chainsaw to optimize BP and added flexing to gameplay. So devs can and should change the game according to their vision. They want 2K’s to be the standard? They want to discourage camping/tunneling. Give killers a Base Kit power-up on first hook, just like how Survivors got base kit borrowed time. Make adept achievements trigger without 4K’s/only escaping. I played this game for over 5 years… kinda left and having lost neurons to Resident Evil mainstream fans that will now say the newest dumbest stuff. So the answer to fix DBD doesn’t lie on dumb ideas by the popular community, but by smart devs… which BHVR doesn’t have. Example? All other games like Fromsoft and them not adding difficulty sliders (that’s the internet guy doing build videos job). And FF14 online and YoshiP. Sure he does listen to the community, but he had a vision and gave a dead game a great comeback! Essay over. Like Tru3 says, DBD is an emotional community. And seeing the reception to the 2 latest killers I see that hasn’t changed.
@Eelanos
@Eelanos Жыл бұрын
I absolutely love that you mention DBD's community being emotional and Fromsoft games and their difficulty policy in the very same comment, because the absolute meltdown I see every time someone even mentions running mage builds and using multiplayer/assists on souls games is definitely not that far from what I see in the DBD community. "You haven't really beaten the game!", "Git gud!", "You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked, nothing was gained. It's sad you don't know the difference." type of stuff. And then you mention FFXIV whose entire content creation philosophy is "Give the people what they want" regardless of if it takes days or literal years, which stands polar opposite to Fromsoft's "We know best" policy.

@@Eelanos glad to see an experienced gamer. Exactly! With Elden Ring I hate how many in the community insult Spirit Summons. I was never a fan of Coop on the other games cause it felt like an afterthought, but with Spirit summon Fromsoft had to account for that and many bosses are better at changing targets even if the untrained eye has a hard time recognizing that feature! Also in repeat playthroughs, it allows for fun strats like casting attacks with super long charge times that would otherwise be impossible to use. So you balance 2 birds with 1 design decision. And as for FF14, yes. It’s the GOLDEN STANDARD/benchmark of a live service game. Yet like my comment said, it takes a great dev to make those visions a reality. Yoshi-P is also working in making FF16 and everyone is going nuts about it. The magic here is that listening to the player base isn’t the key to success. It’s assessing the good advice from the bad advice. And while it must have been super hard at the beginning, eventually he did revive the game and the expansions we get today continue to make the game relevant! Thanks for reading the comment. Gaming is a behemoth of an industry and it’s intriguing to see the strategies of those who are beloved by the public compared to those who are having trouble. Like we could add Warzone 2 to the conversation a economic success on paper, but it’s having a crisis on public opinion because they are being cheap by reselling old content and showcasing a general lack of creativity.

I think youre conflating 2 different things. Killers that regularly camp/tunnel/slug dont do it to be spiteful. If it was just about spite that would mean they genuinely hate everyone, which is rare. They do those things to generate pressure when facing good teams. Which leads to the "youre boring and this was unfun" which the inevitable response of "your fun isnt my job." The killers that are "spiteful" are pretty rare, someone outplayed them yesterday so they bring a mori when they see that person today and then camp/tunnel/slug to make sure that one person dies. Thats spite. Or slugging a surv to death because they used dh. I doubt many, if any of those killers use "your fun isnt my job" when asked why. And because of this conflation, the first half of your video contradicts the second half. Either killers can camp/tunnel/slug because its actually part of the game built in by bhvr and your fun really isnt their job, OR those killers are just being spiteful. @@NewSirenSong yeah thats on bhvr though. Its just a simple fact that unless youre playing nurse and blight, if youre facing a good team you will have to camp, tunnel or slug at some point in the match. Its why the gens can get so fast, its why you can hear cote saying its something killers shoukd do. Its why you can watch devs play and see them doing it, its why you cant be banned for any of it, its why they give survivors tools to deal with it but never make any big changes to stop it (which btw they can easily do). You said yourself holding m1 on a gen isnt fun, without making MAJOR changes to the base game, the only way they could outright remove those options is by adding a significant amount of time to gens, which would be extra boring and ruin the game. It would be great if the game revolved around hooks (aka chases) instead of kills/escapes, it woukd be more fun, but it would be a completely different game at that point. Maybe DBD 2

If the survivors run dead hard, head on, saboteur, adrenaline, breakout, boil over, etc., if they flashlight click or teabag or whatnot, they will receive more flak, more aggressive patrols, and more "unfair" strategies from the killer. So we have this match against a nurse and he had a 3 gen long chase with her till the exit gates were powered without even getting injured- We 99 gates and unfortunately the nurse had noed, ended up catching the guy, carried him to basement and stayed in basement, hard camping him. We did the one logical thing and... Well, left cuz we had like no chance at saving him. This guy was so extremely salty, he told us how unfair this was because he looped the Nurse longer than all of us and that we better get our asses down those basement stairs because he was "entitled" to escape. Well yeah, we kinda left, didn't take him serious though made sure not to escalate the situation into a fight aaaand never played with that guy ever again because jesus christ, that salt.

