I live in the area. As sad as it is to see this amazing memory filled place go, this city needs new nice neighborhoods and plazas. Places like southgate in West Seneca are what really thrives in this area today. The only exception is the Walden Galeria due to the dense population, airport proximity, and ability to charge higher prices and attract higher end brands and stores.

@@Neckername1 I think Galleria also benefits from a volume of Canadian shoppers that the other malls don't get.

That clock you showed in vintage footage early on in the video instantly sparked nostalgia. Then as you're walking, I'm just thinking "oh, that's where Babbage's (later EB Games, then GameStop) used to be!" And as you're approaching Duff's, I instantly recognized that as the corridor where the arcade used to be. I recall there being a pet store there when I was a kid; and I'm pretty sure the menu board you showed toward the end of the video is the last place I ever ate at that mall, when Dave & Busters was still there but the wait for food was too long, so we went to the food court before heading back over there. Sucks a piece of my childhood is now someplace I can never set foot in again, but I appreciate that you posted this video!

Clicked because I have a ton of memories of this exact mall myself, subscribed when I heard you were a fellow Western New Yorker. I'm younger than a lot of the other commenters who's posted about this here, but I still used to love coming here, and that super "local" flair in its later years gave that era a fun sort of "character." I remember being surprised it was still open a couple years back, then pleased that it had a Duffs almost as good as the one in Amherst (am I crazy for thinking the original might be even better than Anchor Bar? Maybe, but I still think that! Sue me!), then had such a hectic year I somehow completely missed that it was shutting down. I also remember for some reason or another I hung around the old Summit Park Mall a lot in its final years, when it was basically a ghost town and empty shell you could still just walk around in, and as a kid that was my first experience with places like that. Bet the redevelopment they've been talking about for that one goes nowhere or goes somewhere bad given Niagara County's track record, honestly...

I would say Corpus was unique from all of my duty stations. Originally from N.E. Ohio and I especially liked the Ashtabula and Beaver Valley also besides all your others videos! Our dollar is too low, but we still occasionally drive across the border. For what it’s worth, this idea of making it a whole living compound with houses, offices etc. is closer to what the original mall concept was meant to be than the 80s-2000s layouts. The fact we wound up with what we got was a side effect of the concept not working as intended.
