Man those neon lights were nice I wonder why they took them down? You can definitely see the decline over the last 3 years this mall is barely hanging on.You would think since Penn State University is in the same city that this mall would be alive and well,crazy.

The Mall has definitely seen a decline. The mall is incredible when the blue neons are on. Thanks for watching!

what accent is this? Where are you originally from? Its sounds so much different than what i am used to hearing on the east coast. I saw a comment that said Penn state. Are you originally from there?

The problem of the Nittany Mall was always that for students it was hard to get to being on the outskirts of State College. I had to take a CATA Bus from downtown State College to the Nittany Mall to shop or get a haircut. I remember taking my graduate test for my doctorate and taking the bus from State College to the Nittany Mall to celebrate by getting a haircut. It was a hassle for most Penn State students to get to the Nittany Mall. On top of that like all malls online shopping did it in.

@@MannyQuacioua I know for a fact that the reason a lot of the anchor stores left were due to drastic rent increases. The owners at the time were intentionally forcing tenants out.

Reminds me of the last minutes of '2001 A Space Odyssey' in which it is white stark, you can hear the aliens in the background, and with each minute time passes quickly.

The voices in the background are unusually American sounding for being in North Korea.

I can't believe this mall is struggling while Marketplace in Champaign is doing well. You would think a major university would help keep traffic up.

They shut off the beautiful blue neons. They have taken a major hit!

Remember, the young people who are in college today grew up in a world where the internet was already in full swing, so for them to go to the mall is like trading in a new Ford F-150 for a horse for everyday travelling, it would be a step back in pass history to them.
@turtleislandlac14902 жыл бұрын
@@b75s That's true but you still see many teenagers and college students at the mall. Not like it was back in the day, but still a significant amount. I live in Annapolis and I see many Cadets at the mall every weekend.

I know it's not the Mall that is the problem. El Paso has had that mall since the early 1980s and everytime I go visit, it looks exactly the same and full of people, especially on the weekends. The city itself has grown so much in the last forty years so it's not like it doesn't have competition. So....is the reasons mall die, because of the people in that area?
@kellybratcher33042 жыл бұрын
Good question. I live in one of fastest growing counties in the country and we have two dead malls.
