There are some items that say “you do double damage but you take double damage” in order to not take the double damage you just have to reroll the stats at the end of the level of that item in particular. Hope it helped you Fruit 🍉

The “curse” that made you take more damage was part of the effects on the shovel, which made you take 100% more damage. You even read the effect out loud. It was also on another one of your items before (I believe it was the spiked shield). Goes to show that amazing items have a price.

MR. FRUIT Some items (in this case your wolf trap) give you increased damage but in return make you take twice as much, that’s why you were taking double damage :)

F34R_ITSELF yeah I wrote it before I finished the video, his trap had it first and then the shovel, but the bonus on the shovel allowed him to basically one shot all the enemies at the point he was at so it wasn’t as useless as it was on the trap

Roll through doors! It's fun and fast! The "curse" above your head (skull x 2) was the +100% damage dealt; +100% damage taken modifier on your shovel and wolf trap! You definitely should have reforged your shovel! Don't open cursed chests unless you know you can handle it! The doors that require you to pay can be broken (instead of paying) but you will be cursed if you do! Fun weapon combo: Ice Bow in Triangle slot and Heavy Crossbow in Square slot! Press Triangle then Square to win the game! Reforge until you get cool combos (Ice Bow pierces targets; Heavy Crossbow does +175% damage to frozen targets, etc.) I've played 30 hours and never seen a shovel! It was a very rare drop you got indeed!

Couple of things fruit. Always roll through doors, it's a free stun on enemies. Also totally invest in the random ranged/shield at the beginning, it makes every run more dynamic. Hunter's grenade is super important. And if you find something akin to force lightning, put EVERY UPGRADE into that color. It wrecks everything.

A small tip I can give is roll through every door instead of opening them. It takes less time and if you ever have to back track or run from an enemy the door won't eat your time.

6:49 WOW! You choose the right run to showcase the game! Ah somehow I forgot fruit and chill was a thing you did, that seems like the perfect format for this game! Hope to see it return on occasion on either channel, very entertaining and, as advertised, chill. And by the way, yes you’re wolf trap was cursed; it did double damage (not very helpful on a wolf trap arguably) but caused you to take double as well. Also if you roll through the doors it breaks them and stuns the enemies on the other side, also slightly faster and less annoying to the player’s brain than pressing the key (for keyboard and mouse at least).

Fruit a lot of levels have two doors, the normal door, and the door you can only access with an ability from a rune. The door you access with your rune always leads to a harder level where you can get better stuff sometimes or fight bosses that only appear in those levels. (Normal door was promenade of the condemned, Rune door was toxic sewers)

Mr. Frooooot, I don’t know why this was the case the first time (someone said it might be the wolf trap) but the reason you got the curse with double damage the second time was because of the shovel. One of the modifiers on the shovel increased your damage while also increasing the damage you take. Keep up the good work.

Just some things in case you make this a series somewhere The totem thing where you spam static around it and the ground that lights up the rune red when you downward smash and wall climbing are all permanent runes you need to unlock. You can unlock the totem one kinda fast if you go the toxic sewers route and beat the boss Dashing downwards on enemies can damage them and stun them for a bit Make sure to really read the "perks" on your item, the wolf trap and the cludge shield did double damage at the cost of receiving double damage I do this a lot you can break the doors and better yet roll through them so they're permanently opened Synergies are key to "cheesing" this game and going in for longer. If you get a really good item that does bleeding(can be burning, toxin or freezing), you might want to re-roll your other items to help either cause bleeding or deal more damage off of bleeding. the longer you play you'll see some op items, try not to die with them. It might also be a good idea to re-roll gold or white/no color items, so they synergize with your other items You cant get the Ygdar Orix Li Ox (YOLO) once you use it or if you didn't get it the first time once you pass the seller. Quality of life things: You should prolly gun for the 3 flasks, lets u play really reckless early on and can be crucial in deeper levels. Getting the random shields and swords can make almost everything super easy early on Get the recycler to lvl 2. You might not even want to take some items even if they're rare since they might not help your current build. I always like the sword plus crossbow/snew slicer(either one of each or doubling up on either one) they distract enemies while I hit them, tactics help this build and reducing the cooldown on them are insane sometimes. At the legendary forge, he only shows up once you defeat a boss and each tick is plus 5% to the rarity of each item that spawns(its worth it) (kinda of part of the reason why the game doesn't let you store dead cells) I only get the cursed treasure unless I have the ranged skills which make completing the challenge easy. There's a lot more but I guess I won't really add to this unless I see you play more.

Hey Mr Fruit, at the end where you jumped off trying to look for something in the ramparts, if you jumped all the way you could off the map you would land on an invisible platform that will bring you to a secret area :D Another note is that you can parry projectiles with your shield and it'll reflect back and if it was an explosive like the cannonball or grenade it won't hurt you

for areas you can't reach that have items in them, it's safe to assume that its an area a future rune will allow you to access to it ... or it's a secret area and you have to find the way around, usually through some fake wall Also the star above their heads doesn't mark an elite, just someone with extra loot

The x2 mark on top of your character is because of the “deal 100% damage to enemies, but take 100% damage” so you’re taking more damage then you should be taking. The way you fix this is to reforge the perks.
