Eastern Hills Mall: Revisited (RIP)

Eastern Hills Mall in Williamsville, New York is almost completely empty and falling apart. A few stores remain but are rapidly dwindling. This is a mall walk through mid afternoon on a weekend, three years after the first video tour. The shopping mall's retro halls are more sparse than ever and most stores have deep discount signs in the windows. Eventually this hundred acre site will be redeveloped into a business park with 1500 apartment units after tearing down much of the original 1971 mall structure.

I've seen much newer malls look a lot worse, it's not in bad shape. Also, surprisingly lots of stores still open

Sadly most tenants have been asked to leave mid January 2024 unless their entrances are outside the mall

What was the cat doing there? An actual open pet store? It didn’t appear open or other people inside I’m guessing “closing time” If you’re the owner you could take your pet to close shop? I have never been nor heard of all the malls on KZbin “dead or clinging to life “. This was our generation overall. So sad to see the demise of all the malls becoming nothing more than another memory.❤️

The cat was in an adoption center called ‘The Ten Lives Club’ that is a non-kill non-profit charity that has volunteers help find homes for cats that were previously in overcrowded shelters. They also sell cat toys and other things to support their charity. Sadly a lot of malls are clinging to life or dying, I feel like if they aren’t documented they will be closed and completely forgotten
