I have always, ALWAYS adored your music. But I wanted you to know: After my husband's suicide in January, 2019, I suffered (and still do, but it's getting better!!!) Complex PTSD, and all its accompanying ailments such as depression, suicidal ideations, hypervigilance, etc... I recently turned again to your music, the songs that spoke to my soul in my twenties, before I met my beautiful James (I couldn't BEAR to listen to music we had 'discovered' together). And the effect was REMARKABLE. Your lovely, glorious, heavenly, haunting and yet joyous music has calmed my chaos, relaxed my reflexes, and helped me HEAL. So a very sincere THANK YOU and may God bless you from Beautiful Valleyview, Alberta, Canada. SZ xo ❤️🙏💓

All the best for you! I had the hoour of meet and greet DCD after a concert in Frankfurt in 2019 and Brendan was shaking my hand twice. I still recall this warm and healing energy. I also had the feeling that the band experienced something healing themselves in comparison to 2012 (They played in the same location).

WOW! How extraordinary! Dead Can Dance draw on so many of these early musical traditions from different cultures and creates the most powerful music and videos. Greeting to our #Bulgarian friends. Lisa Gerrard is an Australian but she transcends the world doesn't she? And opens up new dimensions in the brain.

This is so beautifully Balkan/Slavic. My husband is Serbian and this reminds me so much of the Folk music he plays for me. Goran Bregović also loves to use the Balkan Folk sounds. Absolutely love it. As a Dancer, this music always inspires. The Celtic sound is also strong in the rhythms and vocals.

I dont think it's just Bulgarian, the idea of scaring the winter away with masks and noise is pretty widespread and still alive in many parts of Europe. In Poland for example it was adopted by Christianity by replacing shouts with christmas carols and adding an angel to keep the host of monsters in check but the idea is the same. www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2013/04/europe-wild-men/

This is hands down the best track on this album. I got into DCD through a friend in ‘91 with Into the Labyrinth and then bought every album preceding it. Then of course I bought everything that came after. I even have live bootlegs. Saw them live twice and saw Lisa on her very first ever solo tour for the Mirror pool. So yeah, I have been a fan for a very very long time. That being said, I will say this is definitely in my top 10 DCD songs they have ever done. And they have a lot of great songs… with a few minor duds along the way ( to my ears anyway). This song just oozes atmosphere and a portal into a self musical journey. A lot of DCD songs do that of course, but after all these years and their large body of work, this song is very representative of how they really can transport you onto a sonic musical journey of the senses.

Today is the date of a special pagan holiday of Barbarians. When Slayers set out on a cosmic duel against the undead, to protect the living realm from the forces of evil. This old Dacian holiday still celebrated in traditional forms and dacian masks in Balkans. Most likely since the age of Orpheus who is their Odryssian national hero, as Herakles was to Hellas and Achilles to Walhalla

In Croatia on Kvarner we have the same "maskots", they are called "zvončari" and they have rituals to chase bad spirits away, it is veryyyyy similar, as a whole region of Eastern Europe

This looks a lot like the processions we have in Romania, too, where masked people scare away the winter, or evil spirits. I've loved your music since more than 20 years ago!

Lisa said in an interview that early on in her career she tried to "imitate" the Rhodopian folklore way of singing. It must have been a dream come true touring with the Voices Angelique. I saw them in Barcelona in 2019 and it was a very enjoyable concert. I have the feeling that DCD have completed a healing process.

So many times I've watched the creative force and inspiration behind my favorite musical acts just sort of evaporate over the years and decades (Yes and Shpongle are probably my most prominent examples). I'm happy to see Dead Can Dance as an exception - this new music is as good as anything they've done. Now I just need to figure out why they're dressing up in antlers and calling themselves "Heilung" these days.

влк као вук, као хлм, као хем или хлм (helm, hemus, helmus etc)... све се крије у лингвистици тј фонетики или можда фонетици? или можда formants-има? strange, we are so obsessed by the sigils (letters, characters, glyphs...), and we are not paying attentions to fonems, actually formants, because they are energetic (frecvent) meaning of our lingvistic expresion of our thoughts... old world, old catena mundi, old... everиthing... :) we'll see one day. all the best!... ....and that day is comming... be хепи
