OLD Freddy required you to force survivors into the dream world with your sleep power and lullaby first before you could hurt them. It was really cool thematically, but was pretty bad in actual gameplay and made him the lowest tier killer. Then the 2019 rework happened that gave him blood puddles / dream pallets (among many other buffs) which caused him to have an insane kill rate for a couple years until massive nerfs in 2021 dropped him down. Though even as recently as February of this year data from BHVR showed he was at the 5th highest killer rate. My guess is the rework slated for January is to fix what is actually his biggest flaw: the community finds him incredibly boring to play as or against in the current game. Also I'm assuming, that while he has a high kill rate, it's probably a very inconsistent kill rate. My guess is it's very high at low and mid tier MMR and conversely fairly low at high tier MMR due to sheer number of counters his kit actually has i.e. he's useless against awake survivors and his teleport becomes unusable at the end of the trial. You roughly go half a Freddy trial without your powers, making you a lowly M1 killer.

The twitch charms/shirts are like one of the only major gripes i have with dbd because it just feels so luck based. Either get extremely lucky and be one of the few chosen or know a fog whisperer when they were able to hand them out. I know bhvr doesn't want to just hand them out like candy and give them to the "good noodle" streamers & not problematic ones but again it just feels so rare for the average person. Especially when dbd is such a stream heavy game, i cant go a lobby without having a TTV or someone who has TTV in their steam profile.
