Wow that certainly was one of the deadcells trailers of all time. Look i dont like to be negative but i have alot of questions. Why is this firstly a comedy. I always thought deadcells wouldve been a gritty dark fantasy with black comedy sprinkled in like the game. Next the characters. Why can Beheaded talk? Its established he has no mouth in the game. Next where's the Hand of the King? Where's the Giant Where's the Time keeper Where's the Queen Why is the story's premise entirely unrelated to the game. I always thought the time loop that everyone remembered thing was a neat idea. Im a big deadcells fan. i even beat 5bc so ill check it out anyway but as a fan alot of these decisions are confusing to say the least.

I'm going to give this a chance, but to be completely honest, this doesn't resemble the trailers that this studio made before, and this hardly even resembles a lot of the key elements of the game. This seems like they're trying to take the story of the game and turn it into a lighthearted comedic romp through cheap puns and a seemingly stitched together animation style, a choice that is undoubtedly absurd considering the dark nature of the game's story. I'm really hoping this isn't as bad as this looks to be.

Might as well give it a shot since it is the same animation team that worked on the game trailers. Chances are the art style is a creative choice to emphasize the their sense of humor and the focus on comedy (although it still looks like a generic raunchy adult swim comedy animation in certain aspects). Especially since we get glimpses of quality akin to the game trailers in Laure's design and the background art. However, Beheaded's design got thrashed.

It is but it's pretty dark too. Spoilers if you haven't made it very far. I mean your character kills a fuck ton of people for no reason, just look at the ossuary("the lucky prisoners had windows in their cells, they died choking on ashes from the ossuary"), the ramparts loading screen says "there's definitely nothing worse than the screams of someone who knows their headed for the edge", he kills his advisor for no reason, he kills his most loyal friend the hand and even needlessly executes his own wife after defeating her instead of just simply leaving and letting her recover from fight. He stomps the alchemist's head in (although I can't say he didn't have that one coming), and doesn't give a flying fuck when tutorial knight dies and kicks her corpse to find a gem or whatever it was. I'm not sure if he was the one who sent the queen to the shores, but if so that's yet another reason he's an incorrigible ass. The game does have a light tone to it but that's mostly because you play as the diabolical psychopath that destroyed everything and everyone on that island.

I honestly love the apporach they took with this deadcells animated series. While I get where the hate is coming from and kinda agree that if they are the characters from the actual game, it is a disappoingting simplification.. I can't help but compliment the character designs. The silhouette is very distinctive that you can tell them apart easily, and it feels unique to the deadcells world. I also like how every frame looks like a stylized illustration where it feels different from most of comedy animated series, with the high contrasted background and ziggly lines on characters. It was surprising that the studio decided to make this more comedy centered but I've always thought the game itself is more in line of comedy than dark, grim story of tragedy so it works for me. The game story is literally undying beheaded creature punching through every obstacle without giving any shit about anyone and I think this animation reflects that side really well from what I can tell from just this short trailer. It seems everyone's disappointed in the animation quality too, having thought that it will be like the animated trailers, but I honestly want to applaud the studio for taking much simpler approach while maintaining the stylized look. While it would have been perfect if they went with that complicated style, it would have eventually crumbled down where the animation quality would look inconsistent (like from many shows where the scene with people talking/doing daily stuff clearly lacks quality, while the action scene itself look fantastic) Not to mention can you imagine how many years it would have taken to make animated shows with that much quality? We would probably had to wait at least 3 more years just for the first trailer to drop and I honestly don't want to wait that long. Also, it's really unfair to compare this with other big franchise animated shows too. They are BIG studios with lots of time, money, and people on their side. People really need to understand how much resources are needed just to make one simple animation. As far as I know, nothing's confirmed about who these charcters are, if they are the ones we know already from the game or entirely different characters, (except for the collector, he looks like himself in the poster) so I hope there's some explanation in the story narrative when the show is aired. I still have high hopes for this animation and excited evermore than before!

…huh. Never would’ve thought I’d see an indie game get an animated series - much less Dead Cells. (Cuphead did, I know - but that makes sense because it was inspired by cartoons in the first place.) This looks surprisingly cute for the series. If Dead Cells was going to get an animated series, I would’ve pictured something closer to Samurai Jack, but this could be good.

My disappointment is immesurable and my day is ruined. All that side that's not what I was expecting aside from bobby who look like bob, the other characters looks so unrecognizable, plus this story isn't even canon. Not to mention the animation style isn't what anyone was expecting, it's so..... different to say the least unlike OG. Will def watch it but my expectations with this is below the ground. I'll just treat it as a fan animation rather than official dead cells animation.

i honestly dont think the animation is that bad (it's an indie property so budget probably isnt that high and the low quality drawings allow more dynamic and active animation) but the series was absolutely taken in the wrong direction, being a buddy comedy instead of action focused, and the initial teaser was definitely extremely misleading

Ok, the different art style, i can understand. Making an entire *series* with the same quality as the original game trailers will take a lot more money and time, i don't mind the new artstyle at all. But at least keep the story from the game and don't just... change it to the point to where it's something different...
