- All versions have a single display mode.
- The PS5 version runs at 1800p average resolution at 60fps. The oldgen versions have to settle for 30fps.
- On PS5 we have general visual improvements in various settings such as textures, shadows, vegetation animation, ambient occlusion, draw distance or post-processing effects. However, the oldgen versions show a surprising visual quality.
- Dead Island 2 does not use Ray-Tracing of any kind. However, due to the absence of real-time day/night cycles, it has been possible to achieve high-level baked global illumination (especially indoors).
- Reflections, on the other hand, are not convincing in any version. Some use low-resolution cubemaps that tarnish the visual finish.
- Loading times on PS5 are 10 times faster.
- Some slight framerate drops on PS4/PS4 Pro. Especially in the larger areas.
- Dead Island 2 is one of the best optimized games I've seen on UE4. A solid and satisfying experience on any of the 3 platforms.

I think moving forwards this is to be expected. We will probably never experience the same visual fidelity jump as it was going from like SEGA to PS1 or PS1 to PS2. Todays game can already look photo-realistic, the WOW factor is not going to be as impressive as it was back then when everything was pretty much low poly one sided objects.

Very impressive that they were able to keep most of the lighting and reflections with the biggest difference being the vegetation swaying in the wind which helps it feel more real, other than that the main drawback being load times. Great job devs! Was worried about PS4/pro version being gimped.

Estoy asombrado lo bien optimizado que está para la generación de PS4/PS4 Pro. Yo creo que una de las razones por la que va tan bien y se ve bien, es porque se concentran en optimizar un solo modo gráfico para cada versión y de allí deriva el excelente rendimiento y apartado gráfico. Aprende algo CAPCOM con tu RE4 remake y sus múltiples opciones gráficas.

An SSD would greatly reduce load times on the Pro, by at least 50%, maybe 25-35% of the base PS4. Still have the give the devs credit for getting this game to run smoothly on last gen hardware. Game is a looker on PS5 and runs great.

I don't know what you mean by "previous", this game or other games? In any event, its always about tradeoffs on consoles because you have a fixed limit with resources, so if you want something in this part of the game to be above average, another part ofnthe game has to take a hit.

Feel bad that you'll have to be in static areas. The dynamic trees and foliage brings the area to life. But that's PS4 for you, for 10 year old hardware. Unfortunately, the next gen graphics aren't major. Thanks to old gen ports. PS5 looks the sharpest/crisp out of ALL the consoles. Interesting. Also I love the fact the One X still brings 1440p over the Series S and even the Pro, I hope Microsoft learn a lesson from it. Don't quit selling a very power console until it's actually OBSOLETE. And don't sell a new console that's been OBSOLETE since day one LAUNCH. Some people never learn.

I remember the 1st Dead Island game. It was so fun but it was equally unplayable. Nothing but bugs and constant crashes. I remember you couldn't play that game longer than an hour without a crash. Hopefully that won'r be the same case here because I do wanna get it.

From other reviews, most noted minor bugs that didn't affect gameplay, so bugs that would affect cutscenes and such. But for gameplay wise they didn't mention crashing. So do with that as you will.