I brought in no mither, self care, inner strenth, and Built to Last with a powerful medkit. I remember I got downed after a 2 gen chase, used 1 pallet, and I was hooked and left for dead. And in the end game chat, I was called out to have wasted all the pallets in the map, that I was trolling and deserved to die first hook as me bringing in the build basically threw the entire game according to them meanwhile they told one another to purposefully not to unhook me. Guess what happened? Killer 4ked but I was blamed by the 3 man swf. Some people’s fun isn’t worth trying make happen for them when people and groups like this exist. If it was me and some friends, I’d gladly play with the intent to goof off. But in solo queue or playing as killer, trying to consider the fun of others is just impossible at times and with the way some people are, I couldn’t care less how much fun they had cause they also had the intent to ruin things for me. So it’s a slippery road that I can see justifications for both groups

most people who "tunnel" just happened to run into the same survivor again. Say you hook a survivor, leave, kick a gen, maybe break a wall, and then come back to the hook and you see that same survivor out in the open. Should you leave them because you hooked them already? No. Their fun isnt your priority. But on the other hand, if one or two healthy survivors are in your face trying to get you to hit/chase them and you decide to ignore them for the injured. Then it becomes a problem. Sometimes the injured will be in a bad loop while the uninjured isnt and i understand that but the healthy should of tried to make themself look like an easier catch if they wanted the killer to chase them. Sometimes the saying "Your fun isnt my job" is acceptable and sometimes it isnt. Sorry for rambling and thanks for bringing this up as i dont see many people talk about it.

After a match you definitely shouldn’t be toxic and message someone keep it to yourself just say GG and once your mind is clear look at what you could’ve done better and applying it to the next match

What I'm trying to say, is how am i supposed to "get good" if i don't get to play at all?

i like to be kinda harsh as killer normally, not asshole harsh, but i do not sugarcoat it When i notice that survivors are getting dunked too hard and are just being generally nice, or just playedreally well, i like to give hatch for one i choose or even open the gates sometimes when they're assholes nah, hard all out 4k

You are asking for the impossible: Empathy from a demographic largely defined as being bullied for the majority of their life, possibly forced to live in a basement and finally finding a sliver of escapism from all those years of physical & mental torture by playing as a Serial Killer… Oh, and this is the internet. So good luck with such lofty ideals

"your fun isn't my job" my brother in christ I play killer to make fun games for both me and survivors. I do like to win, but if the second generator pops and I only have 1 hook or something, I just decide to have fun chases instead of going for a 4K.

yeah the problem is when your in someone like my boots where you try to make sure everyone has fun. you get teabagged at the exit gate you get survivors winning matches they shouldnt because they brought bnp and the best medkit its hard to care about the other sides fun when the 1 side doesnt want to care for the other its why i just let go of trying to make the match fun for everyone. i still have some of my morals. i wont immediately i enjoy the feeling of spreading pressure but once the other side makes playing for hooks harder i.e bodyblocking teammates(especially after being unhooked), do gens incredibly fast by having perks or toolboxes to do so, and comp dropping. i just throw the whole thing out the window and make the match miserable back. i bring chill builds usually only running dead lock or pain res i dont like running alot of gen perks but when the other side doesn't appreciate it the match is just miserable

While it’s definitely not a killer’s job to make the match fun, as a killer main I personally do see it as my responsibility to ensure that everyone in my trials has a good time and gets decent play time and bloodpoints. No one has to play this way, but it’s the way I feel about the role and the way I enjoy playing it. Survivor can be pretty stressful and frustrating, so I make sure to hook each person once and then each person a second time. I give everyone a good chase, sometimes I’ll go to a further hook to give them time to wiggle off or I let that Meg very clearly hiding behind a tree get her flashlight save in. I set my own personal goal of getting double hooks and getting every survivor as many/more BP than me and, surprisingly, I find this often a lot harder than going for 4ks. No one has to play Killer this way, but I just feel good knowing that I gave survivors at least one match that day where they actually got to play and have fun. 😊

There's a difference between prioritizing your own fun for the win and going out of your way to be obnoxious with BM. There are players, killers and survivors, who will literally make it their goal to "farm salt" and then feed you that line when there is justified protest. That is when "your fun is not my responsibility" does not apply. Yes, you are entitled to play how you want but karma is very real and you cannot deny that you are a part of the problem when it comes to toxicity in this community.

