One of very few DCD songs that sound better live then on the album. This song is transcendent, ephemeral, beautiful.

I absolutely love this song deeply.....I love how it begins as a wailing chant and breaks into choral vocals......absolutely a genius masterpiece I also first heard it on the Mist as well.

Same here, the Mist was such a heart breaking movie and this song totally captured the feels at the end so perfectly.

dead can dance are genius at building up emotional tension and then release it into a grand, elevating chord/harmony. this song purely consists of this. and it is epic.

This song moves me in a way that I am yet to find in another song. I have the film Baraka to thank for introducing me to it many years ago. Mantra Organics by Michael Stearns on the Baraka soundtrack is also just as moving.

Notable, esto es música, creación, inspiración, contenido, transmite emoción, no como esas mierdas de reggeaton que solo es un molesto ruido que tiene para nunca acabar...que lata..

the singing is a direct response to the music and the internal feelings therefore it is not a language which is spoken in words but understood on a more primal and dear i say almost more natural way. You hear the sounds, how does it make you feel? When you have understood your feeling, then you have understood her message! It is the language of emotion. It exists not in the mouth or mind, but in the heart. ENJOY! : )

I went to the show in Toronto knowing that DCD has so many songs to choose from and hoping they would include some of the songs I like most. At the end of the evening, I could not come up with a single favorite song that they omitted. Thanks for posting this so I can revisit the wonderful time I had.

Severance, Black Sun, Lotus Eaters were the ones that came to my mind. Oh and Children's Toys but we will never hear that one live again :( That being said, I loved the show. Satisfied for sure. Wish I could go again.

Someday, they should perform this song with an orchestra behind, exploding with every instrument available after the "pause". Please.

We cry out to God! We cry out to Our Creator! Send us your help Father, Send us your help. Our lives troubled with suffering, troubled with famine and pain. Please O, God!, send your Seraphim's. Give shout Lord, Give voice to them that hear your might!b Send to us your love and give your commands to those that watch out for us of God! Lest we die alone and hungry of forgotten and distressed.
I think they wanted to showcase the fact that she is a true contralto

What does it say when she sings?
@alijoumaa7612 жыл бұрын
Well, lisa sings with a language invented by her own, this language it doesnt exist and no one know it but only her. She invented a language to express what she feels. A language with translation and everything that why she's unique. Right below is the translation to english. I thought that you knew it all Well you've seen it ten times before. I thought that you had it down With both your feet on the ground. I love slow ... slow but deep. Feigned affections wash over me. Dream on my dear And renounce temporal obligations. Dream on my dear It's a sleep from which you may not awaken. You build me up then you knock me down. You play the fool while I play the clown. We keep time to the beat of an old slave drum. You raise my hopes then you raise the odds You tell me that I dream too much Now I'm serving time in disillusionment. I don't believe you anymore ... I don't believe you. I thought that I knew it all I'd seen all the signs before. I thought that you were the one In darkness my Heart was won. You build me up then you knock me down. You play the fool while I play the clown. We keep time to the beat of an old slave drum. You raise my hopes then you raise the odds You tell me that I dream too much Now I'm serving time in a domestic graveyard. I don't believe you anymore ... I don't believe you. Never let it be said I was untrue I never found a home inside of you. Never let it be said I was untrue I gave you all my time...

Hello, lisa gerrard sings Avant-garde; neoclassical dark wave; new-age; ethereal wave; classical; baroque; gregorian chant. She sings sometimes in English and often in a unique language that she invented like here(the host of seraphim) . In addition to singing, she is an instrumentalist for much of her work, most prolifically using the yangqin (a Chinese hammered dulcimer) Gerrard possesses the vocal range of a contralto but can also reach upward into the dramatic mezzo-soprano range.She has a vocal range from A2 to F♯5. Her vocal timbre has been described as "rich, deep" which creates a "mournful sound", and her voice is regarded by critics as "simply not of this world". More predominantly, Gerrard's vocal range spans from contralto to dramatic contralto, displayed for examples in "Sanvean", "Sacrifice", "Largo", and "Not Yet";- to the dramatic mezzo-soprano voice in her other songs, such as "The Host of Seraphim", "Elegy", "Space Weaver",and "Come this Way".