Honestly, as someone who plays killer more than survivor, I become friendly for 4-5 games after I reach the point where I get sfw teams who get super salty when I put on lightborn because 3 of them had flashlights and I knew what they were trying to do. And I want to clarify that I am just stupidly awful as a killer. I don't have hearing in one of my ears so I am very directionally challenged without certain perks. But meh, I play this game casually because I find it fun. I don't really understand why so many people can only have fun if they win the match or get so much joy out of bullying new or mid-mmr killers. Even when I play survivor, I get a lot more fun out of games where we and the killer just goof around and do stupid stuff together.

It's not my job to make everyone happy , that doesn't means that I am allowed to be an asshole. I play with my own fun in mind ,while trying to now make other players have a bad time. I'm not a people pleaser, bcs that comes with having on the long run a very bad time. Kindness should be though without a return in mind, but it's also true that when you try your best and player spit on your face it becomes frustrating. I had good experiences but also very bad ones that left the mark (as far as harassment on private messages on my ps account). So yeah, think about yourself but be polite while doing so.

one time I went into a locker to recharge my item and that yeah *THAT* nea with blond hair just looked at me and I could her her neuron activate inside her head, after that she proceeded to go apeshit on my locker, obviously I received salt in the endgame chat

I say it often mainly because I get complaints almost every game I have about me camping/ tunneling/ slugging even when I play like a saint until the endgame, even if I am learning a killer I still want to get some kills I don't even play with perks and add in half of my games and people still send me 80 billion messages about it.

I tried following every rule. Never tunneled (unless their rescuer was closer to death than them), never camped (even in the endgame), didn't play meta killers, didn't use strong addons, didn't use meta perks, counted hook stages closely, put the survivor's fun over my own at every opportunity. I still got salt and I still got disrespected if I lost. So I don't care anymore. I won't go out of my way to make your match miserable, but if you get off the hook and do a conspicuous action in my face without healing, you're going back on the hook.
@hyperboi4077
@hyperboi4077 Жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I used to do. Now I don’t count hook stages and just go from target to target. I usually don’t go for the same person if I can help it as I like to let all survivors get a few chases in as chase is the most fun aspect imo. I’ve had games where I do literally everything in my power to ensure fun on both sides and salty survivors throw it in my face. Because of that, I stopped trying to please them and realized I can only really make myself have fun. Now I will definitely camp/slug/tunnel if the survivors are encouraging it.

There's a difference between trying to make some have a bad time by not playing the game how it's intended Then you playing a way someone doesn't like It's hard to make everyone happy the best you can do is play for your own fun and not trying to go out of your way to make someone's elses game fun cause you can't control it and unfortunately for survivors half of what makes killer fun is winning cause their objective is the fun part Just like how it is for survivor

@@ass640 losing due to terrible map design and feeling hopeless is miserable for the killer. Tunneling is subjective I love to be tunneled I think it's really fun to be tunneled and to help a tunneled teammate. The only time those are "miserable" is when u want to win. But just you, idc cause it means my team gets out. And yeah that's a challenge though I highly doubt your gonna let a bubba kill you all in the basement for his 4 sacrifices in the basement in 1 game challenge. Luckily though as survivor if a match is going the way you don't like for any reason you can suicide on hook. Killers can't quit a match without a DC penalty so if they don't want to play the game win or lose those are things their gonna do. I face camp on rpd because I'd rather lose then not play and if I just stand in the corner survivors are just gonna sit there and try to get me to play the game. I do think camping shouldn't be in the game, but tunneling has a lot of interactions on both sides just most survivors are to bad in chase to last and yeah sucks for your challenge but you aren't going to always get them the 1st game you play

I run into the situation of survivors beaming on me in end game chat on a decently regular basis ever several games or so because I do play in a competitive fashion. Fun to me in games is the mastery of a craft, whether it be a character in a game like dbd or overwatch, a weapon in a game like apex and many other shooters or even just mastery of general game knowledge in primarily single player games like borderlands and dark souls. I play in a way that makes me feel competent but I still actively try to not do things such as tunneling, but then you have survivors who have a much broader definition of tunneling than I do, such as downing a survivor after they got off of hook even though I hooked an entire other survivor in between the time that this original individual got hooked and then off of it. I didn't hook the same survivor in a row, but it made their experience less fun and thus I am guilty of whatever charge they can come up with to use against me. If a survivor has a legitimate criticism to make of my gameplay, which can actually just be a general tip to playing better, I gladly respond with appreciation and when people give compliments or just a simple gg I always respond accordingly. But when somebody comes at me with accusations of "playing the game wrong" just because I did really good, or held a three gen, or played around their mistakes then I am always perfectly fine with responding with a simple "cope" and watching their flood gates burst open. The only reason I do that is because this person is the one that's trying to enforce the idea that you HAVE to play for other people's enjoyment, which is just not true as was stated in the vid. At the end of the day, just because I'm a Bubba main I'll always catch a ton of flack, regardless of how little tunneling or camping I do.
